If they were in a book, how would they describe themselves?
Edric doesn't have the biggest ego or really any amount of self esteem. He sees himself as fairly normal. A run of the mill dwarf. But he does often internally comment about other people's appearances, never really nastily just... observing the objective fact of if they're considered conventionally attractive or not. I suppose this implies he thinks he's in the middle of that spectrum.
Despite growing up in Dust Town, his mom really raised him to prioritize grooming. He's always been very well kempt, all of the Cadashes have been. His younger brothers (he's the oldest of three) have varying begrudges/apathy for it, but Edric's wise enough to see the value in keeping himself presentable. The Cadashes are the face of the Carta after all.
In Sun-Touched, the fic he's going to debut in once the THM Minibang happens next month, I describe him through his own lens. I can't publish that here, since it would be against the event's rules, but his self impression is very "stock standard, boring dwarf who could've been handsome in another life."
If they were in a book how would they be described by others/ the narrator?
I think if Lantos - his best friend - tried to describe him, he'd end up saying something like, "Reliable as the Stone and twice as thick" lmfao.
Do they have a "lucky" item?
I hadn't considered! I don't think Edric really believes in luck, exactly, but if he has anything of a sentimental item on him, it'd be something Lantos gave him while they were kids. Maybe a shitty grip for his axe the sod had saved up a long time for that's more of a hazard than anything for how worn down it is by now.
If they were in a book, how would they describe themselves?
Oh boy. Contrastingly to Edric, Syrion is my MOST egotistical character! He has whatever complex it is where he simultaneously thinks he's godly and also a piece of shit. However he describes himself, it would be flowery and covering the broad width of his wisdom, his handsomeness, his abilities and skill. It would really be super insufferable.
I haven't gotten to write him from his perspective very much yet but when I do, I'm sure I'll spend at least an entire paragraph of him preening and thinking about how damn pretty he is.
Which is he. Don't let the ego fool you. He really is incredible. He's just also insufferable about it.
If they were in a book how would they be described by others/ the narrator?
People would probably focus on how weird and annoying he is actually lmao. "That obnoxious elf who's always making the place smell bad with his booze and weed." "That annoying mage who prattles on about the most irrelevant things ever." Syrion's greatest joy in life outside of hedonism and traveling is spreading the good word of everything he's learned and that often...happens at inopportune times. When he's nervous or filling a lull in an awkward conversation. Basically if you make him nervous enough his self soothing is being a nerd.
If anyone were to describe him physically, they'd definitely first notice how birdlike and eclectic he is, and secondarily realize he must have a lot of coin. He's dripping in gold jewelry and trinkets from every corner of Thedas. His robe is a rich blue with so many feathers, he really could just take off flying at any second. And his hair. God he's insufferable about his hair. But it really is gorgeous.
Do they have a "lucky" item?
Definitely tons! From many cultures throughout Thedas. Halla bones from the Dalish, dried clovers from the Tirashan, a small horseshoe from a random village in the Frostbacks, citrine and jade from Rivain -- tons of little things, religious or cultural or otherwise either in his various bags or incorporated into his outfits. He really is a walking melting pot of everywhere he's ever been.
