ok you know what i’m NOT done talking about syrah syara, so here’s a list of possible post-fyre things that could happen, that are better than just “and then she slipped away”:
after a few days, her memories return (a side effect of the enchantment chamber), and she apologizes to, and reconnects with septimus. they become friends over their shared experiences, traumas, and interests
the same as the above, but they also fall in love
syrah is upset and disoriented after awakening again. she trusts no one but rose, the kind nurse who looked after her while she was unconscious. something about her is warm and comforting, while the world around is cold. rose, feeling drawn to this girl she took care of, tries to deny that she fell in love with her while watching over her. once they connect after it all, however, she can’t deny it for long
marcellus pye, an old friend and the only other person in the world who understands how syrah feels, takes her in and helps rehabilitate her (and basically adopts her)
syrah takes a job at a local flower shop. she tries to be polite to the people of the castle, but she’s off-putting and doesn’t feel very wanted. until septimus and marwick come to her with an old scroll they can’t decipher. she instantly recognizes it as a script about the mixing of alchemie and magyk, but it also talks of a lost gem and a hidden evil. the 3 of them come together to solve the mystery of the scroll, and aggressively work through their trauma by adventuring together (this au is courtesy of @crykea)
syrah mostly just hangs about for a long time, feeling no sense of purpose or belonging, until she meets simon heap. simon, who recognizes the darkness in her eyes and understands the emptiness she feels, befriends this poor bedraggled girl. he can tell she has strong magykal ability, but she wants nothing to do with that part of herself. so he eventually takes her on as his alchemie apprentice
jenna heap, heart of gold and soul of a lion, refuses to let this poor girl disappear without a fight. she, through sheer force of will, befriends syrah, and adopts her into her group of female friends, which includes lucy and snorri. they make her feel safe
not being able to bear the suffocating weight of her past, syrah runs off to the forest. she stumbles into the Ancient Ways and runs across sam heap, who helps her navigate her travels for a while, just to feel something new (yes this is a Syrah Takes A Gap Year AU ok, let me live)
syrah reads about how julius pike died from sadness after losing both of his apprentices. she tries to find the family of his second apprentice, but to no avail. eventually, she calls on the ghost of her former mentor. she cries and cries, and he tells her he always loved her like his own daughter. she apologizes, and he says he’s the one that’s sorry, for not protecting her well enough. they make peace with each other
