to celebrate the return of Michael the piglin in Ranboo's stream may we please get some hcs of Micheal growing up in the fg au?
Friendly Giant Michael Fluff HC’s
Notes: YES! I love this AU so much so I’ll take any chance to talk about it, and I love little Michael getting raised by two teenage idiots :”] have some fluff
Since Michael’s tusks grew in so fast he had a lot of trouble learning how to talk. His tusks got in the way of his lips so there were certain sounds he just couldn’t mimic. After one day of the piglin getting particularly frustrated Ranboo sat him down to help. He lifted the piglin up to his mouth and exaggerated each sound, so Michae could see it better. The two sat like that for hours with Michael copying every mouth shape his father made until he could make out a few words. Later, when Tubbo came to visit he almost cried when Michael called him “papa” for the first time
Once Michael was old enough to pass as human in a conversation (around 5/6) Tubbo started to sneak him into his town. Michael was ecstatic the first time he got to visit. First, Tubbo took him to nikis bakery to try her pastries, and while niki was a little suspicious of the kid snorting she let him have some free cake since he was so cute. Then Tubbo and Tommy took Michael to see Wilbur perform in the town center. Michael sat patiently until the end of the performance but as soon as Wilbur finished he ran up to tackle his uncle. Later that night before Tubbo had to take him back to the cave, Techno let him sit on his lap to read him a bed time story. He felt bad for hurting the kid when they first met so he tried his best to make it up to him. When Michael finally had to go back to the cave he excitedly told Ranboo about all the things he saw while his giant father listened happily
Michael wags his tail when he’s happy! Overall hes able to pass as a human child (as long as he’s wearing a cloak). However, he just can’t control his tail whenever he gets too excited. It makes sneaking him into the town difficult, but Tubbo never tries to make him stop since he finds it so cute. His favorite thing is when they all fall asleep together and Michael wags his tail in his sleep.
When Michael finds out that Tubbo likes pillbees he starts to bring him bouquets of wildflowers that the bugs like. Sometimes when Tubbo comes back to the cave he finds Michael excitedly babbling to Ranboo while he clumps up flowers in his hands. Even though his hooves always leave them a bit droopy, Tubbo still saves every bouquet he gets, letting them dry out and keeping them in a small book.
Since Michael spends so much of his time around Ranboo he starts to think he’s going to get as big as him. He draws chalk pictures where he’s the same size as Ranboo or where he’s holding Tubbo in his hands. While Ranboo does try to explain that that won’t actually happen it’s so cute that neither of them really argue when he says he wants to be giant.

part 1, part 2, part 3, part 4
—————————
The first thing Wilbur heard when he woke up was his father yelling from the kitchen. The shouting itself wasn’t too uncommon...but usually it was directed at him.
It only took a few seconds before his body shot up thinking he’d forgotten to do something. He had to have done something wrong to make his father mad.
Maybe there was a chore he’d missed or he’d misplaced something his dad needed. At least he thought so until he noticed his window.
There was no light coming from outside, and as far as he was aware it was still nighttime...his dad shouldn’t have been home yet. The guard never got back earlier than sunrise. So what was all the yelling about?
Wilbur quickly threw on a rumpled shirt that had been tossed to the floor and ran out to the kitchen, more than a little nervous about what he would find.
“-you will stay here until I say so!”
“Dad! Fucking listen to-“
“No, Tubbo you listen to me!”
When Wilbur walked into the kitchen it was like he was witnessing a dog fight. His brothers and his father were at each other's throats. And it looked like both sides had drawn blood if the tear tracks on their faces were any proof.
Tommy was the first one to notice Wilbur standing in the door frame. Yet as soon as he saw his older brother his expression soured.
“Oh look who’s here, fucking man of the day isn’t he?” Tommy spat.
Wilbur thought it had to be some sort of joke until Tubbo sent him a glare that shocked him straight to the core. He’d never seen Tubbo that angry, and especially not at him.
“Wait wait, what’s going on?” Wilbur sputtered, “What did I do?”
“Oh my fucking god ‘what did you do’ I’ll fucking tell you -” Tubbo growled.
Before Tubbo could get closer Phil’s arm shot out to grab him. The look he sent the younger boy was enough to make his mouth snap shut. It was like a dagger had been run through him.
“Tubbo stop,” Phil scolded, “I have to go talk to the guard and you will stay here. Do you understand? If I find that any of you left this house you will never leave your rooms again. Am I fucking clear?”
Confusion grew in Wilbur’s head while both Tommy and Tubbo’s faces fell. Anger melted into despair in just seconds, leaving a sour taste in the air.
“Fuck you dad,” Tubbo seethed, “...I hate you.”
Immediately Phil’s eyes lit up with rage and Wilbur flinched back anticipating the shouting match sure to start. Yet all his father did was take a deep breath and shake his head.
No shouting, no screaming, not even a raised voice.
“You don’t mean that Tubbo,” Phil sighed, “I hope one day you understand.”
With that, the front door slammed shut and Wilbur heard the jangling of keys against metal. They were trapped in the house.
And he still didn’t know why.
Wilbur didn’t have long to think on it though before his brother had slammed him to the floor. His breath escaped his body in a panicked yelp while Tommy desperately tried to pull Tubbo away.
“I’m gonna fucking kill you, Wilbur!”
“Tubbo get off! What the fuck,” Wilbur gasped while his younger brother raised his fist.
“This is your fault; it’s all your fault,” Tubbo shouted, “I hate you, I hate you, I hate you-“
Before Tubbo could throw a punch Tommy yanked him off. The younger boy panted as he held Tubbo back.
“Tubbo stop it.”
Stuck in his brother's hold, Tubbo finally broke, “No I- fuck. Tommy, he trusted him. god damn it!”
Tommy sighed, “I know Tubbo but-“
“What the fuck are you talking about?” Wilbur finally snapped.
Both Tommy and Tubbo’s heads shot towards him as if they’d forgotten he was even there.
“This,” Tubbo spat.
Wilbur was about to ask what he was talking about before something heavy slammed into the side of his head.
“Shit what the-“
The words died in his mouth as he looked at the object now laying by his side.
“That’s my book...”
“Yeah. Way to fucking go Wilbur,” Tubbo glared.
Quickly Wilbur flipped through the pages praying to any god that existed that the contents would be different. But it was exactly as he left it.
Almost every page was filled with notes about their giant friend and countless sketches. Detailed quotes and facts littered the entire journal.
Only one page was missing...
Wilbur felt like his breath had turned to iron, “What happened...”
“We got caught dumbass,” Tommy interjected, “why else would we be here at 3 fucking am.”
“No you can’t- that can’t happen, what!? What happened to Ranboo? What did they-“
“He’ll be sleeping for days with how much of that tranquilizer shit Techno gave him,” Tommy seethed before his face softened with concern, “...and they got Michael too.”
Wilbur cringed at the thought, “They’ll fucking kill him...”
“Don’t you think we know that?” Tubbo snapped.
“I didn’t mean for this to-"
“Yeah because you always liked Ranboo so much, huh?” Tubbo growled.
Wilbur shook his hands quickly trying to placate his brother, “Hey! I would never I-“
“I thought that too Wilbur,” Tubbo scowled with poison dripping from his words, “I can’t believe you, dickhead.”
Before Wilbur could defend himself Tubbo had stormed off into his room. The loud slam of his door shook through the walls, and Wilbur felt it reverberate through his heart, shaking his blood.
“I didn’t mean to...” Wilbur whispered to Tommy who had been silently judging the interaction. He noticed with disdain that Tommy looked the same as their father when he was upset. His brows scrunched in the same way and his lips turned down at the end sharply. It wasn't a nice thought.
A heavy sigh escaped Tommy, “Doesn’t matter if you meant to or not Wil. You fucked up.”
“I’m sorry...”
“Yeah,” Tommy grimaced, “Tell that to Ranboo.”
Wilbur’s head fell to his chest as he tried to contain the guilt eating its way through his bones. The once comforting journal now a noose against his heart.
He should’ve been more careful. He shouldn’t have left it where anyone could see it. It was meant to be kept a secret, yet he had been stupid enough to leave it out in the open.
Wilbur was only startled out of his thoughts by a harsh pat on his back.
“I’m gonna go check on Tubbo," Tommy grimaced.
Wilbur nodded and watched as Tommy marched off towards his and Tubbo’s shared room. He heard a loud thud of the door slamming shut, and then he was left alone. The air was almost suffocating now that his brothers were gone.
He had to do something though. It was his fault; he couldn’t just sit there and dread the outcome of his friend. And just barely he could hear Tubbo crying from his room, that was all Wilbur needed.
Quickly, he ran to his own room and tried desperately to pry open the windows. His fingertips caught on the rusted metal drawing blood, but the glass didn’t budge. Of course his dad had locked the windows, he was smart.
But Wil could be smarter.
Throwing open the bottom drawer of his dresser, Wilbur tore through the piles of socks and clothes until he felt cold metal meet his skin. When he pulled his hand back out a small copper key rested in his palm.
He remembered when he had stolen the key from Techno; he was barely twelve and his older brother was in his late teens. Their father just thought they lost it, but Wilbur knew where it was. He’d stolen it to sneak out, so he could see the musicians that played late at night.
Now it would serve a different purpose.
He turned the key in the window's lock until he heard a soft click. This time when he pushed against the metal the window slid open. His body shivered at the wind's cold touch, but he didn't have time to change.
Once he stepped out onto the moist grass, he gently closed the window behind him. He couldn’t have Tubbo or Tommy knowing he was gone. And If his dad came home and saw the window cracked open he would be grounded for life, if not worse.
So, as quietly as he could, he walked to the guard’s base. There would be weapons there, and if he wanted to free Ranboo he’d need anything he could find. Most likely the guard was out dealing with the poor giant which gave him a perfect opening. The building attached to the border wall would have less security than ever before.
He was only a few steps away from the cold stone building when he heard chatter from outside the wall. It was loud- probably a group of people.
Immediately Wilbur ducked behind the building. Just barely he could make out some of their words over the wind.
“Can we just...here...Sam you...”
“I can but...safety of the...can’t be good...”
Wilbur leaned closer and recognized the second voice as Sam. The tall quiet guard member had been over to their house many times during his childhood. He was always the picture of poise, but now his voice sounded stricken with worry.
“Sam it’s just for tonight...can surely...”
A small gasp escaped Wilbur as his dad’s voice came into earshot. The whole guard must have been out there. He didn’t know what they were doing, but it ruined his plan of breaking in. He had no chance of getting in with them all present.
He waited a little bit longer listening to the back-and-forth talk of the guard members until he heard footsteps approaching him. Quickly, he pressed his body against the wall hoping that the shadows would protect him from sight. Wilbur held his breath, and after what felt like hours, the footsteps disappeared.
It was time to see what they were talking about.
With practiced ease, Wilbur stuck his foot into the side of the wall and climbed a couple feet up. Once he was almost at the top he jumped up and scrambled for a hold on the cracked top. It still hurt even after doing it so often, but the pain barely even registered in his mind.
As quietly as he could he let his body fall off the top. He rolled a few feet when he hit the ground but luckily the dewy grass cushioned the fall.
He looked around nervously- a subconscious part of himself still worried a giant would come out of nowhere- until he noticed something odd. A large wire crate was attached to a tree by a thick chain. It looked like what the guard used to keep baby lionwolves contained when Ponk had given them the ‘brilliant’ idea to train them.
Yet the soft sniffing squeals from inside sounded nothing like a lionwolf.
“Michael?”
Wilbur shuffled over to the crate and sure enough, the tiny piglin child sat sobbing behind the bars. His small arms reached through, trying to grab at Wilbur desperately.
“Oh fuck okay,” Wilbur gasped as he frantically looked around for any way to help the piglin. He patted down his pockets but the only thing he had was a small music pick and the key from before.
“Shhh it’s okay I’m gonna get you out okay,” Wilbur reassured softly, though his shaky tone just made the child cry harder.
“Please stop crying please I know I know-“
Wilbur didn’t even have a chance to comfort the toddler before cold metal was pressed against his back.
“What are you doing here? Who are- Wilbur?”
Out of pure panic, Wilbur whipped around and kicked at his attacker. However, the taller man deflected easily, and in seconds Wilbur was knocked down.
When the stars finally left his vision he found himself pinned to the dirt by none other than Sam.
“What are you doing here Wilbur?” He glared.
Wilbur stared back, challenging the guard member even though he knew he was in no position to win. The man in front of him was the highest in the guard beside Phil and Techno. His skills were undeniable, and Wilbur had never even learned how to fight.
“Wilbur, I’m gonna give you 10 seconds before I drag you home,” Sam said coldly, “Now you tell me what you’re doing here.”
“Fucking make me,” Wilbur snarled before kicking at Sam’s chest.
It shocked Sam just enough to knock him off balance, freeing Wilbur from his grip. The guard member stumbled back in pain, but before he could fight back Wilbur snatched away his sword. He just needed something to pop the cage open- Sam’s sword would do.
Urgently, he shoved the tip of the blade into the cage and pried at it. One of the bars creaked open with a metallic shriek before Wilbur was knocked to the floor again.
This time Sam was fuming.
“Wilbur, you’re a good kid and I don’t want to hurt you. But if you don't tell me what you’re doing and go home right. Fucking. Now. I will have to use force.”
At the last word, Sam drew out a small vial of purple liquid from his pocket.
Instantly Wilbur backed away.
“You’re gonna fucking tranquilize me, Sam? Really? My dad would kill you,” Wilbur huffed.
Sam glared and uncapped the bottle, “He said to do what I must. And you're not making this easy.”
Sam grabbed at Wilbur’s collar but as soon as his hand gripped the fabric, Wilbur bit into his wrist. He didn’t let go until he heard a cry from Sam and tasted the irony stench of blood. Quickly he wrenched the vial from the man’s hands and splashed just a drop onto his leg.
The sound Sam’s body made when he crumpled to the floor would haunt Wilbur forever. For a moment Wilbur panicked and jumped to check his chest, but luckily enough he was still breathing. He was just asleep.
Wilbur was brought back by the sound of Michael’s squeals and quickly grabbed the sword to free him. It only took a few minutes before all the bars were wrenched open and Michael was snuggled up in his arms.
“It’s okay Michael, it’s okay,” Wilbur whispered into the boy’s head.
Michael let out a concerned squeal when he saw Sam limp on the floor. The boy so innocent he didn’t even care that the man had been the one trapping him.
“He’s okay Michael,” Wilbur hushed, “He’s just taking a nap.”
The piglin squeaked but seemed to take his answer as he nestled into Wilbur's arms.In the back of his mind, he hoped the kid would stay quiet in his room since he had no idea where to hide him for the time being.
Gently Wilbur nudged the boy onto his hip, so he could hold him and walked back to the wall. It would be difficult getting over, but he would find a way.
However, the pair only got halfway up before an enormous clawed hand grabbed them from the darkness. If Wilbur had paid more attention he may have noticed Michael's worried squeals or the way the chirping of birds had disappeared. But all he had been focused on was getting the piglin home.
Wilbur screamed as loud as he could, but no one came. The claws dug into his side so hard he felt his lower body go numb, and the strangled squeals of the piglin echoed hauntingly against the trees. A deep breathy laugh was all Wilbur heard before his mind went blank.
Hours later the guard would arrive to a horrific scene: Sam on the ground unconscious, an empty broken cage, slashes on the trees, and a trail of blood leading out into the forest.
notes: oh boy were speeding up now, this is the first time where you really need to heed the warning of “dark themes”. There’s also implications of violence, so please stay safe
part 1, part 2, part 3
——————————
Phil didn’t think he’d ever ran faster in his life. Leaves crunched underneath him and sharp wind slashed across his face as he sprinted through the forest. He was out of breath already, but every time he started to fall behind Techno’s hand would grab his own and pull him forward.
They couldn’t afford to slow down.
The journal was torn open, the map gripped in Techno’s hand as they raced to find the end. Wilbur’s sketchy drawings didn’t help too much though.
“Wait Phil stop,” Techno yelled. Phil looked back in confusion while Techno stopped to study the map.
“What is it?” Phil asked impatiently.
Techno frowned at the older man and showed the map to him again.
“We’re close, at least I think. There’s a big triangle here I think it’s that tree.”
Phil turned towards the tree in question and sure enough, it seemed different from the others around it. It was much much taller and its leaves were a bright red against the sea of green.
“That’s good, right? Why’d you stop us?” Phil huffed as he started forward again.
Before he could get far Techno’s hand shot forward and grabbed Phil’s sleeve, “Hey wait, we should be really close. If the map is right it should be anywhere around here, we need to be more careful.”
Phil glared at him still, but his face softened in understanding. With a nod Phil turned back around, this time advancing forward more carefully.
It was only a few more minutes before they reached a mountain. The jagged rock seemed like it came out of nowhere. Due to the thick tree line, they couldn’t see it until it was right in front of them, and god was it a sight. Even Techno who usually didn’t show his emotions had his mouth open in surprise.
“Do you think this is it?” Phil whispered to the other guard member.
He heard Techno cough to collect himself before letting out a low huff. “It’s got to be.”
“Fuck...”
Techno walked closer until his hand could touch the hard stone. He brushed aside a curtain of leaves and quickly stepped away. Where he had moved the leaves, giant claw marks were dug into the stone, at least a few inches deep.
“Yeah...we found it,” he muttered, “Keep your eyes open.”
Phil watched as Techno’s hand moved to his hip, resting on his sword. Fear settled into his bones, and Phil’s hand itched to do the same.
Not that a sword would do much good against a giant...
Phil’s thoughts were interrupted by Techno waving his hand. He pointed his fingers forward which Phil knew meant he wanted him to follow. He nodded once, and then they were off.
Techno’s feet crunched in front of him making Phil cringe with every step. They couldn’t afford to be caught, and every sound made his heart clench. Even the smallest noise felt too loud.
It only took them fifteen minutes to reach a strange part of the mountain. Vines covered the stone in a thick curtain, and the sound of the leaves rusting echoed against the wind.
Techno approached it slowly with his sword out but as soon as he tried to press his hand against it he fell through. The vines opened up swallowing the man in their leaves.
“Techno!” Phil gasped as he ran forward. He pushed through the curtain of leaves and found that Techno was on the ground in a sort of cave. The vines had been acting as some sort of cover he guessed...but he didn’t really want to know what it was hiding.
“I’m fine,” Techno grumbled as he patted the dirt off his cloak. Digging into his pockets he grabbed a match, swiped it against the wall, and held it up in the darkness. Around them, giant tunnels lead in every direction with the same claw marks from outside covering the walls.
Techno frowned and pressed his palm against the closest set of marks. “Thing must live here...”
Behind Techno, Phil felt his breath freeze, every part of him wanted to run back home. But he couldn’t.
His sons were missing and somehow Wilbur had known about this place...
He had to protect his family.
With one hand against the poison vials in his satchel and his sword in his other hand, he marched forward through the tunnels. The only comfort came from the gentle sound of Techno’s footsteps behind him.
It was unnervingly cold in the tunnels and the farther they went the taller the walls around them got. It reminded him of the story of the Minotaur in the labyrinth, except he didn’t want to find out what the monster in the center of this maze would be. If the scratches on the walls were anything to go by it wasn’t anything good.
They turned around another corner and this time a warm flickering light splattered against the rock walls. Somewhere there was a fire...and they were getting close.
“Phil, look at this,” Techno whispered behind him. When Phil turned he was met by chalk scribbles on the stone. He could barely make out the drawing under the dim light, but it appeared to be five figures. There was a tiny one drawn in pink while the rest were in white. Then, off to the left side, there was a giant figure scribbled with white and black chalk.
“Looks like a kid did that,” Phil hummed, “Why would a kid be out here?”
Techno shrugged and pointed his match towards the end of the tunnel where the light seemed to be coming from. Sure enough more scribbles covered the walls. Some were random letters thrown together while others were similar sketches to the ones they’d seen before.
But all of them had the same people. It was unsettling to say the least.
The two walked cautiously to the end of the tunnel where there was a sharp turn leading even farther into the cave. Phil peeked around the corner and to his surprise saw an entrance to a gigantic room. It was probably bigger than their whole village, and just barely he could see the sparks from a bonfire.
That’s where the light was coming from.
Techno glared at the cavern and gripped Phil’s arm almost painfully. As quietly as he could, he pulled Phil forward until they were standing right against the entrance. The only thing protecting them from whatever was in there was a giant boulder.
Phil was about to whisper to Techno when a shadow moved against the wall. Techno let out a sharp inhale as an enormous hairy tail thumped down in front of the entrance. The black and white patterned fur would almost be pretty if they didn’t know what it was connected to.
It only stayed still for a moment though before it retracted back into the cave. As soon as it disappeared Phil let out a breath he didn’t even know he was holding.
Techno squeezed Phil’s hand and let out a deep sigh.
“I’m going in.”
Phil gasped, but before he could stop him Techno had left the cover of the boulder. He curled into himself expecting to hear screams and the sounds of violence, but he was only met by silence. After a few seconds, he carefully looked into the room and saw a nightmare.
Techno stood stock-still in the middle of the cave staring up at the largest creature Phil had ever seen. Luckily the black and white giant seemed to be asleep, but its tail still whipped back and forth aggressively. Its sharp claws twitched in its sleep, and every few seconds its mouth would open just enough to show off its jagged teeth.
It knows you’re here, Phil’s mind warned, Don’t you remember what happened to Kristen?
He tried to brush off the venomous thoughts to no avail.
It was still asleep, they were still safe.
“Techno, get back,” he hissed. The man didn’t react though. His hand just gripped his sword’s hilt tighter.
“Techno come on we’ve-“
Before Phil could finish laughter rang out around the cave accompanied by the sound of footsteps. Phil couldn’t even get back behind the boulder himself before a giant green eye blinked open at them. Techno yelped and tried to run. Meanwhile, the giant flinched away fearfully.
Everything went to hell faster than Phil could even process.
The laughter came to a halt as the giant’s tail lashed out at Phil and Techno. Techno slashed at it with his sword, but the tail still caught on Phil’s leg knocking him into the wall. His breath left his lungs, and for a moment he thought he would pass out. Through his hazy vision, he saw the giant pressed against the other wall while Techno aimed an arrow at its face.
Before he could release the shot a familiar voice ran out across the room.
“Techno stop!”
When Tubbo ran out from behind the giant followed by Tommy, Phil’s body kicked into overdrive. Quickly he dashed forward and grabbed the kids in his arms giving Techno the chance to shoot.
A loud gasp left the giant as the arrow hit its mark. Phil yanked the kids towards the entrance, but before he could get far a sharp pain shot from his arm.
Tommy had bitten him.
“Let go!” the teen screeched as another loud yelp escaped the giant.
Phil squeezed him tighter, “We’re going home!”
Tubbo kicked out at his legs.
“Dad please!”
Suddenly a loud crash accompanied by a screech echoed throughout the cave. Both boys turned and watched as the giant tried to pry its way out of a giant barbed net.
The contraption had been created by Sam, Phil remembered. It was a small metal ball that would open into a net when thrown, with weights to keep the creature down.
Phil had never been more grateful for the engineer’s ideas.
Techno approached the giant and stabbed stakes into the net around it. It wouldn’t be getting free anytime soon.
“Dad please, please stop please,” Tubbo cried as he punched weakly at his stomach. To Phil’s surprise, even Tommy’s eyes were tearing up.
Phil would have to deal with them later...
Techno fumbled through his bag until he found a small vial of purple liquid. Phil recognized it as the tranquilizer potion they usually used on stray lionwolves...but for lionwolves they only needed a drop.
With a shout, Techno slammed the whole vile onto the giant’s face.
A pained roar escaped the giant until its eyes fell shut. The potion was so strong Phil guessed it would be sleeping for at least a couple days...they would have plenty of time to deal with it.
Techno turned back towards Phil before a loud squeak came from behind the giant. Tiny footsteps echoed against the walls as the same piglin from earlier raced up to Techno. Its tiny fists desperately hit at his legs, but Techno just kicked it away.
Still stuck in Phil’s arms, Tubbo screamed.
“Dont hurt him don’t hurt him please!”
In a matter of seconds, Techno had the piglin in a net. It let out small frightened squeals as Techno flung it over his shoulder.
“Michael,” Tommy wheezed through his tears.
Phil sent his son a sharp glare before dragging them out of the cave. His sons kicked and cried the whole time, but there was no way in hell Phil would let another person get killed by a giant.
He wouldn’t be as weak as he was last time.
The whole way back they were followed by the sound of Techno’s footsteps mixed with the frightened squeals of the piglin. If Phil’s mind wasn’t blank with rage he almost would’ve felt bad for the young creature. But as it was, his family was the only thing on his mind.
Techno and him had a lot to tell the guard...and his sons had a lot to tell them.
“Ready for a story Mikey?” Ranboo asked, his tail swishing back and forth happily.
Tubbo leaned back with Michael propped against his chest. It was Michael’s bed time (and Tubbo’s soon), and getting the piglin to sleep was a pretty big ordeal.
Every night they gave him his favorite snacks, got him cleaned up in the river, and brushed out his fur.
It was after all that they got to the piglin’s favorite part. Before Michael’s bedtime they always told him stories, and once they got chalk Ranboo would draw pictures while he talked.
Michael nodded excitedly and reached up towards the giant. A small yawn escaped his lips, but the hyper wagging of his tail showed Tubbo he would get through at least one more story.
“What story will you bless us with tonight big man?” Tubbo yelled up to the giant.
Ranboo’s tail twitched in Tubbo’s direction, “Are you making fun of me?”
“No,” Tubbo grinned, watching Ranboo wipe off the chalk from the last night’s story, “Come on Michael tell him in not making fun of him.”
Ranboo’s head turned towards the pair just in time to see the little piglin squeal at him happily.
“See? He agrees.”
“Uhuh,” Ranboo chuckled as he bent down to look at the tiny piglin, “What story do you want Mikey?”
Tubbo laughed as the little piglin shook his head in distress. He was alwa us indecisive about it, but Ranboo never seemed to mind.
“Alright alright, what about a new one?”
Michael squeaked with excitement, accidentally elbowing Tubbo in the chest, before settling back down next to the human.
“Alright bud. This is an old one,” Ranboo hummed as he drew a giant green circle on the wall.
“This is the forest,” Ranboo explained as he drew a couple trees, “it’s where we live! And it’s very different from the world around it.”
Taking a white piece of chalk he scribbled in the space around the circle.
“Nowhere else is like the forest, and it’s because of one giant-“
“Pa! Pa!” the piglin interrupted happily.
“Not me,” Ranboo grinned, “It was an ancient one. It’s the biggest giant that’s ever existed.”
Tubbo held the piglin closer as he squirmed around in excitement. He loved seeing how happy both the giant and their son got during the story time. It was so peacefully domestic that Tubbo wanted nothing more than to stay in the moment forever.
“Long long ago there was a giant bigger than this entire cave! It walked on all fours almost like a dog, but it was peaceful,” Ranboo drew a scribbled drawing of a green dog-like monster with a human face, “It even had a whole maze of caves and tunnels just like this one all on its back.”
Dramatically Ranboo drew a huge group of stick-figure people and giants all surrounding his “dog”. The sight was almost enough to make Tubbo burst out into laughter, but he held it in.
He knew he’d be in trouble later if he messed up Michael’s bed time.
“Humans used the tunnels running through its back like a jail. The giant would take their worst criminals and use its giant shell to keep them from ever escaping,” Ranboo’s gaze fell on Michael with a smile, “Meanwhile giants would follow it to take the fruits that grew on its back. Special trees only grew on its shell and it was said they made giants ten times stronger!”
Tubbo yawned and almost instantly Ranboo’s tail moved to rest over his body. Luckily the piglin enjoyed this just as much wrapping his little arms around the thin appendage.
“But not everything was perfect,” Ranboo coughed, getting Michael’s attention back.
“One year there was a really bad drought- it means there was no rain. Humans and giants couldn’t live, but the ancient one knew how to help. He dug his way into the ground and became part of the forest, bringing the rain back for everyone. It’s even said you can still find his tunnels.”
Tubbo cocked his head with a sly grin, “How’d that bring the rain back? Didnt it just die?”
“No,” Ranboo scoffed, “Its called magic Tubbo. You’re just no fun.”
Michael interrupted them with a loud squeal and reached his hands up to the giant,
“Wha’ next?” he fumbled.
“Well, we live on it now! The giant is part of the forest,” Ranboo said, holding his hands out in front of him.
Michael frowned for a second before stuttering out, “step on ‘t!”
“Huh?” Tubbo squinted.
“Step on ‘t! We step on ‘t!”
Ranboo tilted his head, “We step on it?”
The piglin nodded in distress and frantically tried to pick up his small hooves from the ground, though all he managed to do was topple over.
After a few seconds a soft huff of air left the giant’s lips, “Oh Michael it’s okay. It can’t feel it, it’s magic remember.”
The piglin frowned again but seemed to take the giant’s answer. He relaxed a bit before a loud yawn shook through his body.
“Tired?” Tubbo asked softly.
The piglin rubbed his eyes and waddled over to where Tubbo was already nestled in Ranboo’s tail. As soon as he got close he stumbled into Tubbo’s arms.
Ranboo smiled down at his tiny family and purred at the touch, “Alright, I think it’s bed time huh?”
Tubbo gave the giant a thumbs up and grabbed the kid in his arms before they were both lifted to the giants chest. After a little bit of maneuvering they were both nestled up against the soft fur above Ranboo’s collarbone while giant fingers wrapped around them like a blanket.
“Night Boo,” Tubbo hummed, pushing his hand against the fur.
A content purr was the only response he got before he drifted off to sleep.
If its a piglin behavior to tounge bath groom eachother, does Michael ever try doing it to his family? Tubbo, Tommy, or Wilbur, and its not very effective because of the size difference but he tries with Ranboo to.

Aweeee yes :”>
Michael tries to groom his family whenever they hold him even though he really can’t do much. He’s way too small compared to even the humans when he starts to try to clean them, but they still find it pretty cute. And he always gets really excited when they let him
Even though he enjoys tongue bathing the humans he loves doing it to Ranboo the most. It’s completely ineffective since he’s minuscule compared to Ranboo but it makes the giant so happy it’s worth it. Michael will perch on his face and lick as much as he can while the giant purrs and rests his hand overtop of him
Notes: early in the AU fluff because it’s good for the soul :]
Ranboo got so used to the feeling of Tubbo sleeping in his hand that whenever he felt stressed he’d subconsciously start to rub his thumb over his palm. Sometimes he’d even hold a rock or lead in his hand to play with with his thumb. It wasn’t until later he realized he was mimicking the exact same way he’d rub Tubbo’s back while the human slept
Tubbo will scratch Ranboo’s head while he’s fishing. Ranboo loves feeling the humans hands against his scalp but his favorite pet is when Tubbo scratches around his horns. It’s hard for him to scratch there himself so he can’t stop himself from putting his rod down to focus on the human’s administrations
Tubbo will walk on Ranboo’s face with Michael to try to teach him words. He’ll point to parts of the giant and repeat it until the little piglin grunts it back. It also helps since if the piglins really struggling he can focus on Ranboo’s lips to figure out the word. Usually Ranboo finds it cute, at least until the time when Tubbo poked him in the eye to teach Michael the word “see”.
Since Ranboo had never gotten to celebrate Halloween Tubbo brought over pumpkins from the town to carve at the den. The piglin had trouble carving so Tubbo did most of the work while Ranboo tried to keep the child away from any sharp tools. However, Michael felt so sad that his giant dad couldn’t carve one himself that he drew a giant pumpkin on the wall with chalk for Ranboo to decorate. By the end of the night only Tubbo’s pumpkin had a face, and even though Ranboo didn’t really get to participate, he was so happy he had a family to celebrate with he didn’t mind
