Is it possible for people to be 'blends' of two different types? Some people claim to be but that doesn't really make sense to me. I know some people have better developed auxiliary, tertiary and so on functions so maybe that makes some people get confused and identify as more than one?

Hello anon! I agree with you, I don’t think it makes much sense. Someone might be undecided between two types, but that scenario makes me think that they haven’t been typed in a conclusive way, I don’t think you can be more than one type at the same time unless you have more than one mind. 

There are some confusions that I can understand (x must coincide in each case):

E vs. I

Exxx and Ixxx because you’d use the same functions in a very similar order. Since introverts’ first cognitive function is introverted, they might come across as extroverts if they have a powerful auxiliary function because it is the one that is shown (you can’t see what’s happening inside their minds, introverted functions don’t usually give clear signs). 

F vs. T

 xxFx and xxTx. We have two scenarios here. a) ExFP - ExTP // IxFJ - IxTJ:  in this case, both will share the dominant and inferior functions. Solution: determine whether the person uses inductive or deductive reasoning or any other way to solve the Ti or Te paradigm. b) IxFP - IxTP // ExFJ - IxTJ:  this one is quite different, the shared functions are the auxiliary and the tertiary. Solution: find out which one is the individual’s dominant function. 

N vs S

xNxx and xSxx. Again, two scenarios.a) ENxJ - ESxJ // ISxP - INxP: they will have the same dominant and inferior functions. Solution: determine the auxiliary function. b) INxJ - ISxJ // ESxP - ENxP: they share the auxiliary and tertiary functions. Solution: determine the dominant function.

J vs. P

All this taking into consideration that the xxxP and xxxJ confusion DOES. NOT MAKE. ANY. SENSE. xxxP and xxxJ are completely different types that use the functions in an absurdly divergent order. If someone thinks they are either e.g. INTJ or INTP, I’d suggest to stop taking binomial tests and switch to cognitive functions.

I get along with everyone well, people generally really like me. If I don't like someone it's a big deal, and it probably means they're evil. I'm kinda edgy, and often mistaken fora tj at a first glance. I'm happy, but also a bit of a moody rage ball 😉

Your cat died? That's sad, my cat died last year. I was really sad. *says some really encouraging stuff* *but is completely clueless and possibly insensitive when they haven't been through the same thing as you and don't get it*

I made that person cry... I'll explain I didn't mean to do that. They're still crying? Look, I told them I didn't mean it that way. They'll have to deal with it, I didn't do anything wrong.

These people are attacking my moral beliefs! This is greatly upsetting me. I can believe people are this thoughtless and cold... THEY HATE ME! *retreats to be sad and depressed and feel unloved*

T vs F with People

F types

Want to connect with people for the sake of it, it's how they're wired. A depressed F type will avoid people. Specifically:

Fe: Wants to connect and find a social group, or fit in with one. Finds it easy to find a point of connection with everyone, may struggle to open up personally. When depressed, will focus on the negatives and how people don't care for them as much as they do, etc.

Fi: Wants to connect and create personal friends, their own social group. Can find a point of connection through their own personal experiences/feeling. Can create deep attachment and open up quickly if it feels right. When depressed, will focus on how useless they are and how their friends don't understand them etc.

T types

Don't want to connect for the sake of it, struggle to genuinely connect without a reason. Enjoy company for fun, not likely to open up or wish to. When depressed, seeks company and deep relationships. Specifically:

Te: Wants to discuss ideas and achieve goals - is aware people are needed for this, aims to be kind and liked. Struggles to open up or engage on a deeper level, not sure what they're looking for to connect. When depressed, wants a close friend and uses Te to go find one (and as a heads up, a high Fe user is a really good find here, cos they're happy to let Te force them into a close friendship without context).

Ti: Wants to deal with people as much as is necessary (aka as little as possible), enjoys them as a puzzle or form of entertainment when feeling outgoing. Struggles to accept the idea thst genuine connection and vulnerability is needed - wants independence, nor community. When depressed desperate to find community and be understood. May become irrationally angry and upset when no one they know understands them or sees their pain, even though they've never articulated anything before. The hardest type to save from these feelings, because Ti can be very closed off and hard to read. Can quickly turn into victimisation, so pls, tps, seek out what you need rather than waiting for it to come to you - just a little bit.

T vs F decisions

I think this makes sense

Ts like to make an emotional selection and then justify it with facts and logic

Fs lie to make a logical decision and justify it with feeling and conviction.

Examples:

~Ts~

The t type chooses to date someone for emotional reasons - I've never felt this way before, this person is pure magic, etc. But they'll justify being together with logic - we're good together, we have the same goals, etc. If the t type starts dating someone for logical reasons, the emotional side won't necessarily follow.

Similarly, a T type may choose a religion/house/anything really by going purely off how they feel - the people are genuine, God feels real here, this house feels like home. Once they feel something they can't explain (basically feelings), they'll begin to justify their decision with logic and facts so that they don't feel overemotional. This is why t types can sometimes be very strange and illogical 😂

T types should not over mystify feelings and trust they'll be enough to sustain a relationship/belief system/life decision -logic can apply to your feelings too*! Feelings are fleeting, and sometimes it's logical to ignore them.

~Fs~

An F type chooses to date someone for logical reasons - they're nice enough, we have similar goals, etc. They justify this with feeling: I've never felt this way before, this person is pure magic, etc. An F type is unlikely to date someone seriously without the logical side being considered, because they don't want to be hurt!

Similarly, an F type may choose a religion/house/anything really by analysing the facts and logical pros and cons - this God seems legit, this house is close to work, this job pays well. Once they feel they have found something solid, they'll allow themselves to attach feelings to that final decision, absorbing it into their identity.

F types should remember logic can sometimes be defied very well, so feelings aren't invalid. Logic doesn't take into account exceptions or morals, so sometimes it's best to ignore logic.

Balance ⚖
