Can I just say we might not be in the same fandom by any means, but I for one absolutely adore your Edward, and it really is a delight to see your love for him. Makes me want to revive my own blog for our local fullmetal gremlin, but the fandom seems dead and I really am hesitant especially with so many other amazing Eds. All in all I really would love to write with you someday. / @heavenpierced​

i honestly did a double take when i got this. sorry for bein’ slow since honestly? i was kind of shocked to get this. i consider myself a very confident person, but taking on edward elric? and with all that’s been going on in my life so i haven’t been able until now to really, really get back to my roots? this means a huge damn amount. while it wasn’t the first anime i saw, fma 03 was the first i finished,  and everything about edward and the cast just mesmerized me. it was unforgettable to me and the story while it is very, very different and not necessarily the ‘canon’ story like the manga / brotherhood, it stuck with me and it still does, always will.  to me fma is a fictional masterpiece transcending its genres, and you can’t go wrong with any media of it. period. it’s just that damn good. rambling about how much i love edward elric under the cut / a lil insecurity / thanks.

i’ve been watching ed / reading ed my whole life, he left such an impact on me as a younger girl and as someone who never cries, lemme tell ya, this goblin made me cry constantly. he made me feel and i’m horrible at that. to this day for me he remains in my opinion, and take it with salt, the unprecedented ‘shonen but not shonen’ protagonist of animanga. of course there are tons of animanga protagonists but for me, there’s only ed as my favorite, and favorite animanga character period.

so...you can imagine i was genuinely daunted when i felt this pull to finally take on the challenge of writing a genius. an unprecedented ‘master alchemist’ at only 12-15-onwards until literally fighting god / solving the truth of the universe. ed is such an iconic character not for his alchemy, his power, his insane intelligence . . but his unmatched heart and his humanity and the growing love of humanity over alchemy.

safe to say i was really, really even me, if you know me my friends know i’m really confident? that i was daunted by this. my favorite animanga character, who’s stuck with me and ruined my life most....of said life? and i finally got the courage and guts to write him. i don’t know what i’m doing half the time, i know i take copious amounts of notes at even the tiniest quotes or phrases or tics of his body language, i pour over brotherhood like a fanatic... and i know the best part? i’m not the only edward out there who adores him like i do. much less fans of fullmetal alchemist. listen, i’m not aiming to be the authority and no one can be on him. that’s why it’s so cool we all have diff takes.

 ed left an unbreakable impact on me and countless others, and i think that will never change. he’s an incredible example of fiction really turning life around.

so...as long as this is, my advice to you is while i personally just hang with the fma folks who want to hang since i am very very new here? not in knowledge but in writing ed boy? follow your gut. i’m still shocked someone thinks i’m doing a good job because i’m constantly editing and i rarely do that but he’s starting to feel natural? bit by bit? like a lil UNBURNT HOUSE. (i really went there)  because i just remember so much. he’s stuck with me and if this long ass essay isn’t saying anything i am literally an edward elric stan.

honestly? find any fma blogs you like. support them. if you wanna write ed, hey, no one can nor has the right to stop you and should support you.

honestly i this year have admittedly been stressed at how slow i’ve been on him because i thought i’d pull out way more ... i blame it on my personality type, stubborn and willful. i still have relationship asks from fma verse based characters / castmates  friends long time that send me lil things. i have so many memes that i haven’t deleted that i plan to get to. and for a while i wondered if i could do this. people have to understand i’m immensely willful, stubborn, confident and thrive off a challenge. edward to me, in all his genius, is a challenge. i am smart but i am not the genius of the series. i am not the protagonist that can make his own code at 15 that not even his highly skilled brother can read.

so basically? thank you so much. i don’t seek validation, i always feel pretty confident because you only have one set of hands to write and a mind to analyze..... but it actually really does feel good that someone likes my ed! and i encourage you in whatever endeavors y’wanna go with be it fma or anything else.

oh and by the way? you absolutely can write with me. insert edward screaming or edward being a soul in bleach because i’ll be honest my pal, i know very little of bleach but we can make something work.

it’s really neat that folks like my ed. i’m happy either way on my portrayal but it feels like icing on the cake...or in ed’s case an apple pie with whipped cream. that he probably analyzes even while eating it.
