Slaves of Magic fantasy turn-based tactical strategy game holds hope for Linux and Steam Deck, beside Windows PC. Thanks to the amazing creativity of developer Amethyst Dreamers. They just released a new gameplay trailer along with the final content patch (1.4.0) for the demo. Which is also playable on Linux via Proton, with further plans.
While there is no native Linux build at the moment, we always test the build on Linux through Steam Proton.
Slaves of Magic runs on a custom engine made with C++, SDL2, and OpenGL. This setup is pretty powerful, and the developer is happy with how it performs using Steam's Proton. But here's the exciting part: if there's enough demand, a native Linux port may be in the cards.

Customize Your Team Lead a squad of 6-8 units in combat. Due to fully customize their gear and skills to suit your strategy.
Tactical Combat Positioning and teamwork are crucial. Use the environment and your squad’s abilities to sabotage the invading forces while completing your missions.
Replayability Slaves of Magic is designed for replayability. There are different invading forces with unique enemies, and the campaign AI reacts to your strategies. You won’t be able to see or do everything in one go, so there’s plenty of room for experimenting with new approaches.
Permadeath Characters can — and will — die permanently in combat. This adds an extra layer of challenge and realism to your strategies.
The Story
In Slaves of Magic, the world wasn’t ready for the invasion. So in just a few months, every kingdom fell to the magic wielding invaders pretending to be old gods. But humanity isn’t finished fighting yet. The brave ones have a secret shadow council and chose you to lead the resistance. Your job? Save the world from becoming slaves to these false gods. You’ll be managing bases across the continent. Each Slaves of Magic region has a unique culture, providing different equipment, skills, and resources. Balancing the strategic importance of these regions is key to your success. With multiple invading forces and a reactive campaign AI, no two playthroughs are the same. You won’t be able to access or afford everything in one game, so there’s always a reason to come back and try new tactics. Your invasion story will be unique, and humanity is counting on you to rise to the challenge.
