The Mysterious Murasame Castle
They're finally all done. I never want to do this again. 🙃
Welcome back to Roster Wednesdays.
Today, we're doing a sequel to Smash Bros. Double the Roster with Super Smash Bros. Melee.
Here's your roster:
Reasons for characters:
Wario, DK Jr., Ganon, Gooey, King Dedede, and Leif: Carryovers from last time, though Wario was the first on the list if Melee had time for one more character.
Lugia, Meta Knight, Sukapon, Diddy, Mr. Saturn, Mew, and Toad: Characters that made top 20 in the 'If there was a Smash 2 poll?'
Excitebiker, Mach Rider, Ayumi, Takamaru, Urban Champion, Balloon Fighter, and Bubbles: Ice Climbers were added as an NES rep, they weren't the only ones for consideration however...
Clefairy: Was actually in consideration for Smash 64. It was between her and Jigglypuff to see who made it in. Luckily, we're early enough in the timeline to add them in.
Snake and Sonic: Hideo Kojima and Yuji Naka wanted their respective characters in Melee but it was too late to add them.
Charizard and Wolf: Whenever people talk about extending Melee's roster, these two are usually added.
Slippy: While this hypothetical roster had more time/resources/ease of development, even the number of clones had to be doubled.
Which duo of newcomers was your favorite?
Toad and Diddy Kong
Meta Knight and Mr. Saturn
Slippy and Wolf
Charizard and Clefairy
Mew and Lugia
Excitebiker and Mach Rider
Urban Champion and Sukapon
Ayumi and Takamaru
Balloon Fighter and Bubbles
Snake and Sonic

Did you touch this when we got it on the Virtual Console?
4/14/1986, JP got Nazo no Murasamejo (The Mysterious Murasame Castle) on the FAM Disk System! It & THE Legend of Zelda were the add-ons' first!
In Edo Japan, Takamaru must kill an alien possessing a big Murasame statue.
New Scan:
I couldn't find this The Mysterious Murasame Castle art online, so maybe it hasn't been scanned before, or maybe image searches continue to get worse and worse? Either way this scan is from the 1987 Suntory Ade Orange Nintendo Famicom Calendar. Alt Text: This The Mysterious Murasame Castle art shows the main character, Takamaru, with his sword drawn and surrounded by enemies. There are 3 bosses and multiple ninjas. The sky is stormy and there is a dark castle in the background.
Would Takamaru from The Mysterious Murasame Castle have a Zigzagoon?
Yes, they would
No, they would not
see results :3
Please reblog for larger sample size :)
