And I will tell you my:

First impression Sukapon is someone who stuck with me the moment I saw him purely for his appearance. A pink, floating thingy with a simplistic face-- which I love. Certain things would remind me of them too: namely a sigma 1s bonding orbital, and a certain manufacturer's version of Divalproex 500mg (I think they stopped making it though). I understood that Sukapon had a simple yet recognizable look. Also he's a robot, noice.

It is, however, a pure coincidence Sukapon also happens to have floating limbs. I just think they're cool. (Though don't bother to ask me about Rayman, thanks!)

Impression now I have since played and finished Joy Mech Fight thanks to the Nintendo Online thing, so now people can't say I'm a fake fan and like Sukapon simply for her appearance. Obviously, there isn't much to go for their character since the game itself is very straightforward (and old, and literally the same plot as MM1 somehow) but I can see the silliness of Sukapon's initial purpose in her battle moves. But overall, he's a joy to see, and not that hard to draw. So I love Sukapon very much.

Favorite moment There's this one animation Sukapon does on the title and/or ending sequence where he bops his head up and down while in place. It reminds me a lot of something that budgies do.

Idea for a story I think I had a idea once where Sukapon was offering to cheer someone up (I forget which Assist swordie with relationship issues it was...) and she was going to play pretend as a girlfriend. Of course, knowing how goofy she is, it wasn't helping at all but she tried.

Unpopular opinion I don't think it's unpopular, but this little weirdo is my Retro Pick.

Favorite relationship Sukapon is friends with everyone.

I like placing him in to random places, he just wants people to be happy. So a fun dynamic to work with in regards to the Smash Assists. I can also see her and Spring Man beings pals because ARM N'HANDMER.

Favorite headcanon Sukapon responds to being referred as a boy, girl, or non-binary robot. At first people thought it was some ongoing bit he was doing, especially as when asked about the subject her response was always, "Yeahyeahyeahyeahyeah". Perhaps they're just happy to be Sukapon.

What knowledge does everybody have regarding Nintendo switch games created exclusively for Japan region? Any Nintendo Japan exclusive game characters on Nintendo Switch that should be known we should talk about?

I don't know anything about what all Japan-exclusive Switch games there are, but I do think they'd be known about without much issue, and language barriers would only exist if they're depicted that way in Smash (e.g., Cloud and Sephiroth speaking Japanese in all versions, or the Inklings speaking their own language).

What I do know is that there have been multiple Japan-exclusive characters already (though not for Switch necessarily): Marth was Japan-exclusive until late 2008 (after Brawl's release), Roy and Lucas are still Japan-exclusive outside of fan translations, and Sukapon was technically released outside of Japan via NSO but Joy Mech Fight wasn't actually translated.

Welcome back to Roster Wednesdays.

Today, we're doing a sequel to Smash Bros. Double the Roster with Super Smash Bros. Melee.

Here's your roster:

Reasons for characters:

Wario, DK Jr., Ganon, Gooey, King Dedede, and Leif: Carryovers from last time, though Wario was the first on the list if Melee had time for one more character.

Lugia, Meta Knight, Sukapon, Diddy, Mr. Saturn, Mew, and Toad: Characters that made top 20 in the 'If there was a Smash 2 poll?'

Excitebiker, Mach Rider, Ayumi, Takamaru, Urban Champion, Balloon Fighter, and Bubbles: Ice Climbers were added as an NES rep, they weren't the only ones for consideration however...

Clefairy: Was actually in consideration for Smash 64. It was between her and Jigglypuff to see who made it in. Luckily, we're early enough in the timeline to add them in.

Snake and Sonic: Hideo Kojima and Yuji Naka wanted their respective characters in Melee but it was too late to add them.

Charizard and Wolf: Whenever people talk about extending Melee's roster, these two are usually added.

Slippy: While this hypothetical roster had more time/resources/ease of development, even the number of clones had to be doubled.

Joy Mech Fight is one of those NES games I've always been really fascinated by but haven't played or know too much about- but I was surprised to learn there's a pretty niche audience still talking about it!
