Anybody want to say Fuck AI and Fuck Datacenters? Please help our desert community by signing this petition!

The biggest take away from looking at the community impact and numbers? This proposed 198 MW Data Center in Inyokern will use an estimated 40% of the pumped water in this valley per year, even with their "efficient" hybrid (wet/dry) cooling system. 

That's right - 2.6 billion (yes, with a B) gallons per year or 7,900 acft/year. Insanity in a desert water basin with already one water district (Inyokern Community Services District) declared "unable to provide safe water" and the entire water basin declared in "critical overdraft" (we overdraw what the mountains replace from snowpack) in 2022.

The proposal includes a path to citizenship for many "Dreamers" — undocumented immigrants who arrived in the country as minors — and beneficiaries of temporary protected status (TPS) and deferred enforced departure (DED). The 2019 Dream and Promise Act could provide permanent immigration status to millions of people. Badger your Senators in re Pompeo’s nomination

Several Democratic Senators have suggested that they don’t approve of Pompeo as Sec. of State; however, they approved him as CIA director. Contact them! It may take a procedural maneuver to bring the nomination from the Foreign Relations Committee to the floor (see below, and here); nonetheless, it could happen next week.

And feel free to pump Schumer for a commitment to get Democratic unity on this; Rand Paul is against Pompeo and McCain hasn’t been around, so one Democrat would be necessary to ultimately confirm him. Bonus: as Majority Leader, it’s perfectly appropriate for non-New Yorkers to contact him as well.

Today's action (and it's SERIOUSLY QUICK AND EASY): call Paul Ryan about the Affordable Care Act and press a button. No need to speak to anyone. Took me 2 minutes and it's literally life and death for so many people. Paul Ryan is conducting a phone poll on the ACA (Obamacare), hoping to hear overwhelming popular opposition to it. If you would like to express your support for the Affordable Care Act, call 202-225-0600. There will be a couple moments of silence after it picks up, so just wait through this. When it gives you options, press 2 to weigh in on the ACA. You'll hear a brief recording about HR-3762, Paul Ryan's proposal to gut the ACA, and President Obama's use of his veto power to stop it. Then, you will have a chance to indicate your opinion with the press of a button. Press 1 if you support the ACA/Obamacare. It's that easy. If it redirects you immediately to Speaker Ryan's voicemail, please call back. It personally took me four tries to reach the survey but even with that it took two minutes. Paul Ryan's plan to gut the ACA includes a provision to restrict federal funding to Planned Parenthood for 1 year. Remember wherever we are, this affects us all. We are stronger together.
