Confused

Ok first off why in the world do these things happen? I understand that when this was going on I was younger and what not but I’m just a little bit confused. I have friends from high school that I still talk to. I know shocker. But like come on really?!?!? Why not then? Why now? Why me? Like seriously I understand growing up in high school you’re a little insecure about feelings and confronting them. But I think it would have all been better if you/y’all would either get your shit together grow some balls or ovaries and just tell the person you like how you feel. If you wait until you haven’t seen them for years to tell them how you feel then you may have missed your chance. They might be married and have a family of their own. Stop doing this 10+ years down the line. If you like them tell them. The worst they can say is no. And I know that may be a little hard to hear when you are going through puberty cuz you’re all in your emos and if they do say no then you might be crushed but come on. You might be crushed but sweetheart it’s not going to be the end of the world. If you wait until y’all are grown up then you’ll always be left wondering what if. What if this? What if that? How many this? How many that? Point is shoot your shot now rather then later. Cuz you never know if the feelings will be reciprocated. SHOOT YOUR SHOT!

Throwback Thursday. ✌🏻 . This girl is from a lifetime away! This was when I was in Ireland on a trip I took through my undergrad with a bunch of people I didn't know. . I'm a very shy, introverted person but I wanted to go in this trip so badly and I'm glad I did! . Sometimes it takes 10 seconds of insane courage to do something you've never done that will lead you to something amazing. . I met new people, I learned about Irish culture and explored the country for almost 3 weeks! . If I was too nervous to go on that trip I would still be regretting it. . Leap of Faith

The Backstory:

If you don’t take a chance, how will you ever know?

I was 53 when I signed up for my first 5K race. I had no clue what would happen, or if I could even finish. I was mortified that I would be dead last and would have to do the “Walk of Shame” over the finish line.

At the starting line there were elite runners stretching and chanting their race mantras, cute young women with bare midriffs and “get out of my way” determined looks in their eyes, high school kids who had coaches pepping them up with encouragement and rubbing down their legs…and then, there was me. I didn’t know how I was supposed to act, but I figured that I had paid my money and had gotten up at the crack of dawn to do this thing, so by golly, I was going to see it through.

Well, I finished. And, I didn’t come in last. I even won the women’s division of my age group! Of course, I was the only one in the women’s division of my age group, but they gave me the medal just the same!

More importantly, that day, the inner nerdy, wimpy core of me scored a lot more than a medal. I did something way, way outside my comfort zone, and found out that I love running races! Who’d a thunk it!

So, if you are considering doing something that you’ve never experienced, be brave, and go for it. If you flop, then that’s a good thing, you’ll learn what not to do. If you succeed, that’s a good thing as well and you’ll know if it’s something you want to do again. Either way, you learn and you grow.

But if you waffle on the edge and never try, well, the opportunity to take that leap of faith may be gone tomorrow.
