One thing I've been adding to my TTS fic that I only recently started think about but find interesting is the political ramifications of Frederic keeping the black rocks a secret, as well as the destruction/evacuation of Old Corona. Like, that would be a pretty big deal.
Yeah, we see a lot of Coronans are over it by Season 3, but we only really see the ones in the Capital, not the ones from other villages, who may have very different feelings on the matter.
The gang leaves right after everyone finds out in a high-stakes event where they don't have time to process the information, so we don't see the national reaction that would occur in the following weeks as the news spreads around. The next time we see Corona, it's during Season 3, which is a whole year after the reveal occurred, so people may have processed it by that point. The Saporians had also already taken over, thus changing the political landscape of Corona in general and disrupted any conversations about the whole thing.
But that doesn't mean conversations didn't happen at all. While the majority of Corona seem to live in the capital (probably 60% at most), there's definitely other villages spread out across it, and it's unrealistic for Corona to have all the land they do if that isn't the case.
The outer villages closer to Old Corona are more likely to have been directly affected by the black rocks, and may have wanted a warning. The rocks were dangerous threats people would need to account for safety-wise. They would destroy farmland and thus cause severe economic downturn. If a lot more people had to suddenly evacuate without much warning, it would cause a refugee crisis. Also, an entire fucking village was destroyed. And it was basically covered up.
The people in the capital were clearly against Varian even before the Saporian takeover, but what would other villages similar to Old Corona think? Especially if they heard some of his story/extrapolated some of it based on general facts? Not only were they not told about what happened to Old Corona (as far as we know), which is really important information, but Varian, who attacked the royal family, is the teenage son of the village leader.
If Old Corona's destruction was covered up, then Varian, as the son of the village leader, may have been kept silent, and it's easy to conclude he may have attacked because of what happened to his village and how the king was unhelpful. Not to mention the fact that Varian is a young teen. Do you really thing nobody would have some questions?
Realistically speaking, even if a lot of people throughout the kingdom were really loyal to the royal family, all of this would be a political disaster, and keeping the black rocks a secret (plus covering up stuff regarding Old Corona) would become a massive scandal. Royals and nobility have been in hot water for way less. Frederic would get side-eyed so hard.
Idk, I just think it's really interesting to think about, and I've had fun writing about the potential backlash Frederic would receive from Coronan nobility and various outer villages.
I love their relationship and the way they love each other. Every time I see them, I admire!
