The Pilgrim, Their God and The King of My Decrepit Mountain, Tapir! (2024)
The debut of south London six-piece Tapir manages to be both entirely beholden to its influences (Radiohead, Richard Dawson, northwest American indie) and still rather remarkable. Ambitious in its three-act structure, vivid in its naturalistic imagery, reverberant in its declarations and pleas, each of The Pilgrim… repackages the familiar but does so with heart, flair.
