I’m taking a small break with Ann and want to expand on my drawing. So I decide to draw similar to what did with the Sixtended doodle few months ago, expect with their monster form. I don’t know how many or which ones I will do, but I wanted to start with these two first.

one of the antagonist from the script I wrote (and need to doctor up its been three years gl) was most likely a Ijiraq or Tariaksuq from Inuit legend, given her design. And I want to adjust her so she has background that matches that lore better, but not a carbon copy. Here’s a source

But the creature doesn’t really fit into that lore, since it’s just a creature by circumstance and not a direct result of the cultures beliefs. I prefer that sort of jux creation to the ‘it is X because of B’.

basically, a man elk thing with a broken neck, bundled in the furs of animals to hide its actual form. I would go as far to call her a sort of fairy, which is what the man that encounters her believes her to be, based on his heritage. But she serves the same function as in some stories, recounting this cryptid will guide wandering spirits, or make men lose their way.

it is said that, for the most part, they are the same as any other human being. they have houses, families, weapons, tools, and more. where they deviate from normal people, however, is that they are not visible by looking straight at them. in looking directly at them, they either disappear into the separate world which they occupy, apart from our own, or they are only seen for the shadow they cast. they only become visible if they are killed.

Tariaksuq- commonly confused with ijirag. Live in the shadows- acts like humans (families, houses, tools, etc) can only be seen if killed.

The Tariaksuq or shadow people were said to be a race of hunters that prowled the frozen tundra, unable to be glimpsed if looked at directly they appeared as a caribou/human creature to one's peripheral senses.
