So I’ve seen ⭐’s asks about the species of the Sixtended characters in my Monster au, and I love the ideas that were suggested
I threw in my own about Arthur based on some sketches I had already drawn and I drew my interpretations of the suggested species.
1. Satyr!Percy: I will always approve of goats or goat based characters and Statyr!Percy is such a fine Caprine. For some reason Percy being fanservicey is a trend when it comes to me drawing him, eh...give a character abs why wouldn’t you want to remind everyone he has them? even when said abs are fuzzy
2. Ogre!Arthur: A while ago I decided that if Henrat ever appeared in the Monster au he’d be an ogre. Unfortunately I also decided that one’s species is shared across bloodlines (this will become relevant if I ever draw the kids) so unfortunately Arthur is an ogre by association. But seeing as I’m a huge Zoology nerd I decided to make Ogres basically carnivorous, humanoid hippopotamus’s. Living in swamps and muck, are extremely territorial and aggressive. Arthur is still kind and gentle, but being an ogre he’s even more freakishly huge than before. And also ugly as dirt.Arthur’s transformation is triggered by guilt over him being unable to stop his brother. As well as fear that he and his brother have more in common than he’d like to believe.
3. Phoenix!Mali: I can thank Pandora for partially doing the hard work for me. But I decided to take direct inspiration from Bearded Vultures, because they have dope red feathers and eyes. She is by far the least human out of all the monsters, but all of the transformed characters are still part human, so she’s still kinda human.
4. Tariaksuq!Jane: This actually reminds me a lot of Specimen 8 from Spooky’s Jumpscare Mansion (long time followers will know that it’s one of my older fandoms) So I had to work in something similar, hence the dark cloak. And I joked to myself that she now looks like a Sith Lord. Also I don’t know if tariaksuq or Jane are supposed to be ‘fangy’ but in order to emphasize the ‘monster’ aspect I added some small sharpened canines. ‘Cause why not?
And I added a height chart because I like height charts
I’m taking a small break with Ann and want to expand on my drawing. So I decide to draw similar to what did with the Sixtended doodle few months ago, expect with their monster form. I don’t know how many or which ones I will do, but I wanted to start with these two first.
I realized these two have contrasting colour schemes and motifs’ (Cold and heat) and I had to draw them
Jane - @altairtalisman
Mali - @pandora-dusk
Mali saw that within the beast’s frightening exterior Jane was trapped inside still wracked with despair for her failures. The physical and mental drain on her had left her feeling nothing but pain and guilt, guided only by her most primal survival instincts.
But Mali didn’t accept that...
She wasn’t going to let another loved one down, she may still be haunted by the mistakes of her past but she was sure as hell not going to repeat them.
So Mali swooped down and embraced the beast in a warm feathery embrace, the blazing inferno that surrounded her dimming into a gentle warmth. At first the beast, not realizing what was happening brayed and thrashed its head with fear and aggression. But suddenly it remembered...
what it felt like to be loved, the gentle affections of her lover. The Beast stood there, the pain and guilt thawing away like frost under sunlight. The beast remembered who she was, what it felt like to be loved, and the overwhelming yet relieving feeling of forgiveness.
A single tear fell down the beasts cheek, how was it even possible that Mali could still love her despite Jane letting her suffer. Then Mali whispered into her ear
“I was never mad at you...and I don’t care if you’re a monster...I just need you with me now”
It was in that moment Jane realized that it was her guilt and pain that had entrapped her...
I was prepping an answer because I knew it would be long. However, when I went to check for it again, it disappeared! Tumblr was an ass and probably deleted the ask you sent :'( I'm sowee!
Well, rage aside, regarding your ask:
Yes! Ro's Monster AU is beyond amazing and I love it!!! And for my Mali? Hmmm...the first thing that came to my head was a Phoenix. Why? It goes on for a bit so click below uwu it literally talks about Mali's silent hatred for herself.
A bit of context: Personally, I think what is believed of the Phoenix kinda suits how I portray Mali. For instance, a Phoenix resembles rebirth which obviously points towards Mali's reincarnation. Mali thought she was brought back to have a second chance. She was ready to do good in this life and was eager to reunite with her sister. However, Mali was burdened with her brother's disgust towards her. Her brother hated her for being devoted to Lutheranism and even had her almost at sword point. Bearing this in mind, she then began to believe that her opinion doesn't matter.
'No one cares about what you think' was what she told herself over and over again.
Her own stress and sweat triggered her transformation. Everything was burning, inside and out. Her insides burned and it was excruciating. Even her own tears and sweat couldn't put out the flames. Well...her own tears and sweat couldn't solve anything anyway. In form of a Phoenix, Mali could cry no longer. The watery tears would only hurt her fiery form more.
From what I've read and believe, a Phoenix represents a balance. It brings both creation and destruction. Mali only wanted to bring in an element of happiness to all those she meets in her new life (Creation). However, because of her fear of disappointing people and having her opinions thrown away, she found herself physically tearing plans apart and crying it off (Destruction).
A Phoenix resembles purity to display her own purity in her past. She never married or had any intimate activity with anyone. She remained pure until her dying breath.
And finally, a Phoenix is hinted to in the Bible. It represents several things such as the stuff I've mentioned above. Nonetheless, Mali doesn't care about that. What she fears most now is that she has become a symbol of Christianity, something that made her past a nightmare. She's frightened as she thinks that it was her brother who did this. Her brother was enraged with her dedication to Lutheranism that he even held a Christian funeral (I think) after she died. Now in the form of what her brother wanted her to believe in from the start, she's afraid that Lutheranism has turned its back on her too.
And thus her fear grows more and makes her more insecure.
And a smol sketch because I was inspired heheh uwu
