Have you ever wondered what it's like to have something on your body that doesn't really belong to your body? Awful. Unfortunately I've met so many tattooed people who know this feeling very well. Of course, cover-up tattoos or laser removal can help, but what about a tattoo instead you will never regret? Here's a quick list to check before booking an appointment.
1. Time is your friend.
Let's say you suddenly see something on the internet or an exciting idea crosses your mind. A minute later you're calling the tattoo studio and booking an appointment because you're so excited to get this tattoo right before summertime. Impulsive decision making is not the best idea when it comes to tattoos, so this is the biggest no-no. Let it sink in; print it and leave it on your desk, set it as background on your phone, so you will see it all day long - just like a tattoo on your body. After a few days if you still think it's a good tattoo material and you're not bored with the design yet, then you're a big step closer to a tattoo you won't regret.
2. Forget fashion.
There's some new tattoo trends every year. Following trends may be a good idea on stock market, but not when it comes to tattoos. Don't let the actual trends fool you, go with your own style and get a tattoo that really represents you, your life and personality. You are the only constant variable here, trends are coming and going.
3. Beware of photos.
Most of us usually browse the internet starving for good tattoo ideas which is completely normal and a good starting point. But you always have to keep in mind that a tattoo never looks the same on everybody. Why? Because we have different skintone, different curves, different style and we wear different clothes. These details on photos can easily lead us in the wrong way and make us fall in love with the whole photo - but remember: we're looking for tattoos only.
4. It's my life.
Ideally you're getting this tattoo for a reason, right? But how will you feel about it 20 years later? It's really not important and it's not a thing you should worry about. We have to understand that each tattoo represents a moment or a checkpoint in our lives, so when you look at your tattoos, keep in mind that the feelings attached to the actual tattoo are eternal, it's a part of your life even it's good or bad. This way all your tattoos will seem timeless and they will become a real part of you.
5. Try it on.
Most of you may think temporary tattoos are for kids only. You're definitely wrong. Are you one of those people who are a bit hesitant before big decisions? Let me tell you: tattoo is a big decision and you have to be dead sure about it. Temporary tattoos can help you, big time. You can literally try the design on before getting it for your whole life and it costs almost nothing compared to real tattoos. It's not a shame at all, so ask for a temporary version of the design and help yourself making the right decision.
