How do you think Viren from Dragon Prince kisses?

That's a great question, Nons! I'll take a crack at it!

Viren: For a man who is so composed and precise, he is exceptionally heated in his kisses. At first he is slow and careful, straining to maintain his composure and collected demeanor. It's like he's working to maintain his control but as the kiss goes on that all evaporates. Viren seems to keep everyone at a certain distance from him so I think he's touched starved. When his grip on himself breaks, he is almost desperate, heavy-breathed against your lips. He is also extraordinarily handsy, palms eager to touch and feel all that he can reach. He will hold you to him tightly and when he finally pulls back from the kiss, Viren will be breathless and flushed.

Oh man this is a hard one!

Am I allowed to pick the “You are so...” line from 3x05? The fact that Callum literally can’t think of words to end that sentence floors me. And the fact that it ends in a kiss that conveys everything he’s feeling that can’t be described through words? Y e s.

Other contenders include: 1) Harrow writing about “the greatest lie in history” in 2x06: 2) Ezran’s speech about being king in 3x02; 3) Soren’s speech about his father in 3x08.

As a side note, a comedic line that gets me every single time is the Ruthless joke from 2x04. That will never not be hilarious.

1. which primal source do you relate to most? (sun, earth, sky, moon, stars, ocean?)

So I actually took this test and got Ocean and I actually think it’s pretty accurate so I’m gonna go with it :)

3. which character do you relate to most?

I relate to Runaan for the following reasons: I have quite aggressive RBF so am assumed to be cold and distant. I am logical, which can come across sometimes as calculating. And most importantly my entire heart belongs to Ethari

12. what are some of your favourite headcanons?

I mean this is a hard one. I enjoy all headcannons where Runaan is a disaster gay. I also enjoy headcannons where it is Ethari that is the disaster gay, or where they are disaster gays together. I enjoy headcannons about rayllum fighting over whether Horns count when figuring out who is taller. I adore headcannons that Tiadrin is a smoll fireball of don’t mess with this while Lain is basically a golden retriever and that they would do anything for each other.

 I basically enjoy soft headcannons about domestic life and love of these characters because I adore them all so much. 

17. what is your favourite line from the show?

THIS IS SO HARD because I’m torn between the super epic speech that King Ezran gave about not following in the footsteps of his father (a super epic speech) and when Amaya signed that Janai thought she was cute but wouldnt admit it yet (totally my humor, also I would die for Janaya)

19. how many adoraburrs would you try to stack on one finger?

um all of them? Callum in the adoraburr meadow = exactly what I would do. those things are so cute (and stackable!)

what are your thoughts on the idea that harrow blames viren for sarai's death and why he is hesitant on virens creative solutions to quote "Not only did Sarai object to it pointing out how nothing had shortcuts, but she also lost her life during the mission because of it. After something as traumatic as losing his wife due to them using dark magic, of course Harrow is going to disapprove of Viren using it for more "creative solutions"."

Man, you really like the hard questions. That’s not a complaint, those are the most fun ones to answer! Sorry for taking a while to do so. 😅

I mean no disrespect to the person from whom the quote was taken; but, technically, dark magic didn’t kill Sarai. Yes the mission was supposed to be a way to gain materials for a dark magic spell, and Sarai did die on the mission, but dark magic was not what caused that. This is not an, “X=Y & Y=Z, therefore X=Z,” problem. This is an, “Event X caused Event Y which led to Event Z,” problem; a domino effect. If Event y -the mission- never happened, that is to say if Harrow rejected Viren’s proposal, Sarai would not have died (event Z). Unlike equality, which remains a reality even if the y factor is unknown (like how “red panda” = “lesser panda” = “red cat-bear”; you don’t necessarily need to know what “lesser panda” means to know the other names refer to the same critter), events don’t solely rely on the results of a single previous event; they are influenced by multiple ones of various “sizes,” individual decisions of the persons involved being the smallest of them. If Sarai hadn’t decided to join the mission to the border, then she wouldn’t have perished; if they had left earlier, then Thunder wouldn’t have caught them; if Viren hadn’t suggested using magic, then they wouldn’t have had to go to the border; if Harrow hadn’t agreed to aid Duren, then they wouldn’t have needed to use dark magic at all! Do you see what I mean? Sarai’s death was the result of multiple choices, made by multiple people, in multiple circumstances, all of which could be blamed for the incident. With that many variables, it’s impossible to say that event X directly caused event Z, because event Z could only occur, as we know it, if event Y’s subliminal influences allowed it to -in domino terms- “fall” that way.

Harrow would have recognized his own part in the death of his wife and probably blamed himself, not dark magic. Dark magic, to Harrow, is a tool. It is not inherently “good” or “evil” but is incredibly useful in a wide variety of situations and, while requiring some sacrifice, usually comes with a big pay off. Which is why he’s been cautious but still willing to utilize it for the last ten years. Judging when the outcome of an action is worth the potential harm and required sacrifice is the type of difficult decision that faces a leader. Every. Single. Day. Choosing to use dark magic is no different to him than having to choose whether or not to share the kingdom’s supplies with the citizens of Duren, at the risk of causing his own subjects to also suffer. If Harrow hated dark magic (like king Uther from BBC’s, “Merlin”), Viren wouldn’t currently be in such a high position of power and certainly wouldn’t have his own lair of -partial- solitude, they also wouldn’t have used dark magic to slay Thunder.

I, personally, believe that the reason Harrow was so against using dark magic to save his own life is because it doesn’t benefit anyone else other than himself. He can’t morally justify the sacrifice for the outcome....and, in a way, I don’t think Harrow would even want that outcome. From what we’re shown, Harrow seems to favor choices that will preserve or improve his relationship with others. If he was only concerned with the safety of Katolis, then he would have denied the Queens’ request for aid. They wouldn’t have held it against him. He was, after all, only recently crowned king and would likely be afraid of such a risk. But he accepted. A choice which earned the respect and goodwill of the queens and their subjects. That, to him, was worth the shared suffering of the people and the eventual decision to use dark magic to save everyone; a utilitarianistic approach. Trading places with one of his guards, or Viren, would mean taking that person away from their friends and families, probably causing them to loath the king....and they’d have every right to. Imagine how difficult it would be to see the face of a loved one, and know it’s not them; knowing that someone else is living within that meat suit you knew so well....no one deserves that pain. Besides, what would his sons think? It’s not like he could hide the fact he’s in a completely different body! No. Harrow would rather die as a “good man” than stoop so low. Leaving his children might be hard, but they won’t be alone, and -most importantly- they won’t hate him.

Do I think Harrow blames Viren for Sarai’s death? Not outright, no. As a monarch, diplomacy, even in the most trying of times, must be maintained. Especially with one’s own court. Even if Harrow does resent his old friend, he couldn’t afford to act on those emotions. Repressing, denying, and taking the blame on himself is far less damaging in the long run (Utilitarianism at it’s finest). However, in those moments before Viren body swapped him and pip his demise, he finally allowed himself to be angry with the sorcerer. Harrow allowed himself to let go of his duty as a king, his diplomatic attitude, decorum, all of it, and brought that self righteous subordinate to his knees. Of course, we have an inkling of how that came back to bite him in the ass.

9. a moment where you went “god i wish that were me”

Sarai when she’s fighting Harrow! Hot damn that was fun! I adore sparring conversations, especially when the moves reflect the motion of the conversation itself. It might be hard to tell who’s winning the argument if you only listen to their words, but Sarai absolutely kicked Harrow’s butt, and they meant for us to see thatl

Contrast that with Runaan fighting Rayla. They’re talking and fighting, too, and the winner/loser is equally important to the story. But I wouldn’t want to be either of them in that situation. That was a lot rougher, emotionally speaking, than Sarai and Harrow’s duel.

11. who do you think is the Big Bad of the show?

You know what? In a shocking twist, I bet there isn’t one. It’s not Aaravos. It’s not Sol Regem. It’s not Viren. There is no Big Bad. Because there is no single large problem to be overcome. Life is a series of small and complicated problems. Every character embodies a small problem, and they all have to rub along together to get by, to survive, to find peace. That’s how life works, and I think that’s how the show will work, too.

19. what you’re looking forward to see more of in the next seasons

I have a fun notion that the arcs of the three sections of The Dragon Prince will follow the three concepts Harrow mentioned as belonging to the narrative of love: vulnerability (Books 1-3), forgiveness (Books 4,5), and love (Books 6,7). I’m most looking forward to the forgiveness section, if this pans out the way I hope, because it’ll mean two things:

we’re done hurting all our lovely characters quite so much during their vulnerability phase, and

the elves and humans, and probably dragons, will begin to cross lines and team up for reasons that have to do with their values more than their prejudices, and to do that, they’ll have to begin understanding where each other is coming from, and to accept those alternate viewpoints as valid. Rayla and Claudia fighting something together? Amaya and Runaan? Tinker and Viren? Bring on all the reluctant alliances!

23.  what representation would you like to see on the show in the future? (lgbt, disabilities, race, spiritual beliefs, veganism, etc)

I have a new headcanon as of today that Rayla’s dyslexic, and I’ve been exploring the notion that Soren might be autistic. I’d also love to see an ace character just allowed to be ace. Aaravos, if I had my druthers, but I’d also accept anyone else.

On more of a “crack theory... unless...?” level, I would enjoy seeing that Moonshadows who fight with two swords also figuratively swing both ways and that Ocean elves are gender fluid.

27. who has the best hair?

It’s Runaan, hands down. Long white elf hair is always gorgeous, but he bothers to braid and style his hair not only for beauty, but for battle. That’s a tactical hairstyle, fam. If Aaravos would only do something with his glorious mop, then there might be a competition. But there isn’t, thanks to Tinker’s gift of silver-doodled hair cuffs. (bless you, Tinker)

For the 5 things you think of when you hear them thing: Tinkaan

1. Protective - Tinker made the ultimate weapon for Runaan which ensures that Runaan is prepared for ranged and hand to hand combat and the necklace to keep him safe from a potential ambush or accidental discovery. Plus it's part of a pair so Runaan knows that Tinker is safe when they're apart.

Runaan is definitely protective too, he's an assassin so Tinker would never be in danger as only someone very foolish or stupid would hurt an assassin's significant other.

2. Mature - These two have probably known and been together for a long time so their love is well past the honeymoon period and has evolved into a deeper love.

3. Power couple - These two are definitely a force to be reckoned with and could or will change Xadia for the better.

4. Hard working - These two would not have gotten where they are today without giving all they had both in their professional and personal lives. They're from 2 different races and backgrounds so they've had to overcome alot to stay together.

5. True Love - Is the concept of true love in this show? No, but they definitely are and if True Love's kiss was possible it would absolutely work between them.
