How likely do you think it is that Dany will get a good ending in the books? Nothing like that putrid show ending. I keep seeing articles by people saying that Dany is gonna burn KL in the books and that George told that to the hacks… except he never did. And I know for a fact that even the most shocking things, George likes to lay out the groundwork and give some foreshadowing like how Dany saw the Red Wedding in the House of the Undying. Seeing as you are a book reader, do you see anything that points to Dany having anything remotely similar to that gross show ending?
I believe Dany will have a good ending in the books! :) Not just from foreshadowing in the books, but from interviews from G.R.R.M as well. Dany is one of the key main five characters in ASOIAF that I believe George said would make it to the end. Now, I don't know exactly if he meant she would live, but she is a very integral character to the books, her plotline is one of the biggest, he literally made the Targaryen history for her, and he's admitted that he loves her character and he would choose her to be a ruler.
People who say that G.R.R.M said she will burn down KL are dumb. Because he never said that. George has already denied the theory that Dany will burn down the Water Gardens, so why have her burn down another place instead? She isn't 'mad' in the books, nor do I believe that his ending will be the same considering
George said that the book endings would be VERY different from the show.
He has expressed a LOT of frustration over the fact that D&D (and now the directors of HOTD) changed his story to their own fanfic and ruined his characters/world while excluding him.
George has already set one person to be the 'Mad Queen' of ASOIAF and the most foreshadowed to burn down KL, which is Cersei, who has parallels to Aerys II regarding cruelty and the obsession with wildfire, has a prophecy about her downfall which leads more to her paranoia, is only 'redeemable' through her love of her children (who are all prophesied to die anyway), and is a FOIL to Dany. D&D basically took Cersei's book plotline and shoved it onto Dany in the last season- especially by having Jon kill Dany when people speculate that it might be Tyrion or Jaime who's meant to kill Cersei in the books.
There are absolutely NO points or foreshadowing regarding Dany burning down KL in the books. D&D had butchered the HOTU scenes badly compared from the books to the show. There has been no indication that Dany would EVER do that to KL just because of who she is as a character. It would be a VERY ooc thing to do, considering Dany has always been known to care about the innocent and wants to protect them, having a role as Mother in the books to her dragons AND her people.
Considering she herself thinks this:
Dany had no wish to reduce King's Landing to a blackened ruin full of unquiet ghosts. She had supped enough on tears. I want to make my kingdom beautiful, to fill it with fat men and pretty maids and laughing children. I want my people to smile when they see me ride by, the way Viserys said they smiled for my father. -A Clash of Kings - Daenerys II
So, no, I do not think that book Dany will share show Dany's ending AT ALL. George is a much better writer than that, and seeing as he knows the hate the fandom gave D&D/the show for ruining Dany's character and making her very OOC in the season that shall not be named, I doubt he would make the same mistake.
