#technological difficulties

I downloaded Twisted Wonderland yesterday!

I've been obsessed with the game (and Malleus) for about three years now but I was never able to actually play the game until now

At first it kept giving me a connection error message and it took me over an hour of googling and messing with my settings to get it to work

But it was SO worth it, I played it for *checks screentime* 3 hours and 23 minutes wahoo

Also friended my best friend and it's so funny cuz she's been playing for five years and she's so much more powerful than me

But that means I can use her cards as guest characters in battles hehehehe

My computer (third-hand, 6 years old) randomly gave up the ghost on properly displaying anything in favor of displaying beautiful, retina-burning, constantly flickering lines of neon pixels in 5 of 6 columns (always one column is doing something different). This has made doing work a little difficult, but it’s nothing a little ignoring can’t fix!

Me: *clicks shortcut on desktop to open up Sims 4*

Origin: *pauses for a solid minute or two*

Origin: Nice try, but you have to use the Origin client to open up this game!

Me: Oh, I thought it was open, but maybe it's not?

Me: *double checks that Origin is open, uses in-app "Play" button to start the game*

Origin: "Origin is currently not running"

Me: Yes it is! I checked!

Origin: Haha, you thought you could play this game just because it's worked fine on this computer before and you've done nothing to change the settings since then?

Me: Uh... yes?

...next thing I know, Origin is going to try to frame me for murder. I just want to play the stupid game. At this point, it'd be easier to fucking pirate the game, but I've legally obtained it, so I'd really prefer not to.

In short, fuck Origin, fuck EA, and fuck capitalism in general just for good measure.

Personal Ramblings (03/20/2019)...

So, get this... I was updating files on my flashdrive today. I like to back up ALL my pictures and writings on a flashdrive. Anyhow, as I was updating, something went horribly wrong. An image saved to the flash drive was corrupted. It caused several issues. That also means that, that same image is on my laptop. Which isn't a good thing. Because now I have to sift through 98 folders of photography, fandoms images, and other images to find any corrupt image. This is going to take me a couple of days. It sucks, but it has to be done. I actually have two flashdrives. One holds images only. The other holds my writing and other documents. This is what I dealt with when I returned from my friend's house today. Sometimes I hate technology.

some of you may recall that my desktop did not survive our move last July

so I took over the husband’s old laptop (he had two because one does not take a laptop you care about when you are going to be deployed in the sand box, as the army puts it, because transit and windstorms and crap electricity and the aforementioned sand) and hooked it up to my monitor and keyboard and mouse and never quite finished setting it up how I wanted but it was perfectly functional

for about six months

because today the cooling fan died

which is slightly more stressful than the usual annoyance of not having my technological connection to the rest of the world, because I do still have my phone and our really old netbook (neither of which are good for tumblr dash browsing, but they’re enough to manage assorted messengers and email and writing, so HEY if you want me to see anything you’re legit going to have to tag me for awhile)

BUT

I was trying something a little different for my January Jubilation giftee, and I have now lost it all

and I’m not sure if I can re-do enough of it to make it still a decent gift? if I can finish a fic that doesn’t feel kind of cheap?

or if I should email Holiday Harbinger when there’s still ten days to find a pinch hitter?

my phone has been doing this stupid thing where it's fully connected to our wifi with 4 bars and everything but suddenly decides it actually doesn't want to give my apps access to the internet so my phone just becomes a brick. it only started doing this a week ago and has done it like 3 times so far. i have zero clue why it does this suddenly, i've searched for every possible solution and explanation and nothing. and it's only my phone. xbox, tablet, computer, tvs work perfectly fine

When you reply to someone's message and your message gets sent but then you see the other messages they had sent before you replied but those messages had lagged so you saw them after and now you're stressing that they think your response is for a different message than the one you were intending it for

Well that's craptastic. Forgot to clear out my pictures folder before beginning play, so naturally, none of the photos I took today transfered over.

Now to run back to the computer and hope the recycling bin did not get emptied...
