I got a kudos for this story yesterday, which made me feel like reblogging it!
It grew out of a conversation with Tehta about this ficlet (”The Snake”, featuring hilarious dialogue between Glorfindel and Ecthelion), which I also would like to rec!

Tehta posted a new chapter of Stories Spawned By Sauron
Chapter 15: Of Moons
Chapter Summary:
The Fall of Gondolin tells us that: Salgant had told [Earendel] quaint tales or played drolleries with him at times, and Earendel had much laughter of [Salgant] in those days when he came many a day to the house of Tuor, loving the good wine and fair repast he there received. If you have ever wondered what kind of quaint tales Salgant might have told, well, here is your chance to find out!

May Fic Rec- Day 6 (oops)
Title: Flawed and Fair Author: tehta Fandom: The Silmarillion Rating: T+ Pairing(s): Glorfindel/Ecthelion Words: ~33.5k Series: The Theban Band of Gondolin (Size: Two) Summary: When Aredhel leaves Gondolin, Ecthelion is part of her escort. During the journey, he will have to deal with Finwe's grandchild, spitting Sindar, orcs, unlight, giant spiders -- and his unnatural feelings for Glorfindel.
So anyone who has ever talked to me about Silmarillion fic probably knows that tehta is one of my favorite ficwriters. She has a bunch of fics I love (if you’re not in the mood for something so long, Beleg’s Doom is a hilarious oneshot that’s unrelated to the other ones), but let’s start at the beginning. This fic is the first one set in her Gondolin series, and the first to inroduce us to her Glorfindel and Ecthelion, who have basically forever become my favorite versions of the characters. Her sense of humor is a strange sort of combination of dry and witty with completely absurd that is rather difficult to properly describe but never fails to completely kill me. The humor builds- the stories have constant in-references and inside jokes within themselves, so the reading becomes more and more enjoyable the deeper in you get. But ultimately, the events are funny (I’m a particularly big fan of the comedy-of-errors plotline of the sequel, Strange Fortunes), but ultimately the comedy comes from the characters. Glorfindel and Ecthelion’s tendency to bicker and misunderstand each other and get into endless circular philosophical discussions is oddly endearing, and the supporting cast is just as good- her Aredhel and Maeglin are absolute gems, and I love her Egalmoth, Idril, and Salgant (well, love to hate Salgant XD) as well. Most of all I’m impressed at how much she has managed to flesh out characters who are effectively just a list of names, and turn Gondolin from a distant tragedy in the past of Lord of the Rings to a living, breathing, (entirely silly) place.
The one aspect I’m not a huge fan of on principle is giving elves a homosexuality taboo, but I like the way that Unnatural Desire (yes I did mean to capitalize that) is handled well enough in this series that it doesn’t really bother me.
(Warnings: See each fic in the series, generally no big ones)
//Sempai noticed meeeeee ^^ Dzień dobry, cześć i czołem, miło mi powitać cię rosołem :P
Two fic recs (Silmarillion )
I just noticed that Tehta posted two of her classic stories on the Silmarillion Writers Guild. I would highly recommend them.
Sand and Flame by Tehta General A retelling of a very well-known story. Features Fëanor and Nerdanel as young geeks in love.
The Quick and the Dead by Tehta Adult Months have passed since the Nirnaeth, but Glorfindel and Ecthelion are not quite over it yet. Contains dark themes, humour, and slash.
