Out West
Apropos of nothing, here's a photograph I made Out West quite a while ago. We're in downtown Salt Lake City: I believe I'm standing on W S Temple Street, looking eastward toward the Wasatch Range.
On the left side of the street we see the Howard Johnson's Motor Lodge—which seems to be the Plaza now. Further down on the same side we see Assembly Hall and the John Smith Memorial Building.
On the right side of the street, the Temple Square Hotel seems to have been replaced by a new building with the words, Deseret Book Company on it. Deseret was to be the name of a state, but was never recognized officially by the United States Government.
