Ten Random Lines Pt II

It’s been a long time since I’ve done some writing games and I miss talking with the fandom, so I thought I’d do a follow-up of this one!

Here are some more random lines that I enjoy from my Hitman fics. Feel free to share your own or tag someone who might be interested! 😊

Summer Wine (Songs and Silencers): Teen and Up

Diana secured her desk and turned out the light. As she returned to bed and closed her eyes, she hoped to fall asleep and dream a new kind of dream. That one night she would open the hidden panel in her desk to find the gun missing, a familiar shadow approaching her from behind. 47 returning to take back what was his. All that was his.

2. Lacrymosa: Explicit

Lips lingered as they drank each other deeply, emboldened with the knowledge that touch outmatched time in the swift healing of injured hearts. 

3. Under the Moonlight: Mature

He pressed his lips to hers without hesitation, hoping she could feel what he felt for her through such a simple action. It was an experience he had only known for a few months, but he found kissing Diana to be as natural as breathing. And that night, with the moonlight making Diana as radiant and divine as the goddess of her namesake, 47 felt like a fool if he didn’t take the opportunity to worship her.

4. Divine Revelations: Teen and Up

“Tomorrow is never guaranteed,” he said quietly. “You should tell him how you feel. The love you seek may not be returned, but the knowledge would hurt less than the pain of regret.”

5. Unwrapped: Explicit

Perhaps he would speak to her about the ache in his chest tomorrow. Tonight, he would fight the sleep in his eyes a little longer so he could enjoy this moment of Diana in his arms. It was his birthday, after all. He could indulge in a dream.

6. Five Minutes: Teen and Up

He seemed to fascinate her, and she caught his interest in return. Diana was the first person to see him as more than a number. She was the first person he felt he could trust.

7. Business and Pleasure: Explicit

“It’s dangerous to be distracted.” She could see a hint of hesitation on his face, his true concern for getting so lost in their memories that he ignored his objective in the present. His hesitation was short lived as she caressed his cheek and leaned in close, a mere breath away from his lips. “Danger never stopped us before,” she mused. “Why stop us now?”

8. Flight of the Sparrow: Mature

“Mr. Webster, you must not be familiar with the tales of sparrows.” Diana looked over to the pieces that remained of the ornate bird on the sofa. 47 readied his silencer. “Some say the sparrow is the harbinger of death. Should you capture one, you would be wise to kill it. Otherwise, your life will meet its end.”

9. Irresistible: Explicit

She gasped in a mixture of excitement and surprise as he tossed the lacy remains aside and sucked on her collar. “You’re going to pay for that,” Diana admonished, nipping his ear playfully.  “I’ve been paying for it all day,” 47 growled in desperation.

10. All Eyes On Us: Explicit

They embraced through the night as the lovers they were meant to be, comforted in the knowledge that while the Riepers’ honeymoon was at its end, their chapter was just beginning, and together they would always remain.

1. Boots That Touch at the Toes (Una Chin-Riley/Christopher Pike, T)

Heat cracks like fire across her hand, sharp and searing as numbness gives way to life, Chris’ breath hot on her skin, his exhalations steady, even as she shudders.

His lips brush her palm, pain fading as quickly as it started. 

And her throat sticks with thank you and oh my God and don’t go.

2. Hello, Again (Una Chin-Riley/Jack Ransom, T)

“Captain,” Una turns toward Chris, all business, “I can recreate the solution Starfleet Academy devised to correct for the temporal imbalance in the planet’s atmosphere, which also explains the trouble we had with transport. It should take about a week to refit the transport ionizers, plus run a few tests.”

“I can help.” Jack flexes a bicep that didn’t need flexing. “Double Number One fist-punch to the problem.”

Is Una chuckling? Jack’s joke wasn’t that funny. Not compared to some of the really funny stuff Chris says. 

3. The One That Is You (Una Chin-Riley/Christopher Pike, M)

“Yeah, I’m going to go back in time.” My toes nudge her ankle monitor. Not enough for the metal to dig into her skin, but enough to remind us both of the present. “Someone once told me that she refused to believe there isn't another way. I listened. Now she’s in prison and I’m trapped in a war that the Klingons say could have been avoided if I’d met my fate. So, yes, I’m going to go back in time and convince my younger self to do what’s right, not what’s convenient.”

4. Hold My Hand and We’re Halfway There (Kelly Grayson/Ed Mercer, G)

“Hey there,” Kelly holds up a bottle of wine, “I wasn’t sure if this was business or pleasure, so I brought a red blend.”

“Because, ‘Sometimes being a little blended is the best way to enjoy all the cultures that blend to form the Union,’ right?” 

He expects her to chuckle. 

But her head tilts, light catching her hair and playing across her cheekbones. “Did you just quote my father?”

5. Chrysalis (Una Chin-Riley/Christopher Pike, E)

“What?” Chris pulls away just enough to look at her, confusion and pride chasing each other across his face. “One of the Talosians said that you … you fantasize about me?”

How is it possible to be more embarrassed the second time? Her cheeks warm, not even the distraction of irritation at an alien probing her mind available to save her.

6. Synchronous Orbit (Kathryn Janeway & Tom Paris, G)

“I remember what you said about wanting my help to find the Maquis.” He forces his hands to rest on his lap, fingers splayed, useless. “But we both know you could have gotten that information and not taken me along for the ride. This has been the best seven years of my life and … before I go … I want to know why.”

Her chair, always so quiet when the ship pulsed with activity, creaks again. He swivels and the captain is the same size she’s always been, yet also somehow smaller.

“Looking back can be dangerous, Mr. Paris.” She glances toward the viewscreen, then at him. “Sometimes the best course is forward.”

7. The Haze (Una Chin-Riley/Christopher Pike, T)

There’s a rustling from his darkened alcove, then quiet again. “I’m glad not knowing your past is pleasant for you, Una.”

Maybe he’s not listening well because he’s very tired and having trouble falling asleep. 

“The haze is pleasant. Not knowing my past can be confusing. I like when you explain things so I can understand.”

There’s more rustling. “Is that why you didn’t want to go into your quarters? You didn’t want to be by yourself without someone there to explain things to you?”

8. Gotta Admit, It’s Pretty Sweet (Churrolivia/Jack Ransom, T)

Jack is about to ensure his irritation is clear in his voice, but he remembers just in time — he promised Olivia he would try to be more patient with the ensigns. So Jack’s pecs rise with a deep, calming breath and he calls out as cheerfully as he can, “Come on in, Ensign Mariner.” 

She waltzes in like she owns the place, sits crooked in a chair as if she’s Captain Riker or something. “Hey, do I smell cinnamon?”

9. The Melody of You (and Me) (Una Chin-Riley/Seven of Nine, T)

There’s a chuckle from Seven.

“This,” Seven squeezes Una’s hand, “isn’t solely your affections. You’re worried about me tripping and falling with my ocular implant low on power. I’m all right.”

10. City Lights (Seven of Nine/Liam Shaw, T)

He sits heavily in the chair across from her, all clean scents of soap and shampoo. “Look, Hansen, my buzz is nearly gone and I’m not exactly in the habit of entertaining mesmerizing company as yourself, so —” 

Mesmerizing? The captain is a lot of things, but he’s not a liar or a flatterer.

Her cheeks go warm, both from the unexpected compliment and from the frustration that balls her fists and hardens her voice. 

“So why don’t you call me by my damn name?”

Lego House | Explicit “I love you,” Stiles said quietly. He tried to push away the thought that this might be the last time he’d ever get to tell Derek that. Derek froze, then slowly drew back. “Say it again,” he whispered. “Please.” “I love you,” Stiles said softly, carefully watching Derek as he said it. He leaned up to kiss him, holding him close as he breathed him in. “For always… no matter what happens.” He knew that he’d love Derek in all his forms, and that was something Stiles would always be sure of. Derek kissed him, slow and wet and deep. “I love you,” he told Stiles. Derek kissed him again. “I love you. For always.”

Waterworld | Explicit Stiles sat on the edge of the dock as they sailed, the sun warm on his skin and the water misting him as it splashed against the hull. The last two weeks had been the most perfect of Stiles’ life. There wasn't any other way he could explain it. Being with Derek, being his mate, and feeling every part of him through the bond was something Stiles couldn't put into words. He could just feel it.  He smiled at the content feeling he received through the bond from Derek, returning it as he ran his fingers over the mark on his neck. Stiles had never felt more grounded and whole in his entire life. Even the anxiety he'd had about stopping on the merchant ship to meet Derek's friends had eased over the last couple of weeks, no doubt from Derek's feelings of assurance that they'd be okay. 

We Came As Romans | Explicit When Derek stepped into the tent, Stiles was indeed there. He was standing in the middle of the tent with only a leather thong wrapped around his waist, a thin length of cloth hanging down to cover his cock in front. He was quiet, a small smile playing on his lips, but Derek could tell he was nervous. And Gods, now Derek could see why Stiles had wanted the woad - it had been to create the designs, these intricate designs drawn onto Stiles’ skin, completely covering him, leaving nothing bare from his shoulders down. “You’re back,” Stiles said softly.

You Led Me Home | Explicit Stiles scooped up a bit more, blowing and chancing a look at Derek. “Do you want to try some?” he asked, feeling the hairs stand on the back of his neck at Derek’s gaze.  “You sure it won't ruin the surprise?” Derek asked, voice low. Stiles moved over to offer Derek the spoon in answer, careful not to spill it on Derek as Derek opened for a taste. “Oh, wow. Yeah, that is good.” The praise made Stiles beam.

Snacks From Up Above | Explicit “We don't have to talk about anything else. Just know that I love you too.” “I don’t think I’m ever going to get tired of hearing that,” Derek said, kissing him longer, with a little more heat. “At least, not for a good two or three hundred years.” He bent to scrape his teeth lightly over Stiles’ neck. “Maybe four.” Stiles laughed at that, tilting his head more for Derek. “Unless you’re some sort of supernatural creature I don't know about, I only have a meager one hundred years to live… so you must believe in reincarnation and in that case you better find me in the next life.” Derek chuckled and sucked another mark onto his neck. “I’ll always find you,” he promised. “No matter how many lives we live, how far apart we are, or what we go through, we’ll always end up together if I have any say in it.” “I wouldn't have it any other way…” Stiles kissed Derek again, rubbing his nose against his. “I promise I’ll wait for you to find me, however long it takes.” 

From The Wreckage | Explicit Stiles lay cuddled against Derek, head on Derek’s shoulder, arm and leg draped over him. Derek was warm and solid against him and for the first time in his life, Stiles felt safe and wanted. Cherished. Loved, even. His body ached in new places, pleasant aches that he wanted to remember forever and the mark on his neck still throbbed from the claim that Stiles wished could be permanent. He’d given himself fully to Derek, even if there were things that Stiles couldn't say. Things that would make everything worse because he had to go back to his father. More painful. But Stiles hoped Derek understood them. He’d been as transparent as he possibly could without speaking the words he wanted to.

Saudade | Explicit “It is, though. I let it take control of me. Some part of me let it in.” “You mean the same way I let her in?” Derek asked. “It’s taken me a long time to admit it, but she was the one at fault for my family’s death. The same way the Nogitsune is at fault for what happened to you.” Stiles was quiet as he stared down at his hot dog and then glanced up at Derek. He couldn't remember how many times he had told Derek that Kate was at fault and not him, how many times Derek had pushed him away after that. And hearing Derek say that now had Stiles looking at Derek as if he were seeing a new part of him for the first time. “It might take me forever to get there.” Derek shrugged. “I’ve got time.” He gave Stiles a small smile, his eyes crinkled at the corners.

Never Let Go | Explicit Stiles shoved the strawberry he was holding against Derek’s lips and it mushed against Derek’s face. Stiles laughed. Derek sputtered as bits of strawberry went up his nose and Stiles laughed louder. Derek glowered at him and grabbed two strawberries, then clapped his hands to the sides of Stiles’ face, squishing them against Stiles’ cheeks. Stiles gasped as the juice and mashed fruit ran down his face, taking the handful of blueberries he had and squeezed them before shoving them into the collar of Derek’s shirt, laughing at the look on Derek’s face. “You’re going to be purple,” Stiles said, laughing harder and rubbed his purple-stained hand against Derek’s beard.

A World Remembered | Explicit Stiles stared for a moment then relaxed, smoothing a hand down the back of the cub against his chest. “Hey,” he said softly to Derek. “Hi,” Derek whispered. “I didn’t mean to intrude on you… I just wanted to bring you these.” He gestured to the cookies on the table, his stomach still feeling like it was stuffed full of snakes. It seemed like no matter what he did he was going to feel off balance around Stiles. “It's okay. We were just taking a nap.” Stiles looked down at the cookies and smiled. “You can stay if you want. He sleeps like a rock.”

Holding On & Letting Go | Explicit Stiles literally face-palmed. “Elijah, where are your clothes?” he asked, already walking off towards him. “In the tree Daddy!” Elijah yelled, before he started spinning wildly in a circle. Derek choked back a laugh and put a hand on Stiles’ shoulder. “I got them.” “Well you’re going to have to because I can’t get in a tree,” Stiles said with a laugh. “God, he really is me as a child.” Stiles groaned and ran his hands over his face. “Elijah come here! No more naked running in the yard.”

Ten Random Lines

I just went through my ten most recent fics which are, not shockingly, all Tarlos except for the one Star Wars fic lol. Played fast and loose with three lines because sometimes they were weird without context. 

1. Car Crashes Call for Cookies

T.K. looks at the screen and sees several text messages and two missed calls, all of them from Andrea. “Crap,” he mutters as he punches in Carlos’ passcode and reads through them.

Gracías for your help today mijo. Text me when you’re home.

2. The One Where Carlos Can’t Leave the Couch

“Don’t tell T.K., okay?” Carlos asks. “He’s already smothering me, I don’t need him to know about this.”

“Pretty sure he’s going to notice the giant bruise on your ass,” Paul says skeptically. “But I won’t say a word.”

3. A Firefighter, a Cop, and a Construction Worker Walk Into a Bachelor Party

“Carlos Reyes, I’m here to get you fired up!” the man shouts, swinging the pants around over his head.

“Actually, technically firefighters are there to put the fire down,” Paul says as Mateo nods in agreement.

Carlos rounds on his cousin and his sister. “I am calling Tía Maria and letting her send BOTH of you to a convent, I swear to GOD  Cesca—No, no, no!” he interrupts himself as the man gyrates toward him. “If you touch me I will have you arrested for assaulting an officer!”

4. The Gift of a Queen

No wonder it feels as if his entire chest has been split open. Or perhaps that’s the grief. He’s no longer sure of the difference between his physical and emotional pain. 

5. Not a Booty Call

T.K. takes one more look at him. For such a confident, strong guy, he looks really small sitting here under the harsh hospital lights. “Take the medication,” T.K. advises. “You might not want it now, but you probably will tomorrow.”

“Yeah,” Carlos says. “Thanks.”

T.K. steps back out and the last image he sees before he sweeps the curtain closed again is of Carlos, head bowed, looking completely alone.

6. Look at Where We Are

“You got engaged in the middle of the night?” Marjan asks, a puzzled look on her face.

“Yep,” T.K. squeezes Carlos’ knee. “It just felt like the right moment.”

“Doesn’t Carlos sleep like a rock?” Nancy asks. “Did he even know what he was committing to?”

“Yeah Carlos, you know this means you’re stuck with his Catan cheating, Hawaiian shirt wearing, vitamin obsessed ass forever, right?” Mateo asks.

“I do,” Carlos says, smile still firmly in place.

7. Grilled Cheese

Carlos smiles and puts the hand that’s not holding a spatula on T.K.’s hip as he leans in for a kiss. “I thought you guys might be having a rough shift. So I came over to make dinner.”

Now that he’s not completely distracted by Carlos’ presence, T.K. spots a slew of half assembled grilled cheeses laid out on the counter and a crock pot of what smells like tomato soup. “I waited until you pulled in to heat up the pans, so everything would be nice and hot.”

“Okay,” Marjan points at Carlos as she walks into the kitchen. “You are the best 126 boyfriend. Hands down.”

8. An Awkward Position

“Sorry. But yeah, hopefully it’ll be okay.” He looks up at Carlos with a twinkle in his eye and Carlos knows what he’s going to say before the words even leave his lips. “Otherwise it might put some of us in an ‘awkward position.’”

“I knew you weren’t going to let that go!” Carlos says, crossing his arms over his chest in annoyance. “I didn’t know what else to say! I was trying to smooth things over! It was weird!”

“It was,” T.K. says coming to stand in front of him. “And then you made it weirder with your sexual innuendo.”

9. Save a Horse

He takes the seat across from T.K. and T.K.’s eyes immediately latch onto his boyfriend’s shirt. Because Carlos has definitely, absolutely, unbuttoned it exactly one additional button, and it’s revealing just a tiny bit more of his chest than it was before they came inside. It’s not obscene or inappropriate, but it is incredibly distracting.

10. Measure of a Man

T.K. bites his lip. “Isn’t running background checks on people who aren’t criminals a misuse of police resources?”

“I guess technically it is,” Carlos says. “But it was for a very good reason.”

“You abused your power for me. That is…so hot.” T.K. slides a little closer, a hand settling on the exposed skin of Carlos’ thigh, just below the line of his boxer briefs.

We’re not that close, she had told him, even if it had been slightly in jest. She had no right to watch over his restless slumber.

Only Mai could recognize the slight hitch of emotion in his voice.

“What do I need to do? Give over some blood, recite some spells?”

4. Unchained Melody / Fandom: Tale of the Nine Tailed (k-drama)

The moment broke when the music on her phone changed to something harsh and jarring.

5. The Last of the Real Ones / Fandom: Ghost Hunt (manga)

Luella told Eugene she believed him, of course. Mainly because she knew Oliver wouldn’t mess up his room for a prank. But no, she had not felt it.

6. Rebel Just For Kicks / Fandom: Final Fantasy XV (game)

Noctis pulled the truck to the side and went around the car. Ignis could see the fear-stricken faces of the passengers within.

7. A Noble Vow / Fandom: Pandora Hearts (manga)

She didn’t want to fall into another stupor and risk saying something stupid again.

8. Lost in the Echo / Fandom: Ghost Hunt (manga)

He dropped her off about a block from her home, and they never saw each other again.

9. Champagne / Fandom: Ghost Hunt (manga)

Why he had wandered down the liquor aisle in the first place was a good question.

10. Winter Bird / Fandom: Ghost Hunt (manga)

Taka and Chiaki had always treated her kindly – maybe a little awestruck, but they never put her on a pedestal, never confined her to a cage.

You Can Fall:

The name is here, hanging in the air between them, might as well be engraved on a sign around Patrick’s neck. Because even though he hasn’t seen him in a week, even though he’s only known him for a month or two, the silver strands of David’s name are already entwined in the threads of Patrick’s life, catching the light and making the whole tapestry come alive again.

Bon Hiver

Pulling on his sweats and runners, he tells himself he’s burning off energy, burning off pre-emptive calories. He’s only jogging into town because it’s close. He’s definitely not going as far as the motel. He’s not looking for anyone in particular.

Lies. All lies.

Oceans and Puddles (missing YCF scene: chapter 17)

He can hear the wind outside, lashing rain and pine branches against the walls of the cabin while they lie safe within, breathless and drained, warm and protected. Patrick grabs for David’s hand and tangles their fingers, needing to touch, to feel this unfaltering connection to the man he loves with everything, everything, everything that he is and has and ever will be.

Oceans and Puddles (missing YCF scene: chapter 5)

“You know, I’ve played enough hockey to pick up a couple of self-massage exercises, if you want me to take you through them?”

David’s eyes snap open, senses back on alert.

Self-what?

Working Out

It’s like a balm, their banter, and Patrick finds himself relaxing a little, although as soon as he lays eyes on the bench press he takes a hard right in the other direction—he’s not sure he can stand that particular … choreography just now. 

Open arms and wide awake

What David really wants to do is bury his fingers in Patrick’s hair, massage his scalp. He loves scalp massages, the little shivers that run down his spine as someone cards against the grain of his hair. And it’s a proven relaxant. None of that is why he wants to do it, but it’s all still true. He could tell Patrick all this and not have to feel guilty.

He chickens out. Professionally.

Head over heels

He has to know what he’s doing, right? There’s absolutelyno wayhe doesn’t realise what’s happening.

Patrick runs the backs of his nails lightly up David’s shin. David’s eyes roll back.

Come on, get higher, loosen my lips

“Well then,” he says now, dropping his voice to a tone he knows David responds to. “I guess I’d better give you something to do, then.”

“Mmm,” David purrs, approvingly.

Maybe This Time

“Sleep always felt like falling down a rabbit hole; dark and unrelenting. He clawed at the nothingness as he fell, desperate to clutch onto the pieces of himself that glinted just out of reach.”

Drain You

“I know, baby.” David placed a gentle kiss on Patrick’s temple and backed him up against the shower wall. “Let me take care of you.” David placed a soft kiss on Patrick’s jaw. “I’ll make you feel so good.”

I Could Get Used to Having You Around

“‘I have never cared about someone enough to put myself out there like that—to risk making an idiot out of myself if you didn’t like it. Or—if you didn’t want it.’ Patrick looked away as he said that last part and for the first time David felt like a dam had broken inside of him.”

I Can Fix That

“We started this store as business partners, David but then you did the most amazing thing. You let me know you and then you let me love you.”

Back Against the Wall

“Without warning, David bent down and gripped the back of Patrick’s thighs. He hoisted him up and pressed him back into the wall. Patrick's eyes widened at being manhandled. ‘Holy fuck, David!’”

No Matter What

“She thought about how fortunate Patrick is to have parents who accept him. But then a realization came crashing down. Patrick is in the most meaningful relationship of his life and he kept it from her for two years. He wasn’t 100% sure what would happen if he came out and her ordinarily take charge son was afraid.”

In the Weeds

“Hi, David. Um, I had a fun day and I know I’m just the numbers guy but it was nice to go out with you. To meet the vendor. I like spending time with you and I’d like to do it more often. If you’re interested. I mean, just us. No farmers. Okay, bye.”

Lost in This Moment With You

The Inescapable Inevitability of Another Life:

Two Truths, But An All-Consuming Lie:

Anakin Skywalker drifted off to sleep again with the woman he loved tucked within his embrace. His steady heartbeat lulled her to sleep, while her even breathing calmed his thoughts.

Trying Times to Tie Up Loose Ends:

“It’s okay, momma. We’ll be okay,” Luke told her from his place in Obi-Wan’s arms. Ever her sensitive child. Padme leaned over to place a kiss against his hair.

A Ray of Sunshine in a Cloudy Universe:

“Do you think they’ve left us enough time?” She asked her rescuer.

It only took a grand total of five days for the woman to eat her words. She did in fact grow curioser and curioser as the notifications continued to buzz on her phone.
