It's never too early to start using anti-aging products. Lather that shit on and say sayonara to crows feet. (Also: SUNSCREEN). Dating is like being in the kiddie pool at Six Flags. Sure, some of the people in the pool are cute, but there's always someone peeing in the water. Hangovers are not merely a scary bedtime morality tale we tell ourselves in high school and college. Baba Yaga is real and she's coming for all of us. Going to bed early is not overrated. I repeat: waking up well-rested is very, very cool. The expectations vs. reality scale is incredibly disproportionate. Think 500 Days of Summer but worse. Finding time to relax/do things you enjoy is an intensely scheduled activity in which you are allowed approximately a fourth of the length of time you really need. Netflix is the best significant other you could ever pay for. Same with Amazon Prime. You realize that kids in high school are vapid imbeciles (and yes, you were that stupid when you were their age, but a decade - holy shit, a decade - of hindsight allows you to reflect on your MANY mistakes). Every birthday that passes grows less exciting and more humbling as you near 30. (God, think of how carefree you were at 21). Your wardrobe makes increasingly less sense as you attempt to grow up and join the world of working professionals (and a gym). Dieting ceases to be that thing you laugh at while shoving the 10th slice of pizza into your mouth and becomes that thing you should've been doing before you gained those 30 pounds in college. Curse you, Taco Tuesday! Swearing is no longer considered 'cool,' but fuck people and their narrow-minded opinions, my goddamn vocabulary is fucking awesome, thank you very much. Reading glasses are no longer a fashion statement from Urban Outfitters - if you want to read the onscreen TV guide from more than 2 feet away you're gonna need 'em. Luckily, your childhood hero Harry Potter has been making glasses cool since before you were in 1st grade. Friends are better the fewer you have. It's like having children - the less of them there are, the lower the number of humans you have to keep track of (and the longer you can avoid insanity). Romantic relationships are like the perfect bra - life-changing and nearly impossible to find. Books you read when you were in high school suddenly make so much sense. Cheers, Holden Caulfield. Cleaning becomes a therapeutic (and completely necessary) activity rather than a task thrust upon a sullen and disgruntled teenager. You finally understand why your parents are always yelling at each other about paying bills. Taking 'the high road' is something you're supposed to be able to do even if you never learned how. People expect you to have opinions about things such as world politics and religion (and not The Bachelor or Keeping Up with the Kardashians).
