2000 Château Pontet-Canet has a distinctly grilled toast, vanilla and espresso note on the nose. That exact nose carries through to the palate. Thankfully, the palate delivers some really pretty black currant and black cherry with amazing freshness. Overall, this is still a nice wine, but despite the ample fruit and acidity, the oak was too heavy and has not resolved. And I don't think it ever will.
