I'd been planning on picking this lens up for a while now, but was putting it off until next year sometime as it is a little bit of an expensive lens, and I didn't need it right away. However a local shop that happens to sell used gear had one on their rack and I was able to pick it up for $400 off the MSRP. That's enough to make another trip up into the Sierra for hiking and photography.
I'm not gonna lie, a two-for-the-price-of-one kinda deal like that (a lens and a future trip to use it) really does it for me.
