So far, I've sent 9K texts to voters today and approved probably over 10K phone numbers for call banks.

Day 2448 - I spent a couple of hours helping with text banking after work to connect voters with information about their local polling places. It’s intimidating for an introvert like me and a handful of people aren’t very nice. But I think that our democracy is broken as long as anyone experience barriers to voting, so I kept at it and also provided the same level of considerate response to the people who made it clear that they were Trump supporters.
Day 2441 - I got signed up and trained to do text-banking for an organization called Reclaim Our Vote. I am excited about this campaign because the outreach is all about providing people with details about how they can vote based on where they live, for example the location of the nearest polling location or the hours for early voting. They focus on states with a history and present of voter suppression.

Today I sent 23,000 texts to voters in Arizona and Virginia informing them about the PRO Act. Please enjoy this compilation of lovely responses:
“I contributed to the Fecal Fart Act of 87, is this the same thing?”
"Trump 2021 also Bean is a fake name"
"AUTOREPLY: We have detected the transmission of unsolicited p*rnographic images of a potentially illegal nature [code:36489-a] and your device’s IP address has been forwarded to the police department pending an investigation. If you think this is a mistake, reply STOP. "
"This is HARASSMENT"
"Why are you all still bothering me. I have to keep telling you all I don't want to be messaged. Don't call me. Don't text me. Don't email me. None of those buffoons are MY senators. They're all worthless pond scum."
“Who the f*ck is Kevin, Bean? Stop messaging this god d*mn number. Geezus. It's every d*mn day with you people”

Me: Have you made sure your friends and family have also voted or have a plan to vote today, too?
Voter: Sure did, like a boss

Hi Carolina, it’s Marissa, a volunteer with the Texas Democrats. We are just 4 days away from Election Day! We need your help to get out the vote—can you make calls with us this weekend?
Hello Marissa! I’m sorry to inform you that, despite still being democrat, I will be voting Trump for president. After watching the debates and campaign videos, I can no longer support Biden. I hope you too can see that Biden is not fit to be president.
I’m really sorry to hear that. My support for Biden and Texas Democrats is born out of confidence that the Biden team will build an economy where everyone gets a fair return for their work and an equal chance to get ahead - that’s what’s important to me. Thank you for your time and have a great day!
Another big reason is that my son in law works in oil (as many Texans do), and Biden’s plan is going to begin the process of dismantling the oil industry, which would put him and many others out of jobs. I could not do that to my daughter and my grandchildren.
I understand where you’re coming from. But climate change is happening, whether we acknowledge it or not. Wildfires, floods, hurricanes - they don’t pick and choose red states or blue states. Americans are dying from the impacts of climate change. The transition away from fossil fuels is critical to protecting our health and livelihoods, now and in the future. I’d rather put the transition in the hands of Joe Biden, who I genuinely believe will do his best to work to find a solution that protects the interests of all Americans. I want a president who cares, who respects science and will take action immediately. To me, that’s Joe Biden. What do you think?
I don’t disagree with climate change. I know we have a great impact on this planet, although don’t you think some of the business moves that Trump has made with incentivizing companies to bring back their manufacturing to America, will help with carbon emissions, simply by having less fuel used for importing? I think it’s is an extremely complicated machine and we need to take precautions in how we “fix it”. I have thought long and hard about this and have my reasons. Honestly though, I feel free. Free to be an American without feeling shame about it. I think that’s important as well. We need to come together despite our differences, and back the country that allows us to civilly disagree. I’m also tired of seeing all of the violence on TV. There is no need for that. I still love my Dem family and will vote Dem in most other cases. Thank you Marissa for standing for what you believe. You are why America is truly great.
I agree that promoting American manufacturing is a help to the situation, but I don’t think it offsets all of the environmental regulations his administration is rolling back (Biden, btw, has a plan for creating manufacturing jobs here at home). And I would like to say that I would consider a vote for Trump to be a vote *against* civil disagreement. But what I’d really like to say is thank you. Thank you for being a thoughtful voter, thank you for being civil, and kind, and thank you for giving me a little more faith in my fellow Americans right now. This is what our democracy needs, and I’m happy that you are a part of it.
😊That made me tear up. You are very welcome. I commit to standing with my fellow Americans, despite differences. Human to human, I love you and hope the best for you. To life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
My sentiments exactly, Carolina. Take care, and thanks for taking the time to talk with me today 😊
Day 2451 - Most of my time/emotional energy bandwidth this weekend has been spent text-banking with Reclaim Our Vote, sharing information to make sure that residents in key states have all of the information they need to vote.
