I was rereading old tags and I think I found the key difference between transformers masterforce and bpjd. masterforce is ironically funny. the show takes itself so seriously yet it's so ridiculous all the time that you have to laugh. while bpjd is actually unironically funny. it's wholesome and I actually find myself laughing at the actual jokes every single episode

Me watching Masterforce thinking, the kids are nice but not exciting enough, when does Overlord appear? And he seems to appear at episode 24...arggh, I still have 17 episodes to go :’( Though I do hope the show is gonna be like the usual shonen anime experience, in which the kids are really annoying and stupid at first but slowly grow into actually mature and likable characters. Like Dan from Bakugan for example ~ Not to say the kids are bad, I do like Minerva a lot and Cab is interesting, but Shuta is a little bit annoying with his typical shonen boy eagerness. I DO however like that the villain humans seem to get some depth! Didn’t watch much, but the last episode I saw was about the villain Wilder and it did give him a reason for joining the decepticons that isn’t him just being a bad person. So I am intrigued and hope they keep this up, with giving them 3 some sort of backstory to explain why they went bad :D  It’s a lot more interesting than most human tf characters at least
