FLAPPY COAT AND LONG SLEEVES WEATHER IS FINALLY HERE 🍂
yoo this isn’t technically a question in the ask game, but i was curious if you had any thoughts on S2 of The Witcher? your fic is one of my fave parts of the brief time i’ve spent in this fandom and it’s always really interesting reading your insight on the characters and plot and such! also (without spoiling anything ofc!) will TGIA cover any of the events of S2? (wasn’t sure whether to send this to your Witcher sideblog sorry, feel free to ignore if this is the wrong place for this question lol) (also while i’m here you’re one of my fave fic writers for both The Witcher and TUA and you’re very cool ANYWAYS-)
full disclosure: nope, tgia will not cover events from s2 of the witcher! mainly because the story as-is is planned to "end" with the finding of Ciri and the reunion of Geralt and Jaskier, which has been planned since before s2 came out
a sequel to tgia might cover events though, but tbh we have veered pretty hard out of canon so the ripple effects would mess things up
and more full disclosure: i'm actually not watching s2 until i've finished my fic! mainly bc i have a Vision and i don't want to watch s2 in case it influences what i want to put in the final chapters!
i've only had a couple of spoilers from my sister and been made to listen to "burn butcher burn" so far sO
(i was thinking of meeting with the other witchers in the sequel and i know that s2 has?? other witchers? so maybe they'll be characters in sequel tgia?)
as a spoiler, i think it's VERY funny that apparently jaskier and yennefer get to hang out in s2 because they're actually going to hang out in tgia as well lmao, which has been planned since before s2 came out
i'm just. sitting here with 44 pages on a google doc of content for the next tgia chapter and i haven't even written the ciri parts and half the geralt parts so,,,, long chapter coming up
there's probably only two or three chapters left in tgia though
i AM spitballing names for a potential sequel though. to bloom in triumph is currently the top contender but i'm open to ideas ;3c
though idk if i want a sequel or if i want like. a deleted scenes/mini series in the same 'verse instead so
I just read to grow in adveristy and it's so good!!! All the dialogues feel so natural and I love your writing style and the fic really brightened my day! I hope you have a good day too :)
asdfFSDGH thank you!! just for that you get a snippet ;3c
I promise I am still working on tgia y’all, the canon bits are just fighting me a little bit lmao and I might need to put off the Geralt-Renfri confrontation for another chapter because this shit is at like, 23 pages in my google docs and I haven’t even written like half the scenes I need to oof
Under the cut and spoiler warning for my fic, to grow in adversity!
first of all, im fucking dying over to grow in adversity, so lets get that *straight. (*gay.) i was reading through the comments so i know you have something in mind for the renfri reveal (renveal?) already, but i keep imaging that geralt+jaskier go somewhere and see stregobor and, to the shock of everyone including himself, jaskier just decks him on sight. like, he either breaks his nose with his fist or his indestructible lute with no preamble like “i bet you thought you’d seen the last of me”
I cannot reveal my secrets BUT
The theme for Jaskier seeing Stregobor is Mercedes Lackey’s Battle Dawn ;3c

Chapter summary:
Geralt finally dances, Yennefer has an adventure, and Jaskier weaves a story of stars.
Eeeeeeeeeee! I love tgia SO MUCH❤️ Any chance of more Renfri and Renfri&Yennefer? 🥺 The parallels on chapter 11 were f***ing amazing. (Thank you for writing the alive!Renfri we all deserved)
Renfri and Yennefer definitely get more scenes together! However, I do fear I’m setting up some of my readers for failure oops. Renfri/Yennefer as a couple isn’t going to happen within the scope of tgia for a few reasons
PUTTING THIS UNDER THE CUT, plus a little tgia snippet from the next chapter, because i have never been accused of being concise in my life
If Renfri is a black hole to magic does that mean she can just stomp though wards and they break? I'm just imagining someone dick of a lord who knows someone is after him hiring mages to put every protection around him keep and Renfri doesn't even notice she breaks all these wards when she breaks in to kill him.
good question!! the answer is: sort of?
Renfri can pass through wards like they aren’t there. But she doesn’t break them, not unless she’s in extended contact with them. Her... ‘magic’ is very hostile and essentially ‘shreds’ other magics, which makes them ineffective against her. That isn’t to say she’s immune to all magics, however.
If someone uses magic to make a portal, then the portal is there. Renfri can step through it. Granted, she should probably go through last, since there’s a possibility that for weaker mages she’ll collapse the portal after her as her black hole-ness interacts with the magic, but she still Goes Through.
If someone tried to banish her specifically, as in cast magic on her, it wouldn’t work.
Someone can summon up stone walls, and Renfri will be just as trapped as anyone else, because the magic was used on the earth. Not on her.
If the walls are very thin but magic’d to be indestructible or something, then Renfri can shred that magic if and only if she’s in close contact with it for a while. Which means you can trap her temporarily, but eventually she’ll reach a point where she just reaches out and kicks through both your ward AND the wall
If it’s like. A ward that say, traps someone in a room? Or makes someone confused and turn around and leave? or straight up makes someone pass out when they enter a Forbidden Room or something? Yeah Renfri just sort of. Walks through those. Most ‘invisible’ effect wards just straight up don’t effect her in the way they’re supposed to.
But they don’t fully break unless she’s in contact with them. It’s sort of like uhhhhh Renfri has the sun under her skin, and it’s snowing. When she gets any snowflake at all on her, it melts pretty much instantly. However, the people she’s traveling with are still getting snowflakes on their eyelashes and it’s fucking up their vision.
But if they’re in a room full of snow for a long enough time, Renfri melts any bits that come in contact with her. And given a long enough time, melts the whole room. If she just moved on though, the snow would still be there, if that makes sense?
Jaskier has to frequently re-enchant Renfri’s sword, because even though he’s not using magic on her just being in proximity for long periods of time shreds the magic. But at least it lasts for Some Time because if he tried to enchant Renfri herself, it just straight up wouldn’t take
so if someone put every defense around them... it would depend on the defenses!! Renfri eats magic, but she doesn’t have magic. She can be killed if she’s tossed off a cliff or stabbed with a sword or if she gets caught in a rockslide.
Granted, that cliff doesn’t have to have been there a second ago, the sword can have been summoned out of thin air, and magic could have been used to cause the rockslide. She’s not infallible! But many magic users will try and blast her up front, see that doesn’t work, and panic. And while they panic, Renfri gets close enough to kill them.
Does all that make sense?
