Tony would be so devastated after Peter's death. Not only did he lost the person that he wanted to set an example for the most, to make him be proud of the role model he chose (and really, Tony asks himself, why would someone choose HIM for a role model?) He also lost a person who motivated him to be a better human being. And we all know he blames himself so fucking much for it. If Tony wouldn't have got close to Peter, hell, if he never would have gotten involved in the kid's life, none of this would've happened. Except it would.

Peter would've died regardless, dying with other millions of people. It still doesn't make it easier. He should help the others find a solution. He drowns in alchohol instead. He reunites with the avengers...or, the ones left. Just the people they have left. They're trying to find a solution. He doesn't give a damn anymore. Peter Parker died. Why would he?

I want to see him crushed and vulnrable. So crushed that all he can do is lay on the ground with a bottle of whiskey next to him and cry. Just because I want fans to see just how much Tony cared about Spidey and how big of an impact Peter had in his life.

Steve tries to comfort him, but Tony can see how emotionally drained he is. Bucky's death got to him. Bad. He pushes Steve away. The guy has enough on his plate. And even if they're not on speaking terms, he doesn't want to put a burden on the guy more than he already has. He ignores the sad puppy look Steve sents his way. The " I'm hurt and I want to be held. I don't want to be alone." Look. He feels sorry, but he can't take care of others. Not right now.

Rhodey watches him with a look Tony knows too well. It's the "I wish I could comfort you. But I know you want to be alone, so I'll try to give you space. Doesn't mean I like it." look.

T'Challa's sister is in here, too. Bright, and brilliant and a sad mess. But not sad like him. Her sadness is controlled. She comes up to him and snatches the whiskey bottle right from under his mouth and takes a mouth full. She chokes on it, too. Tony wasn't supposed to care. But he does.

"Gimme that, kid." He'd say when he finally can stand. The raccoon helps him up, thought. A talking raccoon. Well. He'd seen weirder things. And reaches for the bottle. The girl moves away from him, watching him with something he doesn't want to see. Not right now.

Compassion.

"Shuri. Give it." He knows her name. He tries again, but all she does is walk away to a table where robotic materials are splattered around. She takes another sip. Tony can see she's not used to this. Not by the expressions she's making, like she wants to spit it out and never be near it again. "Just stop. You can't even keep a straight face, just give me back the bottle."

"I'll stop if you stop." Silence.

For the first time in his life, Tony doesn't know what to say. He stares at her. She stares at him. They have a contest, these two. Wide brown eyes, trying to see what the other person is thinking.

Why does she care?

Why doesn't he care?

" I understand what it means to lose someone you love," she starts, with a crack in her tone, finally putting the bottle down and approching him with shaky steps. She can barely contain herself. But she's doing a better job than him. " I've lost my brother before all of this. But he came back to me. Your son can come back to you, too. But we have to find a solution first. And this? You and me, drinking away our pain? Won't help anyone."

Son.

Son.

Son.

He can feel his heart drop and sweat pooling on his back. " He-- He, uh...," son? Peter wasn't his son. " He, Spidey-- Peter, he...he wasn't... He wasn't my..." Son.

Why can't he bring himself to say it? It's not like it's a lie. So then, why does he feel wet strings falling on his cheeks? Say it Tony's brain tells him say he wasn't your son. Would you lie?

"I...I lost my son." Why did you say that, you fuck up? He wasn't your son. If he was, the kid would be dead before he even had the chance of putting on his costume. He was just a kid who venerated you, put you on a pedestal. That's all he was.

Shuri's expression is as soft as a feather when she hugs him tightly. "And we'll get him back. We'll get everyone back. I promise you."

The raccoon pets him on the shoulder and stares at the floor.

"I lost a son, too." He says. " I know how it feels, dude."

Tony cries. He cries a lot. He's pretty sure no one saw him cry this hard. Not even Rhodey. But it doesn't last for long. He's Tony Stark. He can't afford to let feelings get in the way of progress and solution.

He walks over to the table and picks up the whiskey bottle. Then smashes it on the floor, and says:

"Let's get our family back."

It's about how the reader/oc was a hacker on earth and Peter rescues her and they end up becoming partners? There's a chapter where she gets stabbed while they're trying to do a heist and he comes to save her. Happens before TGOTG, and is a slowww burn.
