the event was heard in royal of course. luxe was performing, and as both an avid fan of the girl group, and a friend to the girls in the group, seonho knew they would be performing with other sunbae artist at a bubble festival.
and so of course seonho found his way there.
the crowd was big, but not over whelming. or at least, seonho wasn’t paying attention to the people around him as he bounced lightly on his heels. waiting for them to announce the next performance. to see his noonas walk onto stage. the bright shining faces he doesn’t get to see often anymore since their debut. but he’s so proud and happy for them. they deserve this, all of his noonas are so super talented.
his own bubble wand was being waved carefully in front of him. zoning out a bit as he thought about what song they would perform. if they would do more than one. he figured they would do their title track is nothing else. “ahh... maybe luxe noonas can sign the bubbles when i get back to the company..”
getting trapped on earth had not been apart of the plan.
having his space ship crash land into earth had not been apart of the plan.
and having to blend into human societies that he knows nothing about while knowing there might be no way to go home had most definitely not been apart of the plan.
but as it stands, all of those things had happened despite not being apart of his plan, and hyunjoon had learned to deal with it. he blended into the humans, learned their ways best he could and as fast as he could. it was reaching near an earth year that he has been here, and every day he wishes he wasn’t. it’s why he had started these human telepathic head things. though he wasn’t too sure the technique behind the tin of foil upon some one’s head, he was hoping it would work.
it hadn’t, in his time here. but he held hope. and hope guided him a little as he managed to befriend the odd human next door to his current stay away. changmin was his name, he was nice and hyunjoon felt comfort being around him most days. the two of them spend a lot of time together when they can and it helped to ease the ache in hyunjoons chest from being trapped on earth. speaking of, he was just about to go visit changmin today. having not seeing the other for a few days, and hyunjoon felt it only the right time to visit him.
“changmin, i brought the-- is that an intergalactic com?” he blurted out after barging into the others place, eyes wide as he spotted the tech in the others hands. recognizing it almost instantly.
he’d been excited about this since he texted his cousin a few days ago. with them both being busy from training ( and school ), it’s rare that they have the time to get together and hang out like this, and dongmin was really looking forward to the chance to just relax with seokmin. he’s really missed this time with the older male, and was glad that the other agreed to a movie night.
he waited patiently for the older male to get the door, decked out in his lion onesie with the hood up and carrying his lion plushy, minnie, with him. knowing he’s going to need her tonight for when they end up watching scary movies. even though he isn’t going out trick or treating, or doing anything super halloween like, dongmin still felt like he could dress up a little. not all crazy like some people are, thats for sure. he tried to go for a more comfortable style. and he hasn’t gotten to wear this onesie a lot.
“hyung! i came as fast as i could! though i had to stop at home to change first.”
seonho hadn’t meant to lose baekhyun in the crowd. but the people had swarmed around him so quick and his hold on the olders arm hadn’t been that strong. and thus he had been knocked away and dragged along like a fish that had tried to swim up stream. a pout forming on the teens face when he finally got free of all the people only to not see his hyung anywhere in the crowd. it’s not all bad, he knows baekhyun is in the area and all he has to do is text him.
but the teens attention is caught by a food stand near by. the dryness of his mouth making itself known as he spots a sign reading juice and thats all it takes to get him moving across the area towards the stand. luckily he has a few won still on him.
as he’s waiting in line, he spots a familiar figure seated off to the side. it’s too loud for seonho’s soft voice to carry across the way--though he feels that hyojong maybe could hear him anyway if he had tried, but seonho’s voice is too sore from laughing right now--so he stays quiet. he waits out the line and instead of getting one juice like planned, he purchases a second one. a grin bright as the sun on his face, seonho all but skips over to his hyung.
“hyojong hyung!!! here, here.” he greets, for once not launching himself into the others arms as he holds out the juice. not wanting to spill on either of them.
the weather had taken a turn, though dongmin didn't know if this turn was for better or worse. really, the rain would have been nice if he wasn’t stuck in it for an extended period of time. The heat in the day has already apparently been too much for the youngest royal trainee, having had to take a break to cool down. he had been lucky he only fainted, and that he hadn't hit his head in the fall or anything. Otherwise he might have been in worse shape.
As it stands, he's still working through a bit of light headedness, but nothing he can't handle on his own. He was determined to get through the day without any other issues. Of course, he wasn't dealing with it on his own, as the moment he got back to the other royal boys, two hyungs latched onto him as if he was going to fade away or something. It had made the teen sigh in a fond sort of way, accepting the affection and that he wouldn't be getting away from either of them for a while.
"I'm fine now, hyung. I promise, I went and got an IV too just in case." He spoke, his tone a complete whine but the smile threatening to break across his cheeks showed that he wasn't bothered by it at all. More than content to hate his umbrella with them both, even if it meant they were practically glued to the hip with how tight of a fit it is. he supposes he can’t blame them, he would be just as worried if one of them had fainted.
It’s not that he wouldn’t want to be a part of Triple Crown, despite aiming for Nova entertainment, his parents would be content with him in any of the companies. Triple Crown is one of the top of the top too, and he’d finally on a fast track of reaching his ( his parents ) dreams. It’s literally what he’s been spending his whole life working for, with all the lessons his parents have put him in since he could walk. He should be siked. He should run into that audition with his the energy he has when spotting a dog a block away.
But he didn’t want to be here.
Dongmin didn’t feel he was ready for any of this. not that he ever will feel he is ready because he’s much to harsh on himself. The very idea of going to an audition right now made his stomach flip. His nerves were on fire just thinking about it, causing to be even more gittery than he normally is. Sure, he’s practiced days in and days out, going over the song and dance as many times as he can since the announcement, but he still felt sick.
His mother has been in a tizzy since the announcement, having been the one to barge into his room to show him the information. Since then, she’s been even harsher on him for going to practice, going so far as picking out the song he would perform and making sure he was all ready to go. She’s been a bit crazy about this, not that it surprised him. the day of the audition was an exhausting one. He was woken up early, his mom wanting him to get ready and to warm up before going there. She had taken the day off so she could go with him, as well as monitor everything he does, eats, or drinks today. Making sure his face didn’t look puffy, and that he was all cleaned up. She had him run through his performance once before they left the house. Nitpicking everything she could find, wanting him to be perfect.
Before they even got to the audition, he felt like he’d already been through at least four. It’s been a while since his mother has been so on top of him for this. not since the talent show in his middle school. It was both refreshing ( since its been a while since they’ve spent a day together ) and exhausting ( both mentally and physically ). For those who haven’t been around her for long periods of time, she is a very critical person. She can pull you apart and find every little thing you might be insecure about, or that you didn’t even realize was wrong with you.
It could be why Dongmin is such a perfectionist.
When his name got called, he felt like he just swallowed his own tongue. His nerves had him so locked into place that it took his mom pushing him forward for him to finally head to the showcase. His mind blanking on what he was supposed to do. This is nothing like auditioning for a school talent show. this was so much bigger. He’s not supposed to be here, he’s not ready for this.
“H..” he paused, taking a breath to try and center himself and calm his nerves. “Hello, I’m Lee Dongmin, 16 years old, and I’m ready to be TRC’s Triple Threat.”
His performance starts with singing. He’s doing a cover of a group he really loves, and a song he probably hums to at least once a day. This will be his first time actually attempting to do the rap parts of the song though. Normally he’ll jokingly try and rap along, but he’s never been the best at it. Which is why he still says he shouldn’t be here.
니 심장을 향해 아무도 몰래
단 한 번의 기횔 눈 앞에
내 시야 가운데 더욱 날카롭게
단 한 번도 실수는 안 돼
He had decided to start near the middle of the song, beginning with the second chorus instead of at the beginning. As he sings, he moves through the dance he learned via private dance instruction. His mom had found a choreographer to help him put together a routine for this performance. He had just managed to get all the steps down two days ago, so really he’s more nervous about the dance than he is the rapping part. At least he can slow the rap down slightly if he needs too.
시간 멈춘 듯 숨이 멈춘 듯 이 밤
길게 떨려오는
깊은 어둠도 날 선 침묵도 이젠
너를 향한 눈을 떠
The second half of the chorus is set on a higher key, and he’s so glad his voice didn’t break as he hits those higher notes. It’s probably a little obvious at this point that he isn’t the most use to dancing and singing at the same time. He tried to keep from sounding winded, but the more he danced the more obvious it became.
저 빛보다 빨리
Yup We Get It Poppin
저 빛보다 빨리 너와 나의 사이
절대 피하지 못하지
이미 시작된 운명의 Bullet
단 한 발의 총성이 들려와
He stumbled slightly at the beginning of the rap, missing one of his steps to the dance due to the fact he was over thinking the lines. Trying to make it look like it was supposed to happen, he slowed down the dance to a pause. Deciding to not dance through the rap and focused on keeping his voice even. Conveying the right emotions that he wants to put out.
After the rap was a brief instrumental break, where he shifted to a mix of a modern and contemporary dance style. This was where he really had to show his dancing skills ( or lack of ). He so badly wanted to do good, to impress not only the judges but also his mother. Knowing she was watching this, picking apart every thing, and seeing ever little mistake he has done so far.
조금씩 가까워져 아련히
손에 닿을 듯이 가까이
너를 놓친다면 끝이 없는
어둠이 다시 찾아와
너와 나 사이 (너와 나 사이)
단 한 발의 총성 들려와 (Oh woah)
The next chorus came, and he focused on singing, throwing in some adlib to try and sound like he knows what he’s doing. He felt a bit more confident when it comes to the singing, knowing this is something he is slightly good at and probably sounds good at it. He felt pushed all his effort into this part, really trying to show off the best he can. Making sure all the dance moves are spot on, sharp, and following the right beat.
The last part was another rap, but he forgot the middle lines to it. Instead of freezing up, he just skipped right over those to the last few lines. Singing the last line of the song with as much feeling as he could, while mentally berating himself over his stupid mistake.
While he doesn’t think he is anywhere near good enough to be in TRC, never the less be the triple threat, he tried his best. Hopefully his mom would see that too.
#WayToManyFeels || the ‘i pretend to be edgy with my songs, but really i like slow ballads about love or being the best you can be’ playlist by Cha Eunwoo.
jaymes young - i’ll be good. I'll be good, I'll be good and I'll love the world, like I should. yeah, I'll be good, I'll be good for all of the time that I never could. this song is in here because Eunwoo has kind of a bleak outlook for himself, and his own talent. he doesn’t think he’s a good son, or a good singer. so this song relates to him with the “i’ll be good” stating, he’s going to try and be better everyday.
shinhwa - perfect man. I’ll only know of you even if my breath ends ‘cause you are the one. Eunwoo is very much a shinhwa stan. along with the fact he loves catchy songs about love. the song also talks about even when everything changes, he won’t leave, and it’s kind of how Eunwoo feels about his parents. even when he’s working to debut, he wont forget them.
rain - to you. Since when have I changed i've been exhausted with my busy schedule I only thought of myself, I only thought of what I had to do. again, another song directed more to his parents. he’s very much trying to be a fillia son, and someone his parents can be proud of.
kiiara - feels. And I got way too many feels, way too much emotion. This song is here because he tends to not show what he’s really feeling. preferring to fake a smile than show how tired he actually is. he literally says fuck it when it comes to his other emotions sometimes, deciding to ignore them until they backfire or something.
amber liu - borders. cause mom said I’d be crossing borders. never be afraid even when you’re cornered. stand up straight, fight your way. have you caught the trend of parents? this song also because its all about being yourself, and its what Dongmin wants to do but he has issues with. because he thinks he has to be this golden child.
he was convinced ( dragged ) here by some friends. a combination of his own savings and his left over birthday money from his parents being used to fund his way. honestly, hyunjoon probably would have find his way here without his friends pestering him because of what company it was at. nova being home to one of his favorite trainees and the chances of maybe getting to see him again would be to great to pass up. it’s been, what feels likes, ages since the fansign he went to.
though, he had doubted he would actually be able to see ricky, or even find time to say hello, hyunjoon would have been content just being there. so when he spotted the older male off to the side during a brief break in the lesson, the teen was all too quick to approach. his confidence withered away as he got closer, but he didn’t give up. the normally so stoic and empty expression shifting to a nervous one, hands held together in front of him. his body bending in a polite bow once he got close.
“ricky hyung, hello! ah... i’m sorry to bother you.” he tugged the end of his shirt a little, unable to make eye contact due his shyness taking over. now that he was here, right in front of ricky, hyunjoon felt like turning and running away. this was so much different from sitting across a table from him during an official event like a fansign.
