Barry moves to a new school and on his first day he’s already got bullies on his tail. But little did they know that he would develop a protective complex over Eddie, the other nerd who, unlike Barry, had been victim of their bullying for years. From that day forward, no one touched Eddie again.
They bonded over their love of Marvel comics and superheroes, especially Spider-Man because they found a lot of themselves in him. And typical of Marvel fanboys, they enjoyed making fun of DC and how Superman was such a plastic hero.
But in secret, Eddie loved Superman. It might have been because the day he met Barry, Barry was wearing a blue shirt and a red backpack that freakishly resembled a cape. And in a sense, the day they met, Barry had been Eddie’s Superman.
You’re worth taking a bullet for - Thallen Fanfiction
“Hey dweeb!” A voice yelled from across the hall and Barry froze in his tracks, tightening the grip he had on his red backpack. The halls of S.T.A.R. high were empty at this point in time, considering the fact that most of the students had already begun their classes. Barry was late – again – and it appeared, so was someone else.
He began walking again, his sneakers squeaking on the tile floors and he prayed to god that Tony didn’t pursue him. Maybe this time he would get lucky, and Tony – who was the school bully and Barry’s personal tormentor – wouldn’t pursue him.
Unfortunately, he was out of luck as the sound of not one set of, but multiple, footsteps followed after him.
Barry slowed his pace, allowing them to catch up to him. There was no use in running. The group of bullies that was slowly gaining on him were all incredibly athletic, and while Barry was an incredibly fast runner, he doubted he could outrun all of them.
He spun on his heel, putting his hands up and getting ready to try and reason with his peers. But the moment he spun around, a fist smashed into his face, sending Barry flying.
Smashing against the lockers, Barry groaned, sliding to the ground and closed his eyes for a second, before opening them and meeting the cold, steel eyes of Tony.
Tony was huge, and while he was only a bit taller than Barry himself, the amount of muscle on his person made him seem like a giant. His eyes were dark green; his hair shaved into a sort of buzz cut and the only word that Barry could possibly use to describe him as was “Brute”.
He’d faced down Tony since freshman year, and by ‘faced down’, he meant ‘was beaten up’, the brute making it his own personal mission to make Barry’s life a living hell. Occasionally Tony would bully other students, like Barry’s friend Cisco, but it seemed like Barry was Tony’s favourite.
‘The Douchebag Squad” – as Iris had nicknamed them – were standing behind Tony, each of them glaring down at Barry. They followed Tony everywhere he went, as if they were lost puppies. Which meant that they were always there, ever since Tony had started to focus his attention on Barry.
The first was Kyle Nimbus, an eighteen year old who was kept down for fighting. Kyle was missing all the hair on his body due to a genetic mutation. He seemed to think of himself as a mobster, and often stood beside Tony wherever they were. The next was Mark Mardon, a seventeen year old whose younger brother had died last year, having been shot by Joe after running at the cops with a gun and threatening to kill everybody in the vicinity due to a mental breakdown. Mark had seemed to focus all of his rage about Joe killing his brother on Barry, becoming steadily more and more violent.
Then there was Leonard Snart and his sidekick Mick Rory. Leonard was always seen wearing a thick coat, as if it were snowing outside, where Mick was nearly always seen with a lighter or some matches in his hands. They weren’t like the others, they didn’t hang off Tony’s every word. Barry was almost certain that neither of them even liked Tony.
He’d faced them down thousands of times before.
Tony’s upper lip curled back into a sneer, “You think you can run from me faggot?”
And even though Barry had faced Tony and The Douchebag Squad down thousands of time in these halls, it didn’t stop the fear that was churning in his gut. But Barry didn’t let that fear show, he had learnt that after the first twenty confrontations with Tony. Showing that he was scared just gave Tony the more leverage to make Barry feel like shit.
“I was just rushing to science, I’m late and you know what Doctor Wells is like. I really don’t want detention,” Barry stood up on shaky legs, using the locker to support him. His face hurt, but luckily for him it wasn’t the nose or one of his eyes that had been hit, those would be a lot harder to explain than a slight bruise on his cheek.
He began to walk forward, hoping that maybe Tony would let him past. Only a small percentage of the school loved Doctor Wells, the other ninety-five percent feared him. He always had this look in his eyes apparently, like he was plotting your murder. Iris hated him, saying that everything about him screamed ‘Murderous’ or even ‘Fake’. But Barry was part of the percentage that loved him, so he didn’t see what Iris was talking about.
Tony, like most of the school, feared Doctor Wells, even though he would never admit it. Barry had seen the fear in his eyes after the Doctor had confronted him about graffiti in the bathrooms and as Wells was yelling, Barry was fairly certain that the school bully was going to wet his pants.
Unfortunately, Tony apparently wasn’t going to let his fear of a teacher stop him and Barry found himself on the ground a moment later, wheezing. Tony rubbed his knuckled from where his fist had connected with Barry’s gut, his eyes sparkling like it was Christmas.
“You really think you can walk away from me?” Tony snarled, like an enraged dog, “Me?! I am the king of this school and you are just a peasant.”
Tony was also delusional.
Barry didn’t answer, curling in on himself in preparation of what he knew was going to come and Tony kicked him, causing Barry to grunt. Tony kicked him again, this time hard enough to make Barry actually cry out.
Another kick, “Aw are you going to cry? Little Barry Allen is gonna cry!”
The Douchebag squad joined in and suddenly the entire group was kicking the shit out of Barry, and he could do nothing about it. What was he going to do? Fight back? He had tried that before, he had tried it more than once and it just ended in an even worse beating.
“Answer me freak!”
“Hey!” A voice called, one that Barry thought sounded familiar but couldn’t quite place, “What the hell are you doing?!”
Suddenly the kicking stopped but Barry didn’t move, still curled up in a ball with his eyes squeezed shut, he didn’t even remember shutting them, an his entire body pulsing with pain.
“Leave us alone Thawne,” Tony shouted and Barry heard the sounds of footsteps approaching, “This isn’t any of your business.”
Thawne. Eddie Thawne. Aka the hottest boy in the entire school, the captain of the football team and according to his best friend Iris “A literal ray of sunshine”. He didn’t know about the sunshine part, but the rest was true. If Barry had actually been out as Bisexual to anybody, he would have already spent hours talking about how gorgeous Eddie Thawne was. Everything about him was perfect, everything.
But they’ve never spoken, so Eddie had no reason to help him. They weren’t friends, they weren’t even acquaintances. They were just people who went to the same school but had completely different lives. Barry was certain that Eddie didn’t even know what he looked like.
“You can’t just do that to somebody!” Eddie yelled and Barry uncurled himself from his ball, opening his eyes and looking around and yes, that was definitely Eddie Thawne walking towards them, looking incredibly furious, “Who the hell do you think you are?!”
“I’m the king of this school,” Tony growled, “Now leave before I put you in the hospital pretty boy.”
“No.” Eddie’s eyes were practically glowing with fury, his hands balled into fists and his entire body was tensed, “You’ll have to fight me to get me to leave.”
Tony shrugged, “So be it,” he motioned for his minions, “Get him.”
“That wasn’t very smart was it?” Barry grunted as they walked towards the nurses office, leaning on each other, “Why didn’t you just walk away?”
Eddie had gotten the absolute crap beaten out of him, but not as much as Barry. While Barry didn’t fight back, Eddie fought like someone who had nothing to lose, throwing punches and kicks as if his life depended on it. Of course, he was outnumbered, so it didn’t take very long before he too was subjected to a brutal beating. But at least he put up a fight, unlike Barry.
Eddie looked like a mess, the split lip and gigantic swollen eye on his face alone making it look like he’d just gone a few rounds with Mike Tyson. Usually they avoided the face when it came down to the really brutal beatings, but it appeared that Eddie fighting back was enough to warrant what was going to be one nasty black eye.
Eddie raised an eyebrow, “I wouldn’t even leave my worst enemy to those thugs.”
“Is that what I am?” Barry joked, “Your worst enemy? Wow we’ve known each other for five minutes and you’ve already made me your enemy.”
Eddie laughed, throwing his head back in a way that was completely and utterly adorable, and Barry couldn’t help but smile. Of course, the smile turned into a frown when Eddie coughed, groaning in pain and putting a hand to his ribs.
“We should hurry,” Barry told him, “Just in case something’s broken.”
“You did take quite a beating,” Eddie agreed, “For a moment I was worried they were going to kill you.”
“I meant you,” Barry replied, “You’re the one who’s at more of a risk. You really shouldn’t have done that. You got hurt and it’s my fault.”
He felt awful now, if he had just gotten to school earlier then Eddie wouldn’t have been hurt and they wouldn’t be having this conversation right now. But at the same time, Barry couldn’t help but feel a little grateful for the fact that somebody had stepped in. It was selfish, but he couldn’t help it. And now he was talking to Eddie Thawne, the most beautiful specimen on the planet.
“You’re welcome by the way.” Eddie told him as they limped across the hallway, trying to get to the nurses office before the bell rang. They were nearly there; just a few more metres and they would be safe and sound.
Eddie stopped suddenly and Barry had to do so too as to avoid falling over, “I’m Eddie by the way, Eddie Thawne.”
“I know,” Barry stated before realising what he had just said, “I mean, of course I know. Everyone knows. You’re captain of the football team, everyone knows who Eddie Thawne is. Not that I really go to your games, it’s not really my thing but I still know who you are. You’re THE Eddie Thawne, the really attractive Eddie Thawne. I’m not hitting on you by the way! I’m just stating that you’re attractive. You are attractive by the way, very attractive. Wow you have good genes. And now I’m going to shut up.”
Eddie was staring at him in an odd way, one that Barry had never been looked at before. He didn’t know how to explain that stare, except it didn’t make him uncomfortable, it made him feel like everything was okay in the world and that if he stared back, everything would be brilliant. It made his heart flip in his chest as if it were an acrobat and Barry couldn’t help but stare back. They stood there for a moment, just staring at each other. Eddie’s eyes were a beautiful blue, like the sea after a storm and his hair practically glowed gold in the light. Everything about him was perfect.
Then Barry seemed to realise that he was staring and blinked, coughing and standing up straight, “I’m Barry by the way, Barry Allen.”
Eddie just smiled at him, a soft smile that made Barry’s knees weak. Or maybe that was the brutal beating he had received not five minutes ago, he didn’t know.
Oh how I LOVE thallen week! I love reading fics and there aren't enough thallen fics out there! I hope you all keep writing about them once this week is over!! Keep up the good work, ALL fics I read so far are awesome!!
Hello all! Here is my contribution for day 2 of Thallen week! I hope you all enjoy!
The moment Barry had waited his entire life for was finally here. He was an official college student now and he didn’t have to put up with those lazy assholes that didn’t care about their education and just went to school to torment those who actually enjoyed learning.
Now on moving in day, Barry just had to get through the next hour of lugging heavy boxes up to his dorm room with Joe. After that, he could set his room up the way he wanted and get psyched for classes to begin tomorrow.
“Can I have your name, please?” the cheery girl sitting behind the sign in table asked.
“Barry Allen,” Barry said, adjusting the bag he had slung over his shoulder.
“Alright, you are in room 302. Just take this door and go straight down the hall to the elevator. Once you go up to the third floor it’s the second door on your left. Enjoy your stay at Anderson Hall!” The girl explained as she handed Barry his key.
“Thank you,” he said, taking the key and made his way over to where Joe was waiting for him.
“After you,” Joe gestured. Barry began to show him the way to his room so they could bring up his things from the car.
“Iris planned it. She knew if she moved in to her college first then she’d have the both of us to help her and she wouldn’t have to help me,” Barry said as they exited the elevator once they arrived to the third floor.
“Yeah, that sounds like her,” Joe agreed with a chuckle.
Barry inserted his key into the lock and opened the door. The room was a decent size; just enough room for two people. Their bunk beds were against the right wall, right in the center. The two wooden desks were on the opposite wall with a small bookshelf on each of them. The chairs didn’t look particularly comfortable though. They were a puke green color and looked like plastic hard enough to break a window. Barry found himself thinking that he might be doing most of his homework on his bed. There were already posters up above the second bunk. They were those cheesy motivational posters but most of them had bad science puns on them. It didn’t look like a bad place to spend his next year.
His roommate was already there, sitting on the top bunk. Secretly, Barry was relieved. Barry wasn’t afraid of heights; he just preferred to be on the bottom so his clumsiness doesn’t cause an unexpected accident.
“Hey!” His roommate turned his head and smiled at Barry when he saw him standing in the doorway. He hopped off the bed and stuck the lollipop he was currently sucking on in his mouth so he could shake Barry’s hand. He had black hair that went about down to his chin, tucked behind his ears, and he had a t-shirt that had the periodic table of elements on it and it said “I wear this shirt periodically” above it.
“My name’s Cisco. Nice to meet you,” Cisco said.
“Barry. Nice to meet you too,” Barry said as he adjusted the bag he had to shake Cisco’s hand.
“Do you guys need help bringing the rest of your things up?” Cisco asked.
“Yeah, that’d be great,” Joe said. “I’m Joe, Barry’s dad for all intents and purposes.”
“Alright,” Cisco said, sensing there was a long story there. He figured he’d learn about it sooner or later since he and Barry would be sharing a room for the next year.
They headed back down to the car and between the three of them it took four more trips to get all of Barry’s things up to the room.
“Well, that’s all of it,” Barry said, putting his hands on his hips and surveying all of his things around the room.
“Alright, well I better get going,” Joe said, pulling Barry into a hug. “Remember, I’m only a three hour drive away if you need me.”
“I know. Thanks, Joe,” Barry said, hugging his father back.
Joe patted Barry’s shoulder and tried his hardest to keep his tears in.
“Take care, Bar,” Joe said. “Love you.”
“Love you too, Joe,” Barry said.
Joe turned to the door and opened it, offering Barry one last wave before heading out.
“Well, I guess I’ll unpack,” Barry said as Cisco reclaimed his earlier position on his bed.
“If you need any help, let me know,” Cisco offered. He opened his laptop and Barry knew he didn’t want to bother him.
About forty-five minutes later there was a knock on the door as Barry was setting up his books on the top shelf of his desk.
“I’ve got it,” Cisco said, hopping off the top of the bed. He opened the door but there was no one there. He frowned in confusion before noticing there was a paper taped to the front of their door. He pulled it off and closed the door again.
“What’s it say?” Barry asked.
“Floor meeting tonight in front of the elevators,” Cisco said. “Eight o’clock.”
“Okay. Do you wanna grab something to eat before? I’m done here and we have time to get dinner beforehand,” Barry offered.
“Sounds great. I’m always starving,” Cisco said, patting his stomach for emphasis.
“Dining hall is next to this building, right?” Barry asked, picking up the campus map that had been placed on his desk.
“Yeah, I made sure I knew where all the places to eat are around here. Why do you think I chose this dorm building?” Cisco asked with a smirk.
“Alright, let’s go,” Barry said with a smile as he picked up his wallet and keys.
The two of them made their way to the dining hall and found a table, sitting down next to each other.
“Man, this place is huge. And I’m so glad its buffet style. They have no idea how much money they’re going to lose with me though,” Cisco said once they had their food.
“Cisco, right?” they head a woman’s voice come from behind them.
“Yeah?” Cisco said as he turned around. “Oh! Caitlin, right?”
“Yeah, hi! Do you mind if I sit with you guys?”
“Not at all,” Cisco said.
“Go ahead,” Barry said, nodding his head towards the empty chair across from him. She took a seat and sat her plate and drink down in front of her.
“Hi, I’m Caitlin Snow,” Caitlin said, extending her hand towards Barry. “I met Cisco during orientation last week.”
“Nice to meet you, I’m Barry Allen. Cisco’s roommate,” Barry said, shaking her hand. She was cute. She had light brown hair that was curled loosely which Barry assumed was natural. She had a glint in her eye that made Barry just think she was a complete sweetheart.
“So, what’s your major, Barry?” Caitlin asked, putting a forkful of peas in her mouth.
“I’m a forensic science major with a minor in physics,” Barry told them.
“Really? Caitlin and I are both physics majors,” Cisco said.
“That’s so cool!” Caitlin said.
“I foresee many study sessions in our future,” Cisco said.
“Just don’t be those guys who want to copy all my homework. I had enough of that in high school,” Caitlin said.
“Don’t worry. Those guys were my nightmare too. They’d give me the choice of giving them the answers, or being their punching bag. And after they kicked the crap out of me they’d take the answers anyway,” Barry said.
“College better be an improvement,” Cisco said.
About an hour later, the three of them decided they had taken advantage of the buffet for long enough and headed outside.
“What dorm are you in, Caitlin?” Barry asked.
“I’m on the fifth floor of Anderson,” she said.
“Sweet, we’re on the third,” Cisco said as the group headed towards their dorm.
“I’ve got a floor meeting to attend so I guess I will see you guys tomorrow,” Caitlin said.
“So do we, so that sounds good,” Cisco said as they parted their ways.
“What do you think the floor meeting is about?” Barry asked as he and Cisco leaned against the wall next to their door, waiting for everyone else to arrive.
“Probably just the introduction of our RA and stuff,” Cisco said.
“RA?” Barry asked.
“Resident attendant. Someone older than us who is supposed to keep us in line and crap,” Cisco explained.
The door next to their room opened and a man stepped out, closing the door behind him. At once, Barry was awestruck. The man was drop dead gorgeous. There was no other way to put it.
“Oh hey, you guys must be here for the floor meeting,” he said, smiling at the two of them.
“Yeah, we’re here,” Cisco said, slapping his hand against his and Barry’s door.
“Great, well I’m your RA, Eddie. I live right next to you guys so if you ever need anything, feel free to drop by,” Eddie smiled at them and Barry had to lean against the wall to hold himself up and keep his knees from buckling.
“I’m Barry,” he managed to get out.
“I’m Cisco,” Cisco said afterwards.
“Nice to meet you guys,” Eddie said as more people began to show up. “I’ll start in a few minutes, once everyone gets here.”
Barry had never missed Iris more in his life. She was the only one he really felt comfortable talking about hot guys with. Cisco might not even be cool with him being gay so what was he supposed to do? He’d have to find a way to call Iris later.
“Okay, welcome guys,” Eddie said once he felt enough people were there. “My name is Eddie Thawne, I’m your RA for this year. I’m a graduate student and I’m going for my Master’s in Criminology. If you ever need tutoring just let me know and I can either help you myself or hook you up with someone who can.”
As Barry listened to him talk, he couldn’t help but let his attention be drawn to Eddie’s lips. Every time he’d poke his tongue out to lick his lips Barry could feel his throat go dry. His university t-shirt hugged his chest perfectly and Barry could clearly see his arm muscles ripple and flex as he gestured around as he talked.
“So, that’s about everything I’ve got to say,” Eddie said once he was finished. “If there are no more questions, I guess I’ll see everyone around. Goodnight.”
The crowd began to disperse and Cisco opened their door and nudged Barry when he stayed in his space instead of moving to go in the room.
“Dude, you coming?” Cisco asked and Barry turned his head to look at him.
“Oh. Yeah,” Barry said, walking into their room and closing the door behind him.
“That guy seems like such a frat dude. Why do you think he chose to become an RA? Frat house was full?” Cisco said, climbing up to his top bunk again.
“He doesn’t seem so bad to me,” Barry said, plopping down on his bed.
“I don’t know. He just reminds me of the jerks who bullied me in high school,” Cisco said.
Barry pulled out his phone because he knew that he had to text Iris. She might be busy but he knew she’d get back to him when she could.
To: Iris
Hey! I met a really hot guy today. He’s my RA and his room is right next door to mine. Call me when you can. I need my fangirl.
Barry didn’t even have to wait five minutes for her response.
From: Iris
OH MY GOD BARRY! One day and you’ve already found someone you need to gush to me about. I at least though it would take you a week. Can’t talk now though. I’m going to some sushi place with my roommate. I’ll text you when I can talk! <3
To: Iris
Sushi is gross. Sounds good though. Have fun!
Barry pocketed his phone and looked around his room. He figured he should get out his schedule and mark on his map where his classes were tomorrow.
Before he knew it, his phone buzzing next to his ear was waking him up. He jumped and sat up, wiping the drool from his chin. The room light was off now so Cisco must have gone to bed also. Barry picked his phone up and squinted from the bright light. It was almost midnight and Iris was just calling now.
“Hello?” he whispered, grabbing his room key and quietly got off his bed and stepped out of the room. He walked down the hall into the laundry room which was empty.
“Hey, Bar! Now tell me all about this man candy living right next to you,” Iris said.
Barry jumped up on the dryer and tucked one leg under the other.
“Oh, hello. I had a wonderful day and my roommate is great, thanks for asking,” Barry said.
“Ha ha, very funny. Good, I’m glad. Now spill,” Iris said.
“What do you want to know? I mean, he’s gorgeous. Not my usual type though. Actually, I think you’d find him attractive as well,” Barry said.
“Wow, I’d approve? This one sounds like a keeper, Bar,” Iris said.
“I don’t really have much to tell you I just wanted to tell you something. I usually have you right in the next room to come to,” Barry said.
“Well now you possibly have someone in the next room you can come for,” Iris teased.
Barry playfully rolled his eyes but couldn’t help but smile and felt his cheeks heat up a little bit.
“Shut up. How was your sushi?” Barry asked.
“Delicious as always. But don’t change the subject. Mr. Allen,” Iris said.
“I don’t have anything more to say on the previous subject, Miss West,” Barry replied.
“Well keep me updated. I miss you, Bar.”
“I miss you too,” Barry said.
“Bye.”
“Bye, Iris.”
Barry put his phone back in his pocket and jumped off the dryer, accidentally kicking the other dryer to his right.
“Ah!” Barry groaned and looked at his foot before deciding he needed to learn to be less clumsy. If that was even possible. He walked into the hallway and saw that Eddie’s door was opening.
“Barry, right? You okay?” Eddie asked. He was obviously ready for bed, no shirt on and his blue pajama pants hung low on his hips.
“Yeah, I’m good,” Barry said. He could feel his face heating up and he kept telling himself to make eye contact with Eddie so his gaze wouldn’t go elsewhere.
“I just heard a noise I figured I’d check it out,” Eddie said.
“Oh yeah, that was me. I hit my foot. I tend to do that,” Barry shrugged.
Eddie smiled a little at Barry. “I’ll try to be ready to catch you whenever I see you then.”
“Thanks. I think I’ll need it,” Barry said. “Well, goodnight.”
“Goodnight, Barry.”
Barry went into his room and changed into his pajamas before sliding into bed. He set his alarm for eight o’clock and quickly fell asleep.
The ringing going off almost made Barry want to cry. He was not a morning person. But he pushed himself up out of bed to find that Cisco had already gone. So he quickly got dressed and got ready for the day before grabbing a granola bar. He ate it as he walked out of the dorm and off to his first class: Investigative Techniques I. He found a seat in the second row and took out his notebook.
“Good morning class. I am Professor Ramsay,” the professor began. “I will be your instructor this semester. A copy of the syllabus is going around and on it you will find my email address. You may email me, or your teaching assistant, if you have any questions about anything. Your teaching assistant will be one of my favorite students, Eddie Thawne.”
Barry’s head snapped up when he heard that name. He saw Eddie stand up from a chair in the front of the room. Barry couldn’t believe this. He didn’t know if he was more happy to see him here or more anxious to see him here.
Barry took a syllabus as it came to him and there was Eddie’s email right under the professor’s. Barry wasn’t sure if he was having really good or really bad luck.
~O~
Once all of Barry’s classes were done for the day, he came back to his dorm room and crashed. His first day of college classes was successful but tiring. When Cisco entered and said hi to him Barry only managed a groan in response.
“Great day, huh?” Cisco said as he took a seat in his desk chair and set his bag down on his desk. “At least we have Physics I together.”
“I’m so tired,” Barry said as he sat up. “And I already have homework. My Investigative Techniques class, which our RA is my TA of, has me defining the terms for the first three chapters of the book. It’s not hard though so that’s a plus. I’m just not used to homework on the first day I guess. I swear I’m not a complainer about homework. I’m usually the dork who loves it.”
“Well what do you say we get some dinner before you work on that?” Cisco offered.
“Sounds perfect. Let’s go,” Barry said.
~O~
Once they had finished dinner with Caitlin and a guy she had just met named Ronnie, Barry and Cisco went back to their dorm and Barry got started on his definitions. About half way through he couldn’t find the definition for a word he had to define.
“No, I don’t see it either, man. Hey, you said our RA is your TA, why don’t you go ask him?” Cisco offered.
“Yeah. Yeah, I could do that.” Barry could feel the butterflies in his stomach already. He got off his bed, book in hand, and walked out the door. He stood in front of Eddie’s door, his fist hovering above the wood. He just had to knock, that was all. It wasn’t a big deal, he could definitely do this. He got his courage up and finally knocked. It took a minute before Eddie answered but Barry had wished it would have taken a minute more.
“Hey,” Eddie said, almost breathlessly, as he stood there with only a towel around his hips. His hair was wet and beads of water were falling down his chest. Barry felt himself going red all the way up to the tips of his ears. Why did it seem Eddie was always shirtless when he was opening his door?
“Oh, sorry. I didn’t know you just got out of the shower. I can come back…” Barry said.
“No, no, come in,” Eddie said, stepping aside. “Just let me slip some clothes on. What’s up?”
Barry slowly walked inside and took a look around. He had a nice room. There was plenty of room since he was the only one in it. Only one bed, one desk, and an in suite bathroom just for him. He had a green camouflage comforter on his bed and most of his room was decorated in shades of green. Eddie grabbed a t-shirt and pair of shorts before disappearing behind the wall of his bathroom. Barry tried not to let himself think that this meant Eddie was going commando.
“Well, you’re my TA for my Investigative Techniques class,” Barry started.
“Oh yeah,” Eddie said, popping his head out of the bathroom, still shirtless, to smile at Barry. “I saw you in there. I was going to say hi once class ended but I guess you before I got the chance.”
“Yeah, I had another class in fifteen minutes. Um, but I was working on the definitions and I couldn’t find one.”
Eddie came out of the bathroom, fully dressed, and ran a hand through his wet hair.
“Oh yeah, I had a few students email me about that. Don’t worry about it, I’ll be grading this and once I see your name I’ll just give you credit,” Eddie shot a wink at Barry and sat down on his bed, patting the spot next to him; an invitation for Barry to join. “But don’t get used to it.”
“I won’t,” Barry said and took a seat next to Eddie. “But thank you.”
“Oh, I’m just teasing you,” Eddie said. “I mean, don’t take advantage of me, but I’ll definitely help you out if you need it.”
“I wouldn’t take advantage of you. I mean, I’m not the kind of guy who tries to bribe professors or anything like that. N-Not that I have anything you’d want anyway. I mean, I’m sure you could use money, but who couldn’t, I just—“
Barry was cut off from his ramblings by Eddie’s lips places on his own. Barry sank into the warmth of his mouth. But as soon as Barry began to enjoy it, his lips were gone.
“I am so sorry, Barry. That was not cool of me at all. Here I said don’t take advantage of me and I’m taking advantage of you,” Eddie ran his hands over his face.
“No, no. It was nice,” Barry said. “I didn’t know you were…”
“Gay?” Eddie finished.
“Yeah, that.”
“I guess I don’t give off a scent or anything,” Eddie gave him a playful grin. “I didn’t know you were either. But I just wanted to kiss you so badly and I guess my heart kind of took over my brain for a second. I’m sorry, it won’t happen again.”
“It won’t?” Barry failed to hide the disappointment in his voice.
“Do you want it to?” Eddie asked.
“Yeah, I mean, I’d like to…date you,” Barry admitted.
“What’s your last name?” Eddie asked.
“Allen. Why?” Barry asked.
“Barry Allen, would you like to accompany me for sushi tomorrow night?” Eddie asked, smiling cheesily at him.
“I hate sushi,” Barry let out a laugh.
“How about pizza then? If you tell me you don’t like pizza I don’t think this relationship will work out,” Eddie chuckled.
Barry laughed and shook his head. His heart leapt a little at the term “relationship.”
“I love pizza,” Barry said.
“Great, it’s a date then.”
“It’s a date,” Barry repeated.
“Does this mean I can’t kiss you until our third date?” Eddie asked.
“It definitely doesn’t mean that,” Barry said.
“Good. Because I want to.”
Eddie took the textbook from Barry and tossed it onto his desk before leaning in and kissing Barry again. Eddie cupped Barry’s face in his hands and Barry lay back down against Eddie’s pillows. Eddie lifted a leg over Barry, straddling him and pressing their chests together as they kissed.
Somehow Barry had the feeling that Cisco would have the room to himself some nights this year.

Summary: Barry Allen is pissed. Like, really pissed. It’s not like he doesn’t enjoy pranks—hell, he’s been doing them for the past twenty years of his life, he’s practically perfected the art of pranking—but he feels that right now, at 3 in the morning, walking through his dorm building to get outside into the cold winter air, that whoever decided to prank-pull the fire alarm was a complete asshole who deserved to be thrown off the roof of Central Hall.
