My first pair of glasses from when I was only about 4 years old... how could I have been so tiny? When I was born, my brain decided that since one of my eyes was not as good as the other one, it would not build the connections to the irregular eye. I didn't act like I was blind in one eye, I read voraciously and ran around like any other kid. We only found out that I had such poor vision when my mom went in to get glasses and I was with her. I was watching the doctor did an eye exam on my mom, extremely interested, and she asked the doc if they could pretend to do one for me. Next thing you know, they're covering my good eye and asking how many fingers they're holding up. Naturally, I had no idea, and soon began a campaign to try and fix my eye. There were frequent visits to a specialist, there were eye drops, there were patches put over my good eye to force my bad one to connect to my brain. Through it all, I had a stuffed dog named Sally with me. Every patch, every drop went into her eyes before mine. I still have her to this day. When they checked my vision originally, I had 20/2400 vision in my bad eye. Today it's about 20/30. I'm a medical miracle and I couldn't be happier! How could I live without the leaves on the trees, without small print in books? I still wear glasses, but my eyes are pretty good. Anyways, just found my baby glasses and wanted to share. Have a nice day, and thanks for reading!
