So I have a theory that any problem that happens within the confinds of the mind can be fixed within the confinds of the mind. This is an untestable theory and boarders on victim blaming, but it's the only theory that I have so far. And it kind of works for me. I don't really talk about it anymore because reasons... But I was an intravenous drug user for many years. (I Know you would never guess. (or maybe you knew something was off but just couldn't out your finger on it. Lol)) Once upon a time when I was first struggling to quit, I tried NA/AA (the primary addiction treatment model) but their premise is that you have no control over your addiction... Which felt fundementally untrue to me. I know it works for some people and I have no real opinion about that (whatever fucking works). But for me, because I am aware of my own thoughts. And understand that my thoughts do not dictate my behavior. (And if you want to get metaphysical, I believe that I am not my thoughts or my behaviors)But because the addiction was only mental (pain/phisical withdrawal is still mental. We dictate how we respond to pain) I just changed my relationship to my thoughts. That sounds really simple. It's not. It's obviously extremely complicated. And I don't want to minimize all the (YT) people dying of overdose and struggling with addiction in the middle of the country. But I no longer consider myself an addict because it's a problem that only exists in my mind. And If I change my mind, I change the problem. (Denial is not just a river in Egypt. It's a powerful thing. Lol) This is just my experience, but That's the most extreme example I could think of. We have access to an infinite internal world and to master that world is to becomes a master of the universe. #IHaveThePower #SheRa Do not sell yourself short. We may not be able to control anything outside of ourselves, but the most important things are not external. Know thyself and one can do wonders. But if anyone asks: “Drug addict? Me?
