I’ve never been so personally affected by someone’s passive action on the internet then trying to look up a fanfiction that carried me through some formative years only to discover that the author deleted the story/their account for whatever reason.
It’s not a replace like irl. You go to your hometown where you grew up and the Subway is now a Boba place or they finally tore down that old office building and put up an apartment complex. Things change but they make way for new things. Generational turnover. There are new kids making new memories at those places.
This…is just an absence. Someone made something, shared it with the world, poured passion and effort and work that only people in that fandom would appreciate, that only people who shared the same level of interest would resonate with it….
And they took a light out of the sky.
If you ever feel cringe or fall out of love with a fandom….just make a new account. Or go to a new website to post your fanfic.
My reading history is a tapestry of colors and lights, a stream of shipping, crack fics, long fics, novelizations, one shots, Halloween and Christmas challenges.
Over analyzed movies, religiously followed TV shows, reflections on video games, comics and anime.
Please.
Don’t take the light that showed me who I was away.
