HI HELLO I did a bunch of art for a video game demo AND NOW I GET TO SHARE IT!!!
The Beanery
Running a bean shop isn't as easy as they make it out to be. In this game demo from Rider & Reiati, you'll spend three days running your own Beanery. Talk to your neighbors, steam beans, and serve orders!
This is our first video game!! If you keep an eye on my portfolio, you might have already seen some concepts from it. It’s only a bit of the full vision, there were a lot of features we skipped over for the sake of having something finished instead of leaving it in a stressed limbo. BUT. For a first video game, I THINK WE DID REALLY GOOD?? James did all the programming and initial game mechanics and story concept, and I ended up helping complete the design, and doing all the art and writing! Our composer Tom (who is lacking in social media) did a wonderful job providing a bunch of different background music for the three days of running the shop.
anyways. yeah, I’m not great at stuff like this. EXCITED NOISES HERE’S A GAME BYE

The Beanery is one of the famous cafe and eatery here at balanga, bataan Their famous for their foods, pasta, pastries, cakes, drinks and so much more to choose from them.
So for today i'll show you may favorite items from them.
Pork Sisig
Their pork sisig has the right amount of crunchiness, spice, mayonnaise and saltiness. In my perspective it’s one of their best sellers along with their cordon bleu. However, their serving isn’t proportional as you might want another serving of extra rice due to their generous amount of sisig served. Albeit there are times when they serve a plate of sisig where the sisig is bland and dry.
Lechon Kawali Crispy that’s the punchline for this lechon kawali. In my perspective the condiments compliment the lechon kawali, the sweet & sour taste of the atsara and the sweet sarsa taste of its sauce. The perfect crispiness is matched with the sauce, you might also ask for another serving of rice along with it.
Reese’s Cup-puccino See the pun in there? Reese’s cup made into a cappuccino drink. The first experiment drink of their were the ferrerocino a Ferrero cappuccino. It was my first time to try the Reese drink. So my thoughts? It taste like a Reese albeit the nuts of the drink feels coarse in my throat. Since it’s my first time to taste it i wouldn’t completely recommend it yet. My take is it isn’t that too sweet like the ferrerocino, still you can’t drink it all in one serving or an hour. So take it lightly on the sweets.
Lemonade The timeless taste of lemonades is a perfect match with the meal that you are served. Beanery is known for their lemonade serve along with their food. Their lemonade has its zingy taste of sourness at the first sip and a sweet aftertaste. Whats the best way to quench your thirst and pair with your meal than a sweet lemonade on a hot day.
Mojos The mojos is one of the famous appetizer here at the bean, it is a cut baked potato that is served with a sweet & sour tartar sauce. Unlike any other restaurants or cafe’s mojos the bean’s mojos is well seasoned; not to salty or bland, just the right amount of condiments. Just like how addicting dipping fries with ketchup, the tartar sauce has its own strong character. Starting out sour, then when you take a bite of it with the mojos a sweet aftertaste takes over your taste buds.
Almond Cheesecake No cafe would be a cafe without their sweets, pastries and cakes. So for these one their almond cheese cake is one of the beanery’s best selling cake. The sweet taste of a cheese cake is topped with melted chocolate and almond nuts. The mixture of the two makes a rhythm inside my mouth on the middle of my tongue like a orchestra playing in harmony the almond and cheese cake compliment each other. This cake is just perfect for my own taste. I can’t eat at the bean without ordering a slice of it.
Nowadays it is rare to find a cafe that has a good ambiance and has friendly atmosphere along with their budget wise meals that is worth every penny that you are paying for. The Beanery truly deserves more recognition from other cliche cafe that uses the same concept. If you find yourself at balanga and you need to chill for a bit, The Beanery is the perfect place for you.
Edward Kienholz - “The Beanery”, 1965
The Beanery is a 2/3rds replica of the infamous “Barneys Beanery” in California. The bar has a rich history of being welcoming to all creatives including musicians and artists.
The piece itself represents the passing of time in a negative manor. This is displayed by the clock “faces” on the customers heads. Kienholz is noted saying "A bar is a sad place, a place full of strangers who are killing time, postponing the idea that they're going to die." He did not consider the vibrant social aspect of “The Beanery” but instead had a negative outlook of how it speeds up our time of death.
This is a defining piece of how addiction and a turbulent lifestyle sadly knocked many creatives down in the 60s and 70s. This piece may have negative connotations, but “Barneys Beanery” undoubtedly had a thriving social aspect to it, like many traditional Irish pubs.
You have to take the good with the bad in these places of both addiction and community.
I love The Beanery so much- museum/coffee shop/art everywhere with Beatles music playing it’s such a chill place it’s like my little sanctuary
OH, and I might be getting a job in the museum so wish me luck please! I really want this job!
