Triple threat art trade with the lovely @daisybrien ♡ Lots of flowers, lots of symbolism~
(Marlow, Daisy, and Alex are from "The Devil's Engine", "The Fury", and the "Escape From Furnace" series, all by Alexander Gordon Smith)
You won’t believe what happened next, Pan. He turns himself into a pickle! Calls himself Pickle Rick! Funniest shit I’ve ever seen.
Marlow Green, probably.
[ID: an illustration by @soledadcatalina of Truck and Night from The Devil’s Engine over a screencap of @danrue and @nicknpattiwhack causing shenanigans; Truck is the latter in the foreground, while Night dances on top of a wall cheekily as the former]

couldn’t decide which version I liked better, so here’s Night, a whole lesbian, chilling at sunset.
[Start ID: Two photos of the same four muppet-style, crocheted puppets depicting characters from multiple Alexander Gordon Smith works. In the first photo, the puppets all face the camera in a circle as if they’re taking a selfie. In the second photo, they lie on a library display table. Clint is a vibrant purple robot with magenta and grey highlights, four arms, and big round eyes. Donovan is black with a blue shirt and coily hair, tired but calm, big eyes, and a little hamburger attached to one hand. Daisy is black, with small eyes and pink eyelashes, a burgundy shirt, and long black hair. Nightingale is light brown, has small eyes with thick, short eyebrows, a green and white jacket, and long black hair tied at the back in a ponytail with an undercut on her left side]
You don’t often get the opportunity to use both your obscure niche novel obsessions AND your crochet skills in an academic setting, but my gender studies course in storytelling and knowledge-making provided the perfect opportunity to put the two together. And to celebrate my course mark being released (an A+!) I’ve finally decided to share the final pieces of the project here.
Interpretations draws on Alexander Gordon Smith’s fiction works to investigate how LGBTQ+ fans use character and narrative as objects of projection and self-expression, and how fan-works and communication between the author and other fans reinterpret and transform the sexual, gender, and racial knowledges re/produced in the original texts. This final project was a labour of utmost love, and I’m amazed at the reception these guys got from all of my classmates, professors, and TAs!
I do commissions!

Pan: The Engine can make just about any wish you might have come true.
Marlow: Any wish?
Pan: Any. Wish.
Marlow: Even, for example, to have superpowers and save innocent people?
Pan: Yes, even stupid ones.
