dumb idea 2, nora dies for a pancake… she comes back a week later telling jaune that he has to play a poker game against god or else they will both die (in nora's case again), jaune tries to lose but the lady of fortune shouts: (I didn't keep you alive so you would surrender to that bitch (the god of light)).
So, it turns out that The Brothers were not the first gods to enter Remnant, nor were they the last. Before them, the Tree sent an avatar of itself into the wild, unshaped world and molded the mountains and hills and seas and then judged them on their perfection. After such time, The Judge, as he was named, then took it upon himself to rest. When the Brothers entered, he guided them into their creation of all things to fill his world. When the Brothers created humans and faunus, he then took it upon himself to allow them to judge their own works, and again, he rested. When he awoke, all of it was destroyed. Angered, he forced them to undo their mistake, though they also took it upon themselves to curse two mortals. This was fair, once told how the conflict came to be. Now The Judge waits silently in The Brothers place, choosing who passes into blissful paradise or returns as the Grimm. Oh, yeah, the Grimm are made of dead people, in case you didn't know.
Why am I telling you this? Well...
My friend, Nora, died choking on the world's largest pancake. Turns out maple syrup doesn't make for a good lubricant. Having said this, she came back into the world of the living, making her funeral a pending waste of lien and dragging ME to the afterlife to challenge The Judge to a final battle for the fate of all of Remnant. Yeah. ALL of Remnant. How'd that happen? The same way I got into this mess: Nora being Nora. Naturally, fighting an ancient deity capable of creating and destroying anything they desired made for a swift end for me... A hundred times. Because The Judge has spectators, and one of them is The Brother of Light's ex, The Fortune. She keeps bringing me back, saying "No yet! Not until I can shove this in his smug face!"
Nora is also there, giving her ideas, and making my life a living hell. I'm going to be here a while, so I hope I'm not missing anything big or important back home.
Warren Beatty + Jack Nicholson in The Fortune (1975)
In an age when all parts were played by men, the Fortune Theatre relied on female backers, a study shows
While a few women investors in the Fortune were previously known, it has now been revealed that they made up a third of the playhouse’s financial backers between the mid-1620s and late 1640s. Of 71 investors, including the carpenter who had worked on the playhouse, 24 were women and, from time to time, owned the majority of shares. While some inherited theirs, others purchased them for themselves, despite having no previous connection with the theatre.
