You know… I'm not actually convinced that the Templars would always notice if you got possessed during your Harrowing?

Like they don't have the best track record for noticing that people are possessed? Sure if you're glowing, speaking in double voice or visibly mutated they notice. But if you look normal and act normal, they don't.

To all appearances Templars don't have have any special ability to detect possession. Special ability to provoke spirit/demon flare up possibly yes, but that is by being a traumatizing, violent, threatening, abusive and all round a terrible person that their victim knows can and will murder them.

'Abominations' (for lack of a better word) seem to have some degree of adjustment period, but it isn't always extreme and seems to act up mostly in response to strong negative surprises.

A patient, calm level headed spirit/mage pair who entered into the possession willing and in full anticipation of how they would need to Not React to the Templars. Or a very skillful demon who managed to take possession of a mage very smoothly in full knowledge of the situation they would be getting into. These seem like instances were a Mage could walk away from their Harrowing possessed without the Templars having a clue.

Here is Chapter 60 of the Harrowing, A shadow in clear skies! In this one Maedhros makes some apologies, has a variety of difficult conversations, and discovers that Annatar is correct: Frodo is scary, actually.

Ever look at something and think, 'oh yeah, it hasn't been that long since I drew smth from that' then double check and find out it has been.. SEVEN ENTIRE MONTHS?? *ahem. That was me. a few days ago. Suffice it to say, I wanted to draw Annatar shenanigans again, and figured I'd do some fluff this time instead of ~harrowing angsty-ness~ :D (I mean, there is absolutely plenty of angsty-ness in this chapter, I just chose a moment of chocolate appreciation to capture specifically~ :D)

Also. This chapter inspired me to make the nicest hot chocolate I have attempted in a long time (with like, actual chocolate shavings and cream and everything) and if you want to be re-inspired to bake things then I would absolutely recommend it~ :D

Spoiler warning for chapter 60 of the Harrowing by @chthonion

There will be some explanation about my art process and choices under the cut. Have the art (It's a wallpaper!) first:

First I must address the most eyesore thing in the drawing: Finrod and his fashion choices. In my defense it started with me deciding that if I must give the elves pants (I usually give them skirts bc pretty) the pants must be hobbit style (mid-calf with a cuff). Then my brain took the wheel and gave them slippers (bc they must be cosy ok?) and, without my consent, decided that Finrod's slippers were gift from Bilbo and, naturally, a mildly offensive reference to his death. It was either "woof woof" (more specific reference) or "nom nom" (a pun) and I asked @icelandicflutterby for input at this point. They get credit for the colour scheme of the slippers. And me deciding Finrod has terrible fashion sense in terms of colours. I'm innocent okay? I only committed to the bit. The brown of the pants if the exact opposite colour of the turquoise of the shirt. I used the colour wheel to pick it, trust me I know.

Next I must address my Celebrimbor design: it is what it is. He is a hot mess and he has a boob window, yes. This is my Celegorm's usual fashion style that small Tyelpe copied. Adorable, right?

While my Finrod wears no hairdo and much jewelry usually (very hair naked by Noldorin standards), my Tyelpe is much more Noldorin and wears both jewelry and hairdo. I had time for absolutely nothing bc I wanted to finish it fast and it is exams time. Y'all get to be peeping toms on them elves. Enjoy!

Frodo is purposely perfectly put together in terms of clothes and colours. The vest's buttons match the pants' colour even! It is partly so there's clear visual contrast between him and Finrod and partly bc I think Frodo is like that.

Inspired by chapter 52. Though sort of an amalgamation of other chapters as well :P Have some emotions and themes regardless. @chthonion
