Ferris wheel as the night winds down to an end. Ocean City, Maryland, down at the Inlet around 10 PM (just before they shut the lights off for the evening). The wheel was extremely colorful and the colors and patterns were shifting a lot... but I really love this black and white take on it.

We really need more Wave Ocean remixes. There is not a lot to choose from, but there is this piece done by two of the community’s greatest!
“BUT WAIT!” I hear you all cry. “Don’t you all ready have a White Space remix of Wave Ocean in your archives?” Yes! But that was done by a different artist, and it was a remix of “The Water’s Edge”. THIS REMIX, however, is a remix of the more definitive Wave Ocean theme, “The Inlet”. Other then that, it’s about what you expect. Acoustic rock with a wind instrument to create a calming feel. The only thing that kept this from becoming part of our Recommended Listening is the fact that it’s short and loopable.

Christmas Staff Picks: The Inlet by Claire Tham recommended by Benedicta

Claire Tham’s voice juggles multiple perspectives in this Singapore Literature Prize nominated piece of fiction. The Inlet is home to a plethora of characters, including Ling, a Chinese national. Having given up her life as a lab technician, she moves to Singapore and makes a living as a hostess, and settles in her new identity with all its glitz and glamour (or lack thereof).
Perhaps what will draw audiences the most are the scenes that accompany the strong characters; gaudy offices of stereotypically flashy Chinese businessmen to whitewashed houses with their own marinas are beautifully described. And despite its diversity, one thing remains constant: the gritty, Wong Kar Wai-esque quality of Claire’s settings. Who knew Singapore could look so full of character?
