The irony of the Night in Nightless city being a night of celebration for the deceased heroes of Sunshot campaign but also being the night the clans deciding to go after and siege one of their biggest hero of said war while doing exactly what the Wens did to start said war (and worse) to the Wen Remnants.
I will never not stop side eyeing the 33 whip on lwj. But lsz grew up to be so lovely and kind there is no way lxc and lqr treated him harshly. Lwj do a have big role in that. Lsz wears lan headband and the lan name with pride. I can't stand the lqr abusive grand uncle fic set. Even tho they have done their own part of fuck up i still believe Lxc and Nmj to be the only brothers with right.
Lan Xichen and Nie Mingjue did as they could as siblings forced into a parental role at a young age, is how I view that particular discourse. Being raised heavily by a brother I looked on as a father puts that lens on that part of the novel for me that I can't disavow that the text was showing.
For that punishment, it has to also be remembered that Lan Wangji allowed whatever form the punishment they decided. He was standing by Wei Wuxian ideologically, which in the vein of filial piety, is a massive thing for him to do as a show of individualism. No the punishment wasn't "fair", but unfortunately that world was never fair. The Lans fought for the easiest punishment to give while avoiding execution for the act of harming his own members. Lan Qiren and Lan Xichen also never blamed Lan Wangji, they had only had the idea that Lan Wangji hurt himself with no payback for someone undeserving. And Lan Xichen was never the type to deny his brother anything as much as possible.
They do not have a bias against the Wens themselves after everything that came from that. They still knowingly sheltered a Wen child as a deep inner member of their own sect and never denied the child their methods or love.
Quarantine/self isolation is now called secluded cultivation. We’re all honing our skills these months.
I think the rule about not talking to Wei Wuxian was supposed to be read like Gusu Lan’s rule about pets: there are rabbits here and we play and pet and feed them, but they’re running wild, so they’re not pets!!! What are you talking about?
The rabbit thing is a good point because it’s actually proof that there are rules that get broken on a constant basis and people just... pretend they’re not. Thinking about it, the rabbit thing makes the general fandom consensus that the Lans are insanely strict about their rules kind of strange because. the place that has a rule against pets has an entire field of “”””””””””””””wild”””””””””””””””” rabbits and no one, not even LQR, says shit about it. They just do not care. Everyone knows these are pets but that is Unimportant.

Here's the real question though.
Are the Lans all ambidextrous or is their non dominant arm just insanely strong and the dominant one just flaps all about?
Because if they have to do handstands while copying the rules that means only one arm gets a work out except they can switch it around halfway through.
