You have such an amazing eye for detail and your designs for Katara and Zuko clothing are spectacular, i just love how you blend their different cultures in their attire, and that got me thinking:
In world, how involved do you think Zuko and Katara are in the process of their attire being crafted? Do you think they leave it all up to the tailors? Provide ideas or concepts? etc. I'd assume Katara would be very passionate about making sure SWT aspects of her dress would be incorporated authentically, but I'm curious on your thoughts!
Ah, thanks, darling! I'd love to think they're extremely involved with the craft and design of their attires, especially Katara. She's the one who teaches the royal tailors to do Water Tribe embroidery, and makes sure the patterns are present everywhere.
She insists that her traditional Fire Nation outfits must be made out of blue fabric, with golden and silver patterns (though the occasional red robe is highly welcomed). She wears ivory beads and accessories, and always has a fur overcoat around, just in case (the Palace is on the top of a dormant volcano—they get snow sometimes).
Meanwhile—and somewhat surprisingly—it's Zuko who insists the most on promoting the blending of cultures via the Royal Couple's appearance. He's pretty ruthless about it. The Fire Lord is heavily pressured to adhere to tradition, which makes Zuko even more determined to break said tradition.
The Fire Sages almost had a collective heart attack when they first saw His Royal Majesty, Holy Son of Agni, Master of the Eternal Dragonfire, Peacekeeper, Lightbringer, Fire Lord Zuko, wear blue robes with tribal patterns and bone jewelry. The horror! The audacity! The scandal!
Katara just laughed.
