I know a lot of people like early seasons Destiel, don't get me wrong I do too.

But I looooove later seasons Destiel (from S12 to S15) because that's where the widower arc happens and there's no coming back from that. People can deny Destiel all they want, BUT the thing is that this widower arc exists, it happened like for real in the show.

And at the same time without early seasons Destiel there's no later seasons Destiel.

Hmm. You know what? I love every seasons Destiel, because that's them. That's part of their relationship, that's what made them who they are. I love them.

Okay but if we're maximizing angst: Dick feeling replaced by the kid Bruce gave his mantle too and seemed to actually embrace as family and actually miss when he was gone

Jason being all "he replaced me!"

And Dick, all resigned and bitter, being like "yeah he does that"

Yep! And it hurts so much more with the through-lines of internalized omegaphobia and trauma for Bruce's perspective. Where he wasn't ready to be around an alpha in his pack, or even admit to being an omega, with Dick. But with Jason, he started rejecting some of those conclusions, since they couldn't match up with everything that Jason was. And Jason never knew how far Bruce had come as an omega, only believing that Bruce's omega designation doomed him to the Joker.

So Jason comes back, furious that Bruce was weak and omega and couldn't protect him. Now he's being replaced by pups, not realizing how much of a step forward it was for Bruce to even submit to a heat, much less a pregnancy. And Dick comes back, to find that not only has Bruce replaced him once-over with a Robin, but now with actual pups and a pack - a connection he'd been craving ever since he presented, years ago.

Of course they both feel hurt and blame Bruce. And Bruce isn't blameless. But it's really angsty how they miss the greater context, for why Bruce is this way, and why this progress is so important to maintain. And how he can't make up for his past wrongs, but he can at least try to welcome them into this new pack, and make it a work in progress.
