SO.

I just watched part one and two of the Clone Wars finale. Old Friends Not Forgotten and The Phantom Apprentice.

Thoughts:

Ahsoka’s new design is epic. I love her medium length lekku and her Death Watch shirt and her Bo Katan headband…

Her reunion with Anakin and Obi was so sweet! Though am I alone in being a little annoyed by Ani in this one? Not throughout the whole thing but he seems snarkier-in-an-unpleasant-way and grumpier than usual. Though I will take it over the usual Clone Wars flavor of Bland Heroic Anakin. (I swear I’m an Anakin fan I just don’t always like the Clone Wars version of him and how they made him so different.)

“He murdered my sister…” Like your boyfriend Vizsla was going to? In all seriousness though, I do love Bo-Katan, I just wish she had a better redemption arc, something more than “well I’m Maul’s enemy so I’m a good guy.” (I know, I’m being picky today, but just imagine an arc detailing Bo going from The Terrorist Who Was Fine With Her Sister Dying to The Hero Who Saved Her People And Avenged Her Sister. I will stop complaining now.)

This episode can literally be summed up as Cool Strong Pretty Girls (and a few clones) Saving The Day. And I’m here for it.

Is… is Maul coming? Is he coming now? How about now? Is that him? No that’s Rook Kast. Or as I call her, Evil Sabine Wren. When is Maul coming?

Oh there he is… okay, seriously though, imagine how terrifying it would be to stand in a dark hallway and then you hear footsteps and Maul’s voice as he slowly comes into the light…

You know… his very very pretty voice… yeah “scared” probably wouldn’t be the way to describe it if I were in Ahsoka’s position…

“I was hoping for Kenobi…” WE KNOW.

“And who will (take over the Republic)?” “Darth… Sidious…” He sounds so scared but also impressed… he really needs a hug who said that?

Maul is basically a Mandalorian now with that speech… you know what good for him. Mauldalorian. (Now I want to write an AU where he becomes an actual Mando)

Yes this is taking place during RotS. I’m scared. Which makes me realize Maul is basically taking the role of the audience, he knows what’s going to happen and is completely terrified, and also hoping that maybe it’ll be fine, but no matter what he does the outcome will never change.

Yes Almec is dead! Him and his purple eyes! And his Boba-Fett-hasn’t-been-eating-enough-looking armor! That being said since when does he wear armor?

Maul asking Ahsoka to join him, the moment we’ve all been waiting for! I also love that Maul’s line of thought is basically “The entire Jedi Order can’t stop this guy. But you know who can? A relatively physically weak Zabrak who was abused by the guy in question for most of his life, lost horribly last time he fought him, and as such has been too scared to rematch him until now, assisted by a skinny little Padawan who never even finished her training!” (I know Ahsoka and Maul are both stronger than they look, but the point still stands that she’s the girl version of a twunk and he’s pretty weak compared to most Nightbrothers.)

I would take his hand seriously who said that?

“You have but to ask…” Do I melt because that voice or do I start laughing because who talks like that in a situation this urgent?

The breaking glass… What did I say when I saw the shot of the Darksaber blade with Maul’s face behind it? Oh yes… “pretty show…”

Annnnd Maul loses his chance to save the day. Because he said too much. Which is completely in character, unfortunately.

That. Duel. Also the fact that they brought in Ray Park to do the motion capture for Maul. *Star Wars fanperson screaming*

Maul would literally rather fall to death than face Sidious and Order 66. And now he’s desperately yelling things like “WE’RE ALL GOING TO DIE!” Which makes me super impressed at Sam Witwer’s screaming voice (A certain quote from Rebels, anyone?) and also makes me realize that Maul desperately needs a chance to get away from the Sith and their plans and start healing and actually getting a good life. And also he needs a hug WILL YOU STOP THAT???

See you guys next time for Shattered. The title of which does not give me an optimistic feeling. And after that comes Victory And Death.

“Victory and Death?!”

You know what, “Shattered” sounds great.
