Currently reading Small Angels by Lauren Owen, and it’s creeping me out. Folk horror about a family curse, a haunted forest, and the villagers who live in denial about it. I loved Owen’s previous novel, The Quick.

MONDAY MATINEE MUSIC VIDEO “Lullaby (Celtic Mix)” hhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uaq6mYBdmwU —If you run this video enough times the fairies of Tír na nÓg might float out of your box. Chris composed this music and recorded a few different arrangements of it, with this mix by George McFarlane, known to many from the UK synthpop band The Quick (George went on to work with Gabrielle, Chaka Khan, Lulu, Kylie Minogue and other notables). These days George composes and produces film/TV soundtracks. which lends a cinematic air to "Lullaby." On a cosmic jukebox “Lullaby” would play next to Enya, Ulrich Schnauss, and Vangelis.

THE QUICK - “HIP, SHAKE, JERK”
While dance-pop duo “The Quick” themselves hailed from the UK, their biggest hit, 1980′s “Hip, Shake, Jerk,” achieved most of its success in the Australian market, for some reason. It’s a hooky, high-energy tune that you’d think would have quite a lot of international appeal, making appearances in all the discotheques of the world, but the charts can be fickle! It seems especially odd to me given that light and danceable synth-pop doesn’t seem to be such a regular feature Down Under, and there seems to be a greater interest in rock music there than in most of Europe. I suppose this track has a bit of a punkish edge to it, though. Despite having a few other songs that got some traction in the dance clubs later in the 80s, The Quick would never quite duplicate the popularity of “Hip, Shake, Jerk.”
This freaks me out. it sounds identical to island-years Sparks.
in other words, i love this album, please listen to it
A lazy day of novel reading.
