Five Days We left the weight behind, the locked doors, the tick of clocks that never loved us. Five days— not enough to outrun the world, but enough to remember what it means to breathe. Tonight, we stand together on the breakwater, watching the ferry nose its way towards the city’s waiting arms. The lighthouse blinks— a patient pulse of light, as if even stone towers long to guide someone home. Your hand finds mine. The salt air is softer when shared, and in your silence I hear all the words you cannot say— that in escaping, we were not fleeing life, but reaching towards it. The ferry slides in, slow, deliberate, inevitable. But here, between the sea and the city, we are infinite. Five days— enough to remind us that the world can suffocate, but love— love always opens the lungs.
