"Why now?" Why not? In my defense, I was left unsupervised, and so Lestat gives us three songs in one for Christmas, but recorded on Boxing Day, because that's when I had the idea. One of the funniest parts of Queen of the Damned is when Armand and Daniel see Jesse at the concert hall, and Armand immediately recognizes her as Talamasca, and Daniel is all, "That's a cool word, what does it mean?" And Armand is just like, "It means Lestat is a fool!"

Armand totally knows exactly who and what the Talamasca are, and what they do, and he is just so fucking done. Lestat is going through with his concert and they're probably all going to die, and now to add insult to injury, the Talamasca are there to record everything and probably ransack their vampire corpses for their collection afterward, and he's 100% over it.

I also love that Daniel is just obsessed with how cool the word sounds. Dude is so high on being a vampire for ENTIRE DAYS after being turned and it's so great.

Sometimes I think about all the weird little details we get in the Devil's Minion section of Queen of the Damned, and how all of that had to have come from Daniel telling Lestat literally everything that happened in great detail (because you know Armand would only give vague answers and Lestat gave up on him in like one night.)

I picture Daniel lying on a sofa in one of the rooms at Night Island, almost like he's therapy, just spilling his guts every night for a week, while Lestat takes copious notes and ends up with 500 pages of Daniel and Armand nonsense that he later has to whittle down, and of course he's going to pick the weirdest fucking shit to include.

Meanwhile, Armand was probably at the door listening and occasionally yelling "Don't tell him about that!" until Louis had to drag him away.

Do you ever think about how Daniel must have lost his fucking mind the first time he got his hands on a copy of The Vampire Lestat and read about Armand living in a filthy cemetery, leading a satantic vampire cult, screaming at Lestat that vampires could never live among humans? Because I do.
