My first skein of handspun is completed! It's taken me over a year, on and off, to spin this skein. The singles were spun half on a supported spindle and half on my EEW. I plied them on my EEW, and it was so hard to get even plying because the singles were so inconsistent. It looked crazy before I washed it, but it really relaxed nicely with washing and some snapping.

Spin: z twist singles, s twist ply

These are my balled up singles, I spun half of the fiber on my supported spindle, which made the top two cakes. The bottom cake is a bit bigger and had more yardage and I sput it on my electric eel. I used a plying bracelet to fully use all my singles.

so i finally got the electric eel 6.1 spinning wheel and the first thing i did was ply the yarn i made on the drop spindle. its a fun way to get a feel for it and so far i'm enjoying myself.

it naturally doesn't give that fairy tale vibe but i still like it and i got it from the woolery so it came with six bobbins which is really cool and it came with a pretty big bag of wool to practice on.

after this im gonna try and actually spin instead of ply and get back to you guys with an update im sure you're all quite invested

My Wheel is Fixed!

My husband fixed my wheel!  We went and got an oak dowel and he very carefully pushed the old one out and cut the new one and replaced it and it works!Also, and I hadn't noticed until yesterday, but the extra length of drive band I'd ordered and paid for didn't come with the wheel. Yet another reason to never deal with The Woolery again. Getting my refund for that when I call them tomorrow, and then they can shove it where the sun shineth not.

Spinning Wheel!

Finally ordered my first wheel!  Been considering it on and off for months, and yesterday I just did it.  I ended up narrowing it down to an Ashford Kiwi from the Merlin Tree and an Ashford Traditional from the Woolery.  I decided on the Traditional. I took spinning lessons for about half a year with an absolutely phenomenal teacher, both as a person and an artist.  I decided to get it unfinished on his advice, and will be finishing it myself with some tung oil from amazon.  The finish from the website was 135 dollars more, and the tung oil was less than twenty.  Super excited!
