Yarn Spinner by Norman Rockwell, 1930
so i finally got the electric eel 6.1 spinning wheel and the first thing i did was ply the yarn i made on the drop spindle. its a fun way to get a feel for it and so far i'm enjoying myself.
it naturally doesn't give that fairy tale vibe but i still like it and i got it from the woolery so it came with six bobbins which is really cool and it came with a pretty big bag of wool to practice on.
after this im gonna try and actually spin instead of ply and get back to you guys with an update im sure you're all quite invested
Well... colour me disappointed. I've been wanting to tackle maybe making a larger crochet project like a sweater and finally bit the bullet and ordered some yarn to try it out. Went with a mostly-cotton yarn because I do love the weight and drape of cotton. Went with this particular cotton yarn - despite having to pay import and shipping fees to order from the US for it - because I really liked the heathered look it has and figured it'd work up pretty attractively.
I was not prepared for how much finer DK yarn is than regular worsted (when I was previously doing crocheting 20+ years ago all my purchases were in-store and vibe-based so I've only got the vaguest ideas so far on wool sizes and necessary amounts). This 6 skein bundle is supposed to be enough yarn to make either a baby blanket or an adult sweater (852 yards) and all I can think looking at this is "must be a pretty darn small adult".
Mistaken Identity
Another pony I decided to make into a D&D character, and of course I had to make a tiefling. Everyone meet Astoria Ceridwell, a very well-known author who is a modest noble from Wysteria and graduated the college of Timberhollow with a doctorate in Creative Writing and Literature. She writes historical fiction, with her latest series focusing on the Axian Civil Wars. She also moonlights as the author Thlia St. Eros, who writes romance novels, AKA smut. If someone knew she was writing bodice rippers, her reputation as a respectable author would be RUINED. She prides herself on historical accuracy in EVERYTHING she writes, and often researches the history around the area, bttles, people, etc. She often travels and interviews anyone she can find who can give her first-hand accounts. This led her to stowing away on what she thought was a corsair ship to gain some first-hand experience for a pirate romance series, but it ended up being a Curoqi pirate ship. Thankfully, Quirraani was understanding. She spent a couple years in Curoq, gaining information about the archipelago, Gilded War, etc. All the while she was writing simple Dime Novels for some extra money. She came back to Axia with a couple of manuscripts...just in time for Cutter to start his war. Great. Now her pirate series would never sell. However, unknown to her is the danger of being a white tiefling with reddish-hair and a single horn carrying the title of Doctor and Lady, sailing into Axia on a blue ship with a tabaxi on board. Also fun fact: Her name and pen name is deep in references. Astoria Ceridwell Astoria is literally "A story." Ceridwell is the Welsh goddess of poetry. Thalia St. Eros Thalia is the Greek muse of comedy. Eros is the Greek god of love and the name for specifically romantic love in Ancient Greece. St. is just there for pretention. So literally "Pretentious Romantic Comedy." More about Axia and my DM's world here: https://www.worldanvil.com/w/aulivar-cpttritium Hope you enjoy~! Day 56 and 57 of the 2022 challenge to draw an OC a day. This is in an effort to thin the amount of OC’s I have in general but also just because it’s fun.
In February, I’m doing couples! These will count for 2 days. Yes I can clearly draw other people’s OC’s for this duhh. These are both mine, but they were designed y @bluebrush09arts
The next couple of February is Edmund and Yarn Spinner. These are two pirates/sailors I have. Edmund is a pirate hunter that was one of those that went after Cammy when she was kidnapped. He eventually found the ship she was on, but grabbed the wrong white unicorn by mistake, “saving” Yarn Spinner from the pirates. Yarn Spinner is actually not a pirate by trade, but a writer. She was stowing away on a pirate vessel in an attempt to ensure accuracy of her next book. I’d say Edmund’s accident worked out well for them both.

My coworker Marty & I recently gave a talk about the narrative design and production process for our latest game Young Suns at NarraScope! We talk a lot about collaborative worldbuilding, designing a speculative future, and the nitty gritty details in how our dialogue system works.
I FINALLY FINISHED MY DIALOGUE SYSTEM THING. oh my god I'm so happy. Also whenever I show this to nonprogrammers i feel like it looks really simple but I'm gonna link the CS file that handles all of what you're currently seeing and it's not simple at all 😭. I have a feeling noncoders would probably assume this would only take like an hour and it's saddening lmao.
Anyway I should have the documentation and some finishing touches done by tomorrow and then I'll put it on itch so anyone can use it ✨
