Like,

And then he discovered that Minos’ father was named that and he was like,

“It’s such a poetic name, Asterius! …Asterius… YES! Do you like it, my friend?”

And Asterius basically agreed and everybody basically started to call him Asterius because it is a nice name.]

that’s sweet to consider. but honestly naming him asterius/asterion kinda wacks me out. it makes sense as an external moniker/nickname in an almost insulting way cause of their family thing w bulls but. i dunno. if my step/foster father was abusive to me, choosing to name myself after his foster father seems wild. mind you him being called “the minotaur” isn’t any better since it translates to “minos’ bull”. i would love to point out that there are in fact other ways to choose a name. he can be john. tiffany. he could name himself after a hero. or a place. he could make up a new name wholecloth.

and tbh we’re assuming the minotaur wants a name, which is very human centered of us. maybe he doesn’t care, or even actively doesn’t want one. unfortunately we can’t exactly ask him how he feels…

I have my theories. Everyone keeps saying that’s a plothole and I disagree. There’s no way the writers forgot that. It will be addressed in the future for sure.

I think he’s one of a few Mortys Rick encountered. But more than the picture, I think of the memory we see when Evil!Rick is scanning his brain. The one where he picks up the baby Morty.

See, we know that our Rick was snooping around the houses and garages of Ricks in other dimensions to gather intel, so what if during one of those info gathering missions, toddler Morty wanders into a room and just...holds his arms out to Rick. And Rick, being alone and touch starved for human contact for (what, at that point? years? decades?) just caves because he wants to know what it would be like to hold “his” grandson, and the fact that Morty just trusts him just breaks down all his walls, so he does hold the grandson he’ll technically never have. And I think that’s why he’s more attached to Morty than Summer, even though Summer was Beth’s first child. Because that baby just walked right up to him without judgement and held his arms out like that to his “grandpa.”
