I felt the whole "dropped thread" plotpoint people keep mentioning...the "feminist" uprising in the film was actually very on brand.
I dont know if it's intentional or not but my friend and I could NOT stop talking about how realistic that actually was.
Because they represented how swaths of women actually react when a victim gets the spotlight and demands change: they just buy the tee- shirt.
The "rebel" women in the film bought the lipstick and climbed on cars and shouted in the streets "fuck the patriarchy!" And then...nothing.
The Bride was still on her own ( without Frank). None of those hos put their body on the line. They didn't protect them they didn't dress as her help throw off the coppers: they just bought the teeth shirt.
The films representatives of the pink pussy hat "rebellion.
How the m2 movement got gentrified to a point where white women STILL try to credit Rose Mcgowen.
That was the most realistic and telling part of the film to me. How women could be in need and in danger, and in real need of a true uprising....
But all you get is people chasing esthetics and popularity on the front of the papers. They wanted the brides look ,and brash voice but none of her struggle.
Its a "Brava" for me
