Talk about an identity crisis: Bauhaus became Tones on Tail (same band, sans singer Peter Murphy), which then renamed itself Love And Rockets, and then did a side-project as The Bubblemen, which was probably meant to be a spoof on kiddie tv programs like The Wombles or The Banana Splits. This is the UK introduction single, with its oddball comic book. “The B Side” is just that—three minutes of bee sounds. I actually SAW the Bubblemen live in 1988; Love and Rockets played Roseland in NYC and were their own opening act. Since they couldn’t play instruments in those costumes, they just bounced around on stage to songs on tape; it wasn’t kitschy as intended, just really bad, unfortunately. After their 2-3 songs, they finished and then we had to wait another 45 minutes for them to come out and play their real show!
